I'm interested in the ability to put a stealth dropper post on the 256SL. Is it possible?  Is it possible to place a stealth dropper post on any of the chiner frames?
see http://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,163.msg1717.html#msg1717  ;D

Could you make one with some aluminum shim stock-  cut out a rectangle and press it on to the frame to form it, then glue it on?
I don't know how much pressure you need to bend the alu in the right shape and if the frame is holding that ...
Maybe you can create a mold and then using a hammer to bend is in the right shape ?

Ray,

I take a look today and is it's possible to place stealth dropper post.

In the first picture, you can see a hose. Picture is take from the top of the seat post tube to the BB.
In the second picture, you can see the hose through the BB.

I hear you but computers are tough for me.  I'm not good with them.  I don't know how to access files on my computer.  I tried to go to Imgur but it says I do need to set up an account.  Tried to set up an account and it said my IPad device doesn't support what I was trying to do.  I'll keep trying.
Thanks,
Andy. :)
Hi Andy,

today I created a topic "How to post a picture". I hope this will help you and others.

After The Ride / How to post a picture
« on: July 10, 2014, 09:40:01 AM »
There are several ways to post a picture.

This guide is based on the online picture hosting of http://postimage.org

- Got to: http://postimage.org (in a new window)
- (1) Browse to your picture, which is stored on you laptop/pc
- (2) Choose a correct size for your picture on the forum (it's not allways necessary to upload it in original size, sometimes the picture is way to big).
- (3) upload your picture

- (4) When it's uploaded, you can copy the url to your clipboard by clicking "copy to clipboard" (easy, isn't it?). Now you see the word "Copied"!" in your screen, which indicated that the picture url now is on/in your clipboard.

- (5) Go back to you forum message and click the image icon. Now you see [ img ][ /img ] into your message field and in the middle your cursor is blinking.

- (6) Now press CTRL-v to paste your picture-url from your clipboard to the position of your cursor in the message field.

- Now when you save your forum message or look to the preview, you will see the image into your message.

;D

What is the hex bolt in the centre of the last picture for ?  Does that remove the cable guide ?
Yes, that's correct. But it also removes the tube what comes out the frame for the front derailleur.

I was very busy at the office and didn't think of my frame the hole time, only when colleagues came in and ask what was in the box  ;D

My first impression was: light, very light.
My second impression: damn, why didn't I choose for a painting, like the one Patrick C. had, with his Pantone 185C red Chiner. I thought about this, because the UD matte structure wasn't everywhere equal (you can see that at the picture with the seat clamp). But despite of that, I'm very happy with my frame.

First thing I checked was the seat clamp. The seat clamp height is 12mm and fits very wel.

And I'm also very happy with the chainsuck protectors I ordered at Peter (ordered one extra as spare). They exactly fits the frame, it follows all the curves.
If you didn't order your frame yet, use this hint. It's the 2 usd really worth  ;)

One little disappointing about the routing of the cable for the rear derailleur. I wanted to put the inner and outer cable throught the frame, but that is not possible. It's to small for outer cable.

So, now I've to order a fork (hoping to find quickly a white one with crownloc, otherwise it will be matte black), wheelset and XT group. I'm not in a hurry, so, I take my time.  8)
In the meanwhile, I'm going to experiment with plasti dip.

Seat Post Clamp Issue !

I remember reading others have had slight problems with the height of the seat tube and the clamp not seating fully down.  I couldnt find it on this forum so any thoughts would be appreciated.

Basically the seat post clamp doesn't sit fully down -

Is it something that needs sorting ? The only fix would be a narrower seat clamp I assume !
Got my IP-256 today. First thing I did was checking the seat clamp. And it looks fine. Height of the seat clamp is 12mm ( on AliExpress )

They still look awesome and I'd prefer one bc the design simply "seems" superior in my mind, but I did actually think there was more of a weight savings.
They are superior. Please take a look to this video:
I didn't expect this :)

I don't like the looks of a lefty, but they are the 'best'.

I doubt the XT brakes would have been any better since the levers are so short.
You know of the existence of XT brakes with long levers? Long is the touring (fun) type, short is the race type. On my build I've got the short ones.

Frame arrived today at my office. Just opened the package to take a quick look at the frame, but it have to much protection on it to take a quick look. I'll look after work.
The customs was  80 USD (attached invoice was 267 USD).  >:( But that was a little bit what I expected.

However, the post is a very snug fit in the tube, there is no room for anything to crush.
That was what I thought also, but I've got a different experience.

At the carbon frame of my daughter, the LBS over tighten the seat clamp a little. This results in crack like the way on the picture (I don't have a real picture of the crack, but this one is like it was). The crack won't appear right away, but after some rides.
Unfortunately we couldn't proof it was the fault of the LBS, but we didn't change anything of the settings... But a good carbon repairer did a good job.

I don't wanna scare you, but be aware.

Sussed, aren't you afraid to over tighten your seat clamp? You've a seat clamp with a handle. 5 - 6 nm is the max.

About the 6 mm unused seat clamp. Maybe you can filled that up with a tin rubber strip, to avoid mud between your seat clamp and seat post. And maybe this will give some extra resistance.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Plasti Dip
« on: July 07, 2014, 06:59:35 AM »
I am just guessing but my expectation would be that Plasti-dip would adhere to a matte finish frame just fine.  I've seen people apply it to automotive alloy wheels then track the care, even under high temperatures it does not come off.

Removal is as easy as peeling it off by hand.

It really is amazing stuff.  They even make a clear top coat you apply over the base coat for increased gloss and durability.
That's what I thought also. But in the color I want to use, matte red, there's a higher concentration of Tolueen (diluent) in it, than in other colors. Is this maybe a problem ?

I will apply a matte top coat. Don't want any glossy parts.

I think I'll do a little test on the bottom bracket cover :)
