Re: 14" 26er FM-M001 build Well got it finished.  She wanted to start riding before I had a suspension fork, so is riding it now with the rigid (which I bought for CX season.)

She likes it so much that now I have the Reba sitting on a shelf waiting for a moment when I can take the bike apart and trim the steerer tube down.

The Sprinkle Donut steerer tube cap and the purple nipples on the rims were a big hit.

No weight or cost data ATM as I was lazy on record keeping and the 27.5 wheels that are on there now are heavy AM wheels that I bought as spares for the 2 Kona Full Squish bikes that we have.  I have a set of 26" Crest hoops that are drilled 24H so I could lace them up triplet (16:8) and make a really light wheelset.  But she fits the 27.5 just fine and the Stans rims are white which won't work as well aesthetically (and its all about the looks at this point.)

I did go with a Praxis BB so I could run the Trailcraft cranks.  The bummer and delay with that option was the nut plate laid up in the bottom bracket shell extended too far into the hole to allow the outer sleeve for the Praxis bracket to go through.  About a 30min with a small grinder wheel on a mini dremel tool took that down with plenty of threads left on the nut plate and screw to hold the access cover on the bottom.

(And NO - I didn't send her out without any brake discs!  Snapped these pics before I got them installed and just haven't taken any pics of the complete/complete bike.)

Re: Velo Build R-099 Build My VeloBuild arrived last week and I just got it built up. Its great, the construction seems really good. everything was precise and in the right places. There were definitely a couple little details that had been overlooked. For example, it would have been really helpful to have a shift cable race under the bottom bracket but instead it was just a hole. Which means that you have to remove the BB to replace the front shift cable. But this is at the end of the day a little thing. Overall, really good experience. Excited to get a sense of how it rides after getting a couple 100 miles on it.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
Any 182cm/6' folks on large frames, what size dropper have you installed?
184 cm running a 150 that is sitting on the collar.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts Here is my bling build !

The weather isn't very nice here, so only two ~70km rides so far.
But I loved every instant of them, a smile from one ear to the other, even once when I crashed it :o

Not sure if it is the geometry, the full suspension, the seatpost or the electronic shifting in particular, but this has little in common with my past hardtail riding.

It is a size M SL.
OG-Evkin bar
Ligthbicyle XC925 wheelset with DT-Swiss EXP 240.
XX1 AXS derailleur + Blipbox + Multiclics
SID Ultimate 120mm and SIDLuxe shock 42.5mm
Piccola brakes
Reverb AXS
2.35 tires.
And 10,1kg

The commands are, left click easier gear, right click harder gear.
Click on both for the seatpost.

I was hoping for a more greenish blue, than this reddish one, but I start to get used to it  ::)

I'm still testing different 3D printed mounts for the blips for different positions.
For now the cables are taped below the bar, my plan was to make them go through the bar end and exit through one of the mount holes.
But there was some sun, and I preferred to go ride than work more on it. Maybe later.

Re: Electronic devices I'm using...

IGPSport IGS50E
https://www.igpsport.com/bike-computers
I've used this for about 2 years now. I'm not exactly someone who uses the data to plot out some scheduling for rides or to monitor my exercise or something. So this is simple and more than sufficient for my use.

And Magene H64 Heart Rate Monitor
Only been using this since Sep or Oct. 2020. I only use it as a warning device not to hit a certain heart rate. If I see I'm approaching that figure, I simply shift down to an easier gear or take a rest.

Both devices connects seamlessly with each other.

How accurate are they? To be honest, I don't know. The IGPSport is consistently recording shorter distances (just a small fraction) compared to my Sony Experia cp running Relive. But viewing all those YouTube videos reviews or bikepackers about their cyclocomputers and cp apps, everyone is saying none of their apps/devices showed the same data. Suppose to be I can choose to connect Relive with a cyclocomputer but I just never tried to. No particular reasons, I just use them simultaneously but independently. My phone (with Relive app) is usually in my pocket. The iGPSport is visible on the handlebar. Here's a sample data of both device, same trip. These are the key differences.

                        iGPSport     Relive
Distance          16.9km      17.3km
Max Speed      29.4kph     38.2kph
Ave. Speed      15.3kph     12.1kph
AST                   52m           283m
Time                 moving      trip duration

Distance: iGPSport always came shorter than Relive. It doesn't bother me much.

Speed: This really bugged me. The difference is quite significant. During rides, I follow iGPSport but when sharing my rides on FB it's the Relive video I use.

Elevation: iGPSport is the right one, I calibrated it but I never did calibrated my cellphone for elevation. So I'm inclined to believe that my Relive Speed might be affected (although unfounded).

I didn't bother with the time as they record it differently. The iGPSport records only moving time, while Relive records the entire trip (from pressing Start to pressing Finish button, I didn't set it to auto-pause). I do like to have both info.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
I'm sure you thought about moving the saddle to the front with the 80mm?

i have an ergon saddle with approximately 3cm space, that would be enough to compensate, maybe not so good for her knees
in combination with moving the cleats on the shoes i'm sure you get 10mm out
Well first of all I love the idea, thank you for thinking with me! However she came fresh from a bike fitting session which put the cleats in the right place for best power transfer and so these settings and the stack and reach numbers are what we have to go with. Just one small piece of the puzzle left: a compatible stem/handlebar  :).

Re: LCFS947 - 160mm 4-bar 27+/29 Hey all I'm the one who had that issue with the linkage bolts, LightCarbon is sending me replacement seat stays under warranty with their fix. Wendy mentioned something about making the nuts captive so they can't move in the housing on the seat stays. Can't comment on how it'll work yet as I haven't received the replacements so far.

I did end up finishing the build anyway just to see what it looks like while I wait for those replacements. I went with spray.bike for the paint and did it myself.

Re: Glasses You can find good Foakleys on Ali: Like EV Zero, Path, etc.

Search for: cycling glasses
Sorting the list by price descending.
And looking between $19 and $17
Around page 45 as I tried today, for instance that one looks to be one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002324865234.html
Look for the one with the box, multiple lenses, a cloth, etc... they are generally the good ones, but check well the pictures.

The listings are quickly shut down, but there are always new ones.
Once riding, someone told about my glasses to an Oakley seller, he inspected them and was shocked by the quality.

Then I sometimes replace the lenses with these, that are very strong and clear:

I wear these too, that are clear and extremely light:
