Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: Elitewheels Edge wheelset
« on: November 16, 2023, 06:56:09 PM »
I snagged this wheelset for a whooping 444€ including "tax-prepaid" shipping to Germany, in the 50mm variant, 21mm internal, but I asked for no decals.

I am now debating on which tire width to get. I will get a GP5000 non TL (with 19g TPU tubes), but the question is wether to get 25mm vs 28mm.

I have always had 25mm GP5000 tires and they measure about 28mm on my current wheels with 20.5mm internal width.

Has anyone tried GP5000 in 28 mm on these rims? How is the tire-rim interface? I always hear about the comfort (which I don't need probably), but I fear that they would bulge up on the 21mm internal rims and be even wider than the rim, "ruining" the aero benefits...

First of all you gotta chill with this aero effect. It's so little that we can clearly call it non existing. Gp5000 will measure around 30mm on this wheelsets and be perfectly fine. Remember that larger tire gives you better traction, it's not only comfort.

I agree. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But to me this looks like Homer Simpson’s idea of an aero bike.

This bike is so ugly and such a wannabe aero race bike, that it reminds me of a guy who did put a Ferrari sticker on his Fiat coupe. This is what this bike is, a fake aero Superbike with not even fake Ferrari sticker on it.

Today I received my wheels from yuanan. They look amazing and can't wait for my new build to test them out.

Specs: gravel hookles rims 35 deep, 25iw. Weight 1431 grams.

Plus got those cools mana tubeless valves and tape

Already installed my new mana rotors on them and now waiting for a new frame.

I like that Hambini exposed this larp Jordain.
Dude is an absolute cancer. He does not even ride bikes, have no experience and measures the BB with some cheap aliexpress caliper claiming he an expert. But he is just some wannabe cyclist who knows shit.
His whole idea is to review as much crap as possible, act like an expert just to get paid promotions from Chinese brands. F this dude.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: DT 240EXP hub clones Goldix, Venfort
« on: November 12, 2023, 08:28:07 PM »
I've found this video (google translation needed):
He talks about almost all models, but doesn't recommend both 240 and 180 due to ratchet failures and only 370 and 310 are options to go or 240 with large outer spline, not threaded. 370 and 310 are also compatible with DT ratchets. Lighter 310 model uses aluminium ratchet ring and he says this ring tends to wear, it doesn't in DT hubs. In 370 there's no labyrinth driver body sealing, so you maybe need driver from 240 or 310. I'm not sure I will go with GDX, as I'm building wheels for racing...

Just order hubs from elite wheels. R12 is the model as far as I remember. People use them with elite wheels and all are happy

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: SLACK Gravel Frame
« on: November 11, 2023, 04:41:58 AM »
What I really want to see in the factory direct gravel frame category is some suspension corrected frames with the latest third/fourth generation gravel geometry: 40-50mm fork travel, 50mm tire clearance, dropper post compatible (preferably), tall head tube/high bar height, short stem, steep seat tube, slightly slacker head tube than second generation bikes, Universal Derailleur Hanger, etc

Just get and mtb and put suspension fork mate. Sounds like this is what you need.

I'm looking at this frame as well, I was considering the CFR1056 but this is almost identical geometry

I would take carbonda over airwolf 24/7.
Carbonda is an well known established brand, and airwolf is some aliexpress shop.

26
I ordered a glossy frame but saw that the listing on Aliexpress only mentioned that the seatpost was matte, so I specifically asked if I could get a matte bar & stem as well.

Matte seatpost, glossy cockpit really that bad looking combo?

I like Joe from China cycling but gtfo with those prices

Who does winspace oem for?

I think OP misunderstood what an OEM producer is.

TBH I was using trp spyre C for 4 years on my gravel bike. When setup good with jagwire compressionles housing, good semi metallic pads and all properly adjusted I really never felt the need for other brakes. And I really ride hard, group rides, ultra races, singletracks, hills and mountains and I Weight 85kg strong dude. Try the trp and if You don't like it you can always change hoods and brakes

10-51 casettes (12s AND 11s now too) with shimano spacing but for XD hubs (win-win)

This spacing is good for climbing. Question is are those VG Sports cassettes any good?
