Re: Groupset News
Does anyone know what the max cassette is on the Sensah Empire HRD 11 speed? I can't seem to find it on the product page on aliexpress.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006027398876.html?pdp_npi=3%40dis%21USD%21US%20%24454.54%21US%20%24227.27%21%21%21%21%21%402141112416959588885015561ed540%2112000035384881842%21im%21%21#nav-specification

The design doesn't seem to have changed compared to the rim brake version and it looks like medium cage length is the only option, so 11-34t is the max capacity.

Re: cycplus vs rockbros little electric pump things I've just received a Cyclami branded one that cost me around $65 AUD. It pumps my 700x25mm tyre up to ~60 psi in 75 seconds - that's all I need to get me home. Seems to charge pretty quickly too (~30 mins). Haven't had to use it on the road yet but first impressions are pretty good.

Re: Current Wheelset Offerings for Climbing Agreed - assuming the Edge is that price again like it was in the last big sale. By far the best lightweight option in that price range.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes Anyone got recommendations on a one-piece skinsuit (preferably with pockets)? Looking to find a 'racesuit' type outfit but it seems like there's not much choice from the high quality brands on AliExpress.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
Went looking myself, not a lot to find.

Tempted by https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004436474128.html trust Cheji as a brand (more than NeoPro), have a few pieces of their kit, prices looks good for the next couple of days (Cheji pricing fluctuates wildly), just not sold on the design.

Yes, there's not a whole lot of options. Swiftofo is the only other one I've come across that I like the look of.

Re: Groupset News Sensah Team Pro 11 speed Shimano-compatible hydraulic shifters now available:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006148990399.html

Sensah also now selling all of their hydraulic shifters separately:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006137602599.html

Looks like there's been a small update to the Empire Pro shifters as well, they're now all black (rather than heaving the cheap-looking plastic silver piece).

I asked the Sensah rep on Twitter what the difference with the new gravel rear derailleur is, and he said:

"The new rear chain lifter is stronger, and the chain stability and speed change are enhanced"

Re: Powermeter pedals (Cycplus?) There's no doubt that by far the best power meter pedal option on the market is the Favero Assioma - relatively cheap, lightweight, accurate - all you need in a power meter.

However, after four years of Assioma Uno ownership I went to replace the bearings, only to find that the existing bearings were absolutely shredded to the point where they had worn into the axle and both pedals had to be binned. The electronics are bonded to the axle so unfortunately they could not be saved.

Favero offered 100EUR off a new pair of Unos, so for the same price I decided to go with the Magene PES instead on a new bike to get dual-sided power for roughly the same price and go back to my preferred Shimano pedals. Moral of the story here is that if you get the Faveros, make sure you replace the bearings at regular intervals. They're pretty cheap and it's very easy to replace them.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! A short review of these 'The One' style handlebars from Kocevlo:

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004973884034.html

Bought in 380*100mm to fit a 2023 Merida Scultura (FSA ACR). One-piece bar and stem was a good opportunity to replace the heavy separate FSA stem and Merida branded handlebar that came with the bike. I bought this particular bar as it seemed to be compatible with the FSA ACR system.

Pros:
- Weight: 330g for 380x100mm - up there with some of the seriously lightweight options.
- Stiffness: I'm a lightweight climber-type build (67kg, 900w peak power) so I'm not really stretching these things to the limit, but there's no incredibly obvious deflection when I sprint out the saddle.
- Shape: Excellent modern compact style handlebar shape.
- Price: 100USD including integrated Garmin mount kit (which seems nicely made)
- Minimalist looks: only one sticker, and easy to remove by fingers

Cons:
- Routing: I didn't do this myself but my mechanic said that the bars had quite sharp edges inside that made routing the hoses particularly difficult. This was brake hoses only as it was a 12sp Shimano Di2 build.
- Shifter clamp: Shifter clamp area was undersized and clamp needed to be shimmed.
- Headset compression: my mechanic said he had to modify the bottom transition spacer as the Scultura top headset bearing sits fairly deep inside the tube - without modification it wasn't making sufficient contact to set the preload properly.

For the price, seems good, but be aware of the potential issues.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Did 140km on the Kocevlo bars today and they felt great - shape of the bars is good, flats on the top feel very comfortable and basically no noticeable flex when I'm putting an effort in.

Sounds great, i am also thinking about getting those bars!
You mentioned that a sticker is easily removed. Are you talking about that white "Kocevlo" branding? that was actually holding me off from placing an order since I always read "Cock-Velo" :D
So great news, if that can be removed without residues.

And are the measurements true to size in your opinion? E.g. Hood/Drops width, reach, stem length, angle? I read a lot of contradicting statements regarding that barstem (from different manufacturers)

Thanks!

Yes, I'm talking about the white 'Kocevlo' sticker. I could mostly peel it off with my fingers and the residue came off easily with some acetone.

As for measurements, I have taken some very rough measurements just with a measuring tape by eye:

Code: [Select]
                      | Specs               | Actual                                                      | Difference
----------------------|---------------------|--------------------------------------------------------------|-----------
Stem Length           | 100mm               | 110mm (+10mm longer)                                         | +10mm
Tops centre-to-centre | 380mm               | 380mm (right on)                                             | 0mm
Drops centre-to-centre| 400mm               | 405mm (+5mm wider)                                           | +5mm
Reach                 | 77mm                | 70mm (-7mm) - measuring accuracy uncertain                   | -7mm
Drop                  | 127mm               | 130mm (+3mm) - close enough, could be measuring error        | +3mm
Weight                | 520g±20g (full pkg?)| 330g (bar/stem) + 30g (Garmin mount) + ~25g (spacers, est.)  | -135g

I don't have a way of measuring the angle but it looks about right, I guess.

I have the same bars on my Hygge bike. I had no problems routing the 4 cables (brakes and shifting) trough the handlebar.

Excellent! Maybe it's a matter of slight differences between bars, slightly different dimensions and I expect my fairly upright shifter position probably means there's a little less room for cables after they exit the bars (see pictures).

Re: Thoughts on Panda Podium? I bought a Magene PES from there as it was cheaper than doing so from AliExpress (particularly considering that AliExpress has 10% GST added on top for Australia whereas Panda Podium does not).

Transaction was easy and postage was quick - about 2 weeks to regional Australia.
