These SCVCN photochromic glasses are simultaneously great and terrible.
I wore them a handful of times and they quickly became my favorite glasses, but they can't survive a 5 ish foot drop onto carpet. :-\ Arm snapped right off.
Tbh considering I paid $2, I'll probably buy them again.  ;D

The internal routing version seems to be exclusive to the brands that carry this frame, such as the Winspace SLC. This version has a D shaped steerer tube and proprietary headset to allow for passing cables through the stem and in front of the steerer tube.
However, Speeder will only sell you the frame with a standard fork (no internal routing)...ask me how I know. I ended up buying a Winspace. Otherwise, the frames are identical.

The Temai choice store which I believe is probably stocked by the Sensah official store is now offering Team Pro shifters with a Shimano 105 R7000 RD and Empire FD. I wonder if Sensah just gave up on doing a Shimano compatible RD?

Looks like Teampro can shift Sram front derailleur now..

Based off my anecdotal experiences with SRAM 11 speed groupsets, Shimano and SRAM 11 speed front derailleurs have always been interchangeable. At least it worked for me?  ;D

Quick update that the fork now includes the proprietary headset parts! This includes the compression plug, little black shim, top cap and bolt.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here before; also it's neither specifically bike-related nor regarding any one particular product, but for a week now or so I've been seeing "3+ items from US $1,99" on the ali startpage, which should actually be "from US $1,79" cause that's where it starts now (EU-pricing here). Not sure, if this geo-specific or anything.

Between a lot of bargain-bin rubble, you'll find some nice stuff for very little money with free shipping. Now, most of it goes for cheap all year round, but not necessarily under-2-bucks-shipped cheap (granted you pick at least 3 different items).  For example, they have some of those cheaper SCVCN glasses mentioned in this thread a few pages earlier (x62, 63, 64) in that price tier.

I've picked up quite a few non-bike things for dirt cheap during this 3 for $1.99 deal. I did get a couple of the SCVCN glasses, can't go wrong for $2 US  ;D

This would be my selections if I was confident they are still fulfilling orders. I've always had great experiences with Wiggle and their Prime products.

I ordered a handful of accessories and a set of gravel tires, lol. I'll take my chances for $75, we'll see what happens.  ;D

Noob question: can I ask why?
Wondering the same. In my experience the Neco expanders are very long but actually pretty low quality.

nice bike! congrats! beautiful wheels, frame paintjob is sick, but that fork... reeeeeally nice!!

the SLC2.0 is a really beautiful frame, it's one I'm looking at to put a bike together, next year. But the oem from Speeder, the SC-R48 which has a long post discussion here, similar experience and ride feel from what I remember reading

Thank you! Tbh painting and building the thing is half of the fun for me. ;D
Would love to see it if you decide to get one. I was considering the Speeder version as well, as far as I can tell they're identical and except for the fork steerer (Speeder is round and Winspace is D shaped). I'm glad I found the Winspace as I was really wanting full internal routing of the brake hoses.

I used a Thinkrider X7 for a while, picked it up locally for a great deal. It's a good trainer, does everything you need. I did sell it as it's not for me and I didn't use it often, but I can definitely recommend. I wouldn't pay full price, though.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Winspace SLC 2.0
« on: September 26, 2023, 03:06:42 AM »
Hi y'all,

I recently bought a Winspace SLC 2.0 frameset and had quite the adventure building it up.
I've always passively wanted one, specifically in the Kanazawa color, but for the price this lightly used Superlight Black frame was close enough. The steerer was cut too short and I hated the color, but whatever. I'll do something with it someday, maybe I'd lose some weight and magically become more flexible?  ;D ;D  So it arrived and just sat for a while until I found a new, uncut SLC fork on Ebay. So with a new fork and way too much confidence, I started sanding and sketching out some fresh paint jobs!
The paint process took way too long. I had this idea in my head of a purple/gold galaxy looking alcohol ink pattern on a black background, how hard can it be? It's biggest pain in the ass and took up way too much time, 10/10 do not recommend. I dig the result, though. The base color is candy black over raw carbon. Most of the black half has the coolest dark raw carbon effect that you can see in direct sunlight, but some sections got too much black. A two stage white pearl and logos in Ford champagne gold to finish. Overall, I'm happy with paint but it was much too ambitious and the end result is far from perfect. Many mistakes were made and there's a few issues that I just didn't have the patience to fix anymore. They're hard to spot, but I know they're there and they'll always bug me.  >:(

