My gravel has a DUB spindle in a BB92. The bearings are toast already, just after a few months, and without any rain.
When looking for solutions, and asked BB Infinite and Hambini. Both told me to stay clear from the PF92-29/30mm combo.

BSA allows proper 30mm bearings, and is for me the only option if Carbonda does not provide a BB386 version.
Carbonda are usually very good in what they make, I just hope they align the shells straight.

The issue is important, and I'm just trying to make some more folks think about it if they want to run a DUB or 30mm spindle.
Hopefully getting more BSA frames ordered, so Carbonda feel some positive pressure, and make our 3 frames a bit faster :D

Just look around, you'll find how bad engineering are BB92/BB86/BB90 for DUB and 30mm spindles.
And how the bike industry is moving out of this infamous standard.

For me, I am less concerned about bearing longevity due to my success with BB30 and full understanding of the compromises.

The big shortfall of DUB is its complexity. The way the bearings are preloaded leaves a ton of room for error. If you follow the instructions to a T then chances for premature failure are greatly reduced. In my experience it is the torque requirements of the crank bolt that is critical. This torque must be correct to allow the preload to have a chance. Check the preload every ride for the first 50-100kms.

Second, I’ve already gone the weight route with the SL frame and the Sidluxe Ultimate. Adding weight at the BB and crank seems contradictory to my build.

Third, I live in the Chicago area. I literally see Movistar WC Rainbow jerseys at Palos. Sram supports my local trails. Sram Rockshox all the way.

For the chain line and wear. And especially when back pedalling around the bigger cogs.
Generally happening after putting a foot down on a steep climb  ???

The paint on the teeth wears off after about 4 miles but other than that they seem to just plug along. I had one at about 800 miles before I lost a couple bolts and seriously warped it, but I can't imagine any ring would survive that.

Re: Stone or Pass Quest Chainrings - AliExpress Faint creaking doesn't seem like a chainring issue, unless its the bolts itself. Never had that problem. Can you post a photo of the actual teeth? You can tell from the profile if its worn.

I just bought a Pass Quest oval 42T but it won't get here for a while. Have two Deckas narrow-wides 48T and 52T, one has 2,500km and not really significantly worn (first photo below), should easily get to 5-10k km.
If we are talking about high end rings, also used Praxis with well over 7,000km on it. You can see the teeth profile its curved on one side, so starting to wear out. Those are normal thin teeth as well, narrow-wide should actually last longer with the extra metal in that area.

Yep, the anodizing maybe isn't as good, or is more obvious that its worn, but other than that they are good. $10 is super cheap.

Re: Stone or Pass Quest Chainrings - AliExpress Interesting, the wear on the sides of the teeth seems significant. The wear on the front of the tooth can definitely be seen but does not seem extreme (~1mm?).
I wonder if this is related to chainline, my chain tends to stay fairly straight, but if I had it in the top or lowest gear a lot maybe it would wear more like that? Or if its just an issue with narrow-wide in general.

One advantage of the 0mm offset is you could flip the chainring around, and that might extend the life (in some cases the chainring bolts are countersunk slightly so watch out).

Hangers need to be ordered through Adam at carbonda. They are 5usd ea w/ 15usd shipping.

Next, if you're like me and have had to remove the rear wheel a few times you may notice the depth of the allen key isn't very deep and causes your hex head tools to not fit in there very deep. I started stripping the axel and went ahead and bought myself a new one. I ordered this axel and it fit in there flawlessly. Super high quality fit and finish on that thing. Worth putting on your shred sled!

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts In the process of installing some new brakes and noticed how marred the rear brake hose was from installation. So, before installing the new rear brake I filed down the entry and exit points to reduce the sharp edges.

You have to be very careful to avoid marred/scratched housing.

Re: Stone or Pass Quest Chainrings - AliExpress I have been using Deckas & Stone chainrings for years now. 6 years for Deckas & 2 years for Stone. Both the round & oval variants. I have the 96 & 110 bcd. Have put thousands of kilometers on them and didn't have any issues.
