Putting this is this forum, as it’s not a Chiner thing Just giddy with excitement and wanted to share. I’ll be getting a set of these wheels to test out: https://v1.classified-cycling.cc/en/wheels It’s sort of answering a prayer for a 1X person like myself, and can’t wait to try them out! Re: Disc Brake Aero Framesets Allowing For Non-Proprietary Stem?
Practically every 1.5" ACR headset frame out there can accept a SRS headset for under stem cable routing Other headsets from First Components and Token accomplish the same thing I also quite like Orbea's implementation July 10, 2022, 05:03:09 PM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Common reasons for headset play. 1. Not enough spacers above the stem (or the steerer tube isn't cut low enough) to allow the top cap to fully compress the expander plug and headset stack. 2. Upper and lower headset bearings are slightly two different thickness. Some brands require a specific headset arrangement for the top and the bottom, but I don't think this is the case with VeloBuild. Usually the thicker bearing is on top. 3. The upper headset bearing is too far recessed into the head tube bearing cup, or the supplied metal headset C-clip isn't thick/tall enough to prevent the black plastic headset cover from rubbing on the head tube of the frame. I typically torque the expander plug around 10-11nm. The top cap however should only need 3-5nm, just enough to compress the headset stack to remove any play. Anything more than that means something is wrong. July 13, 2022, 08:46:05 AM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
I’m around 190cm tall. I have a pretty good idea of my bike fit and I will get within -4mm of my regular reach with a 120mm stem length and a 40cm bar. Stack will be similar or a bit lower to my current bike, if required. I’m currently riding a Ridley Helium in size 57, which comes out very tall. It’s around the equivalent of a “classic” size 60. thanks for your answer. I just ordered my Frame, im 186cm, i also went for the xxl one with 110/400 handlebar. i hope it was the right decision. I used the current canyon aeroad geometry as orientation. The Canyon size L is very similar to the r218 XXL. I have another Canyon CF roadbike, so im fairly confident about the best size for me regarding canyon bikes. I have a focus culebro racebike that i use on my wahoo kickr which has nearly the same dimensions as the XL r218 and it feels too small for me. i chatted with chris via whatsapp and he told me the xxl frames are in production at the moment and will be ready for further at the end of July. i chose a simple Painjob, matte grey. Shipping to germany via EMS. i will inform you guys when it arrives. It will be the first time i Build a bike so i invite you to join and help me on this journey haha. Re: VB-R-066 D Build
Some Shimano pads definitely make a difference. The gf runs Shimano metal pads along with the Jagwire and is pretty happy with them over the stock setup. I tried to get her on a hydraulic set but she prefers the mechanical calipers because they're purple Here is where i got the saddle: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2251832657672829.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.0.0.1aa11802EeNmlF&gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt Senicx crankset has been very good. Absolutely no issues working with the Sensah shifter. 105 weight at 1/2 the price. But there are some details i have to share... Senicx PR2 is SRAM DUB and this frame uses PF86 BB (DUB 30mm and PF86 shell 41mm) So, PF86-DUB BB bearings are tiny; this will cause friction and low life expectancy out of the BB. I just started seeing a new model, PR3 that uses shimano 24mm; this might have been a better fit on this frame. But anyways... Crankset has been very good and it has a nice quality finish; no noises, no flexing so far. July 27, 2022, 12:53:49 PM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
My caliper mounts are not faced either.... Nightmare! That’s super annoying! I called almost every bike shop in my city to find one that had the tool. But thankfully I did. Seems like a tool most bike shops should have, considering the instructions on most even high end frames say to face the brakes on a new build. My buddy ordered a new Factor frame only online and it says to face the brakes on first build. August 10, 2022, 10:59:03 AM |

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
How did you manage with routing the mechanical front derailleur cable? I used a Shimano outer cable end cap/ferrule, specifically the 4mm "long nose" version which helps quite a bit when initially routing. Step 1: Unscrew the metal derailleur cable stopper guide attached to the frame. Step 2: Gently guide the outer shift cable and ferrule through the cable stopper. This requires a little patience and finesse through the bottom bracket opening. Step 3: Reattach the derailleur cable stopper guide. Pro Tip - To help guide the outer cable through the cable stopper...use an old (or new) shift cable as a "fish hook". August 11, 2022, 05:43:56 PM |