The actual build process was fairly quick and painless, even with fully internal routing. AXS builds are very straightforward and tbh I can't see myself using another groupset on my bikes right now. A lot of parts carried over from my 177.
Frame: Size 490
Wheels Farsports Kaze 45mm
Tires: Panaracer Agilest 28mm and Ridenow tubes
Seatpost: Elita One 63D, but looking at maybe getting one of those VFV or Ryet posts with the hole in it.
Saddle: Ryet 3D printed saddle
Handlebar: Fire Spider FS160
Stem: S Works SL 100mm
Bar tape: Silca Nastro. It's alright.
Bottle cages: Supacaz Fly Ano. Very light and good looking, but don't feel very secure
Groupset: SRAM AXS mix - Rival shifters, Force crankset, Force cassette 10-33, Red chain, Red FD, Force RD w/ JRC pulleys, CLX-R rotors
Crankset: Force AXS GXP 167.5mm - Wheels BB, XCadey spider power meter, and Stone 48/33 chainrings. Rotor 48/35 Q rings are sitting in the closet, I'll be installing those soon.

My verdict so far? This bike is sick. It's a classic aesthetic but make no mistake, this is a race bike. The ride is not very forgiving nor is the geometry. It's a super stiff frame and I can feel every imperfection in the road, on longer rides it kinda has me wishing for my 177. I see now what people mean when they say a bike "just wants to take off" or "holds its speed well". In reality, am I any faster or are either of those statements actually true? Strava and my legs both say I'm as slow as ever, but I sure feel fast af.  ;D

Anyone else have an SLC 2.0 build to share??

I would call this very much not aero. This is a copy of a cnc boutique hipster crank and probably about as aero as a bookshelf (as far as cranks go, being those tiny things, spinning all the time, with feet and legs attached to them and all that stuff ...).
Have you ever seen actual aero cranks? I mean, are you serious?

Feel free to disabuse me of this opinion. Always happy to learn new things.

Just agreeing with what you said. The website description for the Ingrid cranks these are based on says these cranks are gravel/xc oriented and the dot pattern is just for looks. No aeroness to be had here. There's a copy of the Ingrid road crank on Aliexpress as well, but that one also copies the original 30mm spindle design.

I recommend 17track for these kinds of shippers

Yeah, what they said.  ;D
No need to sand it all down unless you specifically want raw carbon showing through. Scuff it up nicely and rattle can away, do make sure to clear coat it (2k rattle can suggested) and then don't apply any frame protection for a few weeks, once you're absolutely sure the paint is fully cured.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: 3D Printed Saddles
« on: September 01, 2023, 01:10:07 AM »
Anyone tried this one? I like the dimensions and that is is fairly flat, I don't like saddles like specislized power as they push me too much of the saddle to thw front. Just found this amazing item on AliExpress. Check it out! 280,70zł  51%OFF | RYET Carbon 3D Printed Saddle Ultralight Bicycle Seating Cushion For Men Women Saddles Road MTB Mountain Gravel Cycling Parts
https://a.aliexpress.com/_EvT0UFh

I have this saddle. I just wanted to try out the 3D printed saddle game and ordered this one as it looked cool, it's very lightweight and the price is good. It weighs 147g on my scale. Very nice build quality and it looks like it cost much more than $50. They definitely feel different, it takes some getting used to and I still feel myself readjusting a lot during the ride. Only a couple rides so far (~40 miles) but I think my ass likes my Velobuild SMP copy better. Time will tell, I'll keep riding it for a bit for sure.
