Any chance you could put up a photo? The green might be a somewhat common candy colour or close enough you might be able to fix it? It would be a lot of work though. Typically, a coloured clear over raw goes something like this:

1. clear primer
2. candy intercoat
3. intercoat clear sealer
4. high gloss finish

So it's pretty tough to replicate for a touch-up, but depending on what it looks like, you might be able to get it down to as simple as a two-step paint application for a touch up.

I'd try heating the clear up with a heat gun and then removing the bearing, maybe sanding or breaking the clear with a hobby knife. You're going to get some damage either way but fingers crossed that'll help a bit.

This is why I'm all aboard the DIY paint train.

The Norco version also has some pretty unique replaceable dropouts which this design lacks. I have to assume there was a good reason Norco used them, though I haven’t been able to figure out what it is.

Very simple answer - they spent a shitload of money developing their frame, using the unique replaceable dropouts allows them to use the same rear triangle tooling to have size specific chainstays in all sizes without making new carbon molds. Unfortunately they come loose fairly frequently for heavy/fast riders and need to be checked every few rides.

I just ordered one with a rigid fork to build as a commuter/gravel bike. I kinda needed the 34/36t chainring clearance (38t max chainring claimed on haideli's website) for it to... work? Hmm, we'll see how it goes. Price was VERY good so hopefully we'll be able to make it work :I

If these ever make it into XL I might need to pick one up. Did an enduro race this weekend on my 2018 140mm bike. I had one of the oldest, smallest bikes there at apparently one of the most technical and demanding stops in the series. I did well enough on the little bike but it sure makes me want one of these, haha.

Jeez, Specialized has enough issues with yoke alignment and shock longevity that I really wouldn't be interested in a chiner running the same system. Looks brilliant but a pass from me!

Not safe. Water bottle mounts have more carbon and are reinforced in the area. Top tube is one of the weaker parts of the frame.

can anyone tell me what is nowadays's lead time of Chiner carbon MTB frame in general?

I am asking this because BXT told me before my order purchase, "Normally about 10 working days". I feel cheated and not comfortable with this situation.

Uh..... How so? Many of us waited a few months lead time to get our bikes produced. 10 days production and then shipping sounds like a dream!

Yes price is real ;D

TBH, i wasn't expecting much just from paintjob, besides couple spots it looks good enough. I got some 3m polish but not cutting compound. Do you think polish would be enough or i need more aggressive stuff to smooth the surface? It's not much gritty but you can feel some powder on some points.

Polish won't smooth on its own - you need to do some gentle, very high grit wet sanding to get the bumps down. Compound gets rid of the scratches left by the sanding. Polish is used to finish and bring back the gloss/shine.

With your huge layer buildup, I wonder what kind of weight of paint you have.

I think the painter used spray guns, which allow you to use FAR less paint than rattle cans. I spray with both rattle cans and spray guns, and depending on the gun/paint used, I'll do 1.5-2 times as many layers. My general rule is to try to spray as little paint as I can while allowing it to still hit the frame while wet - this is a safer technique for myself who is not a professional. With rattle cans, I rarely get past a second coat of any stage rather than being able to dial it in a bit more precisely on spray guns.

SO it might not have actually added any more than your rattle can job.

Wow, the price. You get what you pay for I guess. I spent probably ten times that only on paint for my Rocky Mountain when I painted it, forget any labour! I think you could probably get your clear in better shape with some high grit sanding, cutting compound, and a polish. This'll take quite a lot of elbow grease and should be done once the frame has a long chance to cure!

I'd clarify with them regarding water bottle bosses. A lot of the time their early production pictures don't have them and the finished products do. I also wouldn't worry about a 48mm BB drop, that's on the lower side but ultimately not that far off a lot of bikes days. Particularly if you'll use 165/170 cranks and a fork longer than 120mm

Where did you see the geo chart? Bummer it seems to be dated geometry the frame looks great!

In the formerly broken link.

I wouldn't go so far as to say its 19-20 XC geo, I think it probably fits the downcountry moniker, it's just not quite as aggressive as some of the newer trail bikes out there.
