Not really much around. I resorted to purchasing frame design software to model the frame i was interested in; Linkage Design Software. I believe i paid $25.00. This way you can model any frame you can get actual geometry specs on and makes changes to see the outcome. It's a great piece of software!

The M06 has become a very popular frame so everyone's jumping on the bandwagon! I love my M06, it's the best bike I've owned to date :)

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Dengfu carbon road frames

In an email from Dengfu, they write:
"We will paint all in carbon matt finish".

I believe what they mean is all carbon frames have paint on them. I have a DengFu 098 and love the bike! I do have some paint on it but left a lot of the frame plain matt. If you look at the matt finish you will notice it is painted. If you saw a raw UD frame come out of the mold you would never accept it! They can be very ugly looking so they spray a thin coat of matt paint on it to make it look uniform.

I have never had an issue with chipping or fading. What i can say is resin is a material that continues to cure over it's lifetime. There is a thought the UV rays from the sun can speed up the curing process which is a plausible idea. If this phenomenon were to happen it would leave you with a more brittle frame then when it was new. This is very common in the boat building world. Older boats get brittle over time as the resin continues to cure causing the hulls to become brittle and crack/break. That's why fiberglass boats do not last forever. They have a shelf life. The same can be said for composite bikes although the technology is better and therefore longer lasting.

As for my 098 I placed a small strip of heli-tape on the drive side chain stay just for protection. It has some grease on it but that's about it.

I have an 057 and love it! It does have a bit more of an upright ride you're requesting. I am the same size as you and ride the 19" frame. The 17.5" would be too small for you. I would stay with a 29er. With your size and winter riding. that makes the most sense to me. If you were talking about a boost frame with wide tires than a 27.5 might be a consideration but for the the riding you're talking about i would stay with the 29er.

As far as the headset goes on all of my Chiner bikes, i have three of them, i have been using the Neco headset that came with them. I have never had an issue and to this day they are as smooth as they day they were installed new! On my 057 that bike has been through a ton of water and mud and cleaning is all the maintenance it's required.

I currently have three Chiner bikes. A CS-057, DengFu M06 and a DengFu FM-098 road bike. I love all the frames and haven't had any issues with any of them!!!

Right now i'm thinking about building a disc brake road bike so i'm looking at the CS-13-D. That would complete my stable of bikes  ;D

Could someone with a 057 knowing the internal routing come to the rescue  ???

If i remember correctly, when I built my 057 it had white plastic inner tubes. I could see it clearly through the headtube area. I had no issues running the cable in the tube and consequently had no shifting issues.

The 057 inner cable routing is as straight forward as it gets. The only area i can think of that could be obstructed is right around the bottom bracket area. Make sure it's routed below the bottom bracket with no kinks. I'm not sure how they attach the inner housing to the frame. Possibly glued? That might be another area of obstruction. Making sure there is no glue or resin that overflowed into the inner part of the tube where the cable feeds through. If that is the case go buy the smallest round file you can get and try to smooth out the connection points as best as possible.

I have a CS-057 and i can't say i've ever had any shifting issues. The one possibility i can think of is a kink or blockage in the internal tube? Any kind of drag on the cable while shifting can present shifting issues. Do you remember having a hard time threading the cable? Especially around the bottom bracket area where the inner tube can get kinked?

Wow, maybe I should at least try a lower/longer option given that I'm just 2cm lower than you, but then again everyone has different body proportions. My current setup is 19" frame and 6cm stem which feels endo-resistant, at least I did not roll over yet :) Next spring I'll see if 9cm stem rides better.

Don't forget handlebar width plays an important part of this equation too. The shorter the stem length the wider you want your bars. If you lengthen the stem to 90mm and keep the same fairly wide bars (not knowing what your bar width is of course) you might wind up with a combination that makes the steering too fast and twitchy.

That's what happened to me on my hardtail. I started out with a 90mm stem and 725mm bars. Man was that a bad combination!!! I kept the bars and went with a 60mm stem. So much better. The steering felt natural. I didn't have to think about turning input. When i built my M06 i went with a 740mm bar and a 70mm stem......perfect!!! It has been the most natural and intuitive steering i have ever felt on a bike. The moral of the story is everything comes into play when you're trying to dial a bike in for yourself. it all works as one package  ;D

Yes, great build and good looking bike!!! I think what we are seeing now is the Enduro/AM riders are starting to look for Chiner bikes. The Chiner market was dominated by hardtails and XC frames. Hopefully in the next couple of years you'll see slacker headtubes and longer suspension designs come from the Chiner builders.

Been riding many many hours on the bike and I really love it, best bike I had. Handling is superb and its fast as any hardtail on the flats!

That's how i feel about my M06 as well. It really is faster than any hardtail I've been on and the handling is superb! Just feels totally natural. I don't have to "ride" the bike. I just get on it and do my thing and it responds  ;D

« on: November 07, 2017, 08:28:17 AM »
This goes along with another post about modern geometry on Chiner bikes. Most of these builders are not in the design business. They are manufacturers. The designs come from big box companies for the most part and because new designs are copyright protected, the manufacturers are not permitted to use any of the IP (intellectual property) from the companies they build for.

If the specs you listed are for current Enduro bikes then you probably won't see them in Chiners until the copyrights expire in a few years.

Yes, that would be my question as well. My DengFu M06 has a head tube angle of 68.5 and i'm running a 120mm fork which puts me at 67.5. I wouldn't want to go any slacker than that. As a matter of fact i'm thinking about dropping my fork down to a 100mm just to gain that degree back. Unless you're looking for a specific type of ride like DH or some crazy Enduro stuff, why would you feel you need a more slacker head tube angle?

I have read about that as well. I don't know if DengFu made a change but with my bike when the shock is completely bottomed out there is plenty of clearance for just about any size tire. I don't know why that owner had that issue.

What about copy for road bike ?
They look like the true Frame, but it is not very good build...no confidence in them.

Good question. My take on that would be road frame geometry and technology has moved at a much faster pace in years past. Not much development going on these days except for some crazy ideas that you don't see on open mold builders. The mountain bike industry has really started to come into their own therefore right now you see so much development happening. I just think the road bike industry peaked a while ago that's why you see open mold specs virtually the same as current brand name frames.

I feel for you on the hardtail desire. I have a hardtail and love it but when i built the M06 i hadn't ridden it since and it's currently up for sale. FS bikes are so good and efficient now people are getting away from hardtails except for plus size wheel size combinations.
