Grats!

I like the wheel!

So when's the drawing?  ;D

Thanks for the lights link!
Which flash light in particular did you choose?

I went with the 2 cheaper fashlights on the link I believe. I'll dig up my old order information in my email soon. Xml-2 was the most efficient Cree LED at the time I bought it about a year ago. Might be better out by now. Link I shared is prefiltered to xml2 lights.

You want the skinnier battery housing.

Figured I'd share my night-time trail riding lights:

3 or 4 of these puppies

...mount 1 or 2 to handlebars and 1 or 2 helmet using two fish blocks:

Just be sure to order legit batteries. Lots of stories of people buying the Li-on batteries from china and them being defective (read: dangerous/exploding)

Each flashlight is obscenely powerful and lasts 2~3 hours on high or  5~7 on medium (medium is still obscenely powerful).

I carry a back up batteries too.

Can get 4 flashlights, 4 mounts and 8 batteries for something like $125 definitely more than enough light.

I like to ride with 2 wider head flashlights on the handlebars for the dispersion and the skinner lense head on my helmet for more focused light where I'm looking.

Edit-
These batteries are what I purchased as well as my brother and have been satisfied with them.
Not as cheap as some batteries you find online but well reviewed to be safe and have the listed charge capacity (which is about as much charge as you can expect a 18650 battery to hold).

I can't seem to find anything about interactions with toulene and carbon fiber from google searches that seems to mean much for this.

I'd agree... test it out on something that's not imporant first.

I dropped the option to build wheels myself, at least for this first build.
And ordered a wheel set from light-bicycle.com
30mm hookless. With a Lefty project321 for the front. And Hope hub for the rear.
I'm waiting for them.

Those come in yet?
Curious how much they run you?

I ordered my wheelset from Yoeleo's website. It took a month for delivery but the wheels are great. It came with the Circus Monkey lefty hub and Novatec rear hub. You can also order the lefty adapter/ conversion kit with steerer tube from Art's Cyclery. It was much cheaper than Project's website.

I'll check that site out. Thanks

Aoiree, I will have a lefty fork for sale (110mm for 29er) when I get further along with my build if you're interested

I have a Lefty Max from 2005 that appears to be in fine working condition which I'll be planning to convert for use with the 29er. Think I'm going to run with that for now and maybe upgrade the internals down the line. Thanks though.

Ok picking back up where I left off and getting underway. Have a month until my next race. Time to make stuff happen.

My lefty hub is currently for a 26" with 24 holes. I'm guessing I'll probably need a 32hole lefty hub for the 29er?

Also trying to figure out what adapters I may need for the fork on the chiner frame. Looking at project 321 stuff.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: UST tyres
« on: July 01, 2014, 10:54:35 PM »
Was in a 24hr Adventure Race this past weekend and had my maxxis ignitor tire develop a large de-lamination bubble which subsequently exploded leaving a big messy tear in the tread.

Spent half an hour applying a few radial patches to both the inside and outside of the devastated area in hopes that it would protect the tube I would run inside the tire and then even wrapped the area in ducttape to provide extra compression/protection.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this? Not sure I ever plan to run tubeless again on a race. Much easier/quicker just to swap out a tube then deal with the above. Sample picture of what the de-lamination bubble looked like like below.

Welp picked up a lightly used cannondale prophet 1000 off craigslist. I now have a bike to race on in 2 weeks at least.

And I also have my lefty max 140 which I will convert to a 29er lefty.
I'll probably salvage the fork after the race and sell rest of the components I won't use towards the chiner. If I'm lucky the net cost of the fork will be near zero :) got it on craigslist for a good price.

So lefty chiner 29er build... consider yourself started!

I assume no substantial difference between light-bicycle and xmiplay for the wheelsets?

I see light-bicycle is a popular choice.
