Re: Yishun R086-D Aero Road Yishun is building me a set of these wheels to test. They should be delivered this week:

https://www.yishunbike.com/product/rbd50c/

Model 206DB-RBD50C
-Arch Bridge design (think ENVE/Princeton)
-50mm Depth
-Ext Width 30mm, Int Width 23mm  8)
-Pillar Wing 20 Spokes
-Straight pull hubs w/ ENDURO bearings, 36T star ratchet (DT style)
-Claimed weigh around 1490g

From Yishun:
"Net price 539 usd + delivery cost 100 usd around, we sell to others."

My Winspace Hyper D67 wheels are my road favorite wheels. However, they are freaking $1500 now  :o
I recently have been testing Magene's latest DB508 Ultra wheels with 23mm internal width and let me tell you - this has been a game changer for me. The comfort of 23mm width internal is superior to 21mm because of the wider contact patch the tire has to the road. And you can run slightly lower tire pressure.

I say this to say that I'm really looking forward to these Yishun wheels. They should easily become my most versatile set of wheels for both road and gravel. And I think for the price, they will give Yoeleo and other sub-$1000 wheels a run for their money. Xiamen wheel builders (Yishun, Wheelsfar, Light Bicycle) offer some of the best value for wheels. However, the majority of the wheel expense come from using brand name hubs like DT Swiss or Chris King. I have found that the recent star ratchet design Xiamen wheel builders are using are just as good. And MUCH cheaper.

Re: Yishun R068D
Have you already received the frame? If so, how do you like it? Thanks!

Not yet mate. Still another month to go I think!

Got pretty much everything ready to go now, just waiting on the frame and a few other little bits I've got on order.

Re: TanTan TT-X38 Build I’ve only done around 250k so far. Finally put 175mm cranks and Look pedals on there so I don’t feel like riding a child’s bike anymore. :-)
But it’s raining here all the time atm. So either Im running my VB-R 218 on the turbo or my gravel bike with full length mudguards. But it’ll be more dry this week. So hopefully I’ll have the chance to test it a bit more.

These Tufos and Tufo tires in general are a bit of a revelation to me. I’m running the Thundero gravel on my other bike which honestly is the best gravel tire I’ve ever ridden. Tufo has a bad reputation which stems mainly from their low end tubulars. But I think they’re massively underrated.

The wheels are plenty fast. I’m still on the fence as to whether I find them stiff enough. More riding needed. Build quality is very good. Labels are cheap vinyl stickers. I don’t really mind. They are very good value for money. But bear in mind that 28s come very wide on these. And because of the huge internal width you can’t really put on anything smaller than 28s. But these wheels and 28c tires feels is the goldilocks standard for me. Plenty fast and yet super comfy. And the tires match the rims in width pretty much exactly, so it should still be aero.

Re: Elves Falath EVO 2023 Sometimes when I spend too much time on cycling forums/videos I have to remind myself to go outside to remember how the real world operates...

Yishun/Light Carbon - Best value under $1000. I would take a $700-$800 Yishun over an $1100 Elves everyday of the week. The downside is Yishun doesn't exactly offer paint options, and their frames lean more towards all-around than aero. The performance however cannot be overstated.

Elves Falath Evo - Honestly if the aesthetics of a full aero frame at this price is that important (rather than QC and unproven performance) then a TanTan x38 is the way to go. You get custom paint, a unique looking frame for the pricepoint, and the money saved can go toward a legit set of wheels from something Leon Hu/Yuanan Wheels.

Winspace T1500 - But if you still really wanna spend $1100+ for a fully finished product and customer support, it's worth it to save/spend extra for the T1500. Or wait for the Agile release next year. It's a proven frameset. True, you could argue that buying a used aero frame from a big brand is a better buy. Something like a 2020 BMC Time/Road Machine but it's still gonna cost like around 2000. And in practice who is truly doing this with regularity?

Middlemen/Agents/Curators offer great value (maybe not here) and buffer to potential customers who are afraid to make their first Far-East purchase. As much as we in this forum love to pride ourselves on skipping the middle to buy frames/wheels to save money by going directly to OEM suppliers, the real world is a little different. I've received hundreds of messages over the years (forum/IG/FB/email) from from people basically wanting me to hold their hand during their customer experience. We just aren't as savvy at times as we believe.

I've been making videos for 3 years now. American cycling scene is huge now especially in Chicago. And yet Winspace is really the only brand that's been able to break through and become a common name around here.

PLA: I've deleted a couple of your posts. Feel free to speak your grievances, just please do it in a way without insulting people. We can do without terms like "typical shitbag, idiotic, typical internet hypocrite" etc. I realize you probably think that the forum and myself are being "fragile' but that is just the standard we try to maintain here. Thanks for understanding.
