Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!

This week I received my AliEx magnetic water bottles. I got tired of my water bottles getting all scratched up from gravel riding grit. Though I didn't want to pay $40-50 USD for Fidlock bottles. The actual water bottles aren't anything special, but I'd rather keep my nicer road bike water bottles in good condition. They're non-insulated, so I'll probably have to freeze my water the night before once the hot summer days arrive.

They are very ordinary bottles. Hope you have more luck with them, than I did. First ride in managed to eject one doing hill repeats, probably user error as they are harder than regular bottles to lock into place. Retrieve bottle but lid damaged (luckily common size and replaced it with a better lid), a couple weeks later lost front wheel on sandy descent,  bike went down, I didn't, but foot inside front triangle and bottle cracked. Gave up on them for gravel bike and went for side loading cages instead. Did buy a pair of magnetic aero bottles for my crit bike. Did survive a whole season, that is where I learnt how difficult to lock in place. Also  managed to lose an internal part of lid that stopped liquid escaping. Next season probably back to round bottles and regular cages.

Have you noticed them rattling around at all?
They don't rattle on the roughest of trails for gravel bikes (as long as you make sure the bottle slides into the slot and not placed on the magnets, my rookie mistake).

The aero ones on my crit bike survived a forward flip at 35kph and abrupt stop.

Re: reccomend me 380mm non-integrated aero handlebar What I found so far:

Currently using Uno 380mm round alloy handlerbars, they are now also available in 360mm https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004667823835.html

If I want to go aero alloy, then 380mm Prime Doyenne from Wiggle https://www.wiggle.com/p/prime-doyenne-aero-handlebar more expensive and heavier probably 350g. Everything on AliExpress is wider 400mm and heavier over 400g

OE-EVKIN for CF round bars in 360 and 380mm https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001069341353.html

SERAPH 380mm at hoods, 400mm at drops, CF and aero https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000768089212.html

RYET 380mm at hoods and drops, CF and aero https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004789998307.html

ps should of mentioned that as a ride a smaller frame (prefer my weight over the front wheel) I end up running a longer stem, flipped (only a few degrees) so integrated bar and stem is really out. Would drop my bars by over 45mm, I do have limited flexibility  and could not ride a bike with 45mm of spacers (even if they would fit)

Re: WheelTop EDX OS Series Wireless MTB Drivetrain
"On another forum that has a Wheeltop EDS thread going, they posted an image of a different version of the EDS OX with what appears to be a "fixed battery" with a built in connector to charge the battery.

I am pretty sure Joe from China Cycling on YouTube mentioned it, officially for better water proofing, but suspects SRAM, their patents and lawyers with cease and desist letter.

That said Campagnolo's new groupset has removable batteries (just different front and rear) so Wheeltop could switch back next generation, if water proofing issues resolved ;-) and say to SRAM "Campagnolo have removable batteries, so why can't we". As SRAM will not take legal action against Campagnolo, and that lack of action can be used as a legal defense.

visited this thread looking for info on Wheeltop Road EDS drivetrain that was on display at EuroBike (have go through my youtube history and rewatch videos to find out who).

Re: Spider mounted power meter advice
Sigeyi is the best Chinese power meter brand but don't get the Zrace/Sigeyi crankset, the arms have a design flaw where they rub against the spider eventually wearing through and allowing moisture to seep in.

Paid for a Magene P505 + crankset from Zrace Official Store in recent summer sale. was told last week could not provide Magene P505 and offered the Sigeyi as a no cost to me replacement. I accepted the offer, hoping the "new" crankset does not have the design flaw and if not I have a couple of other cranksets.

Question is how to check if the new" crankset does not have the design flaw?

Went straight to the source and asked Sigeyi about their PM and Zrace cranks
Quote
The Zrace RX crank arm has a large locking interface platform. The two red circle sections will touch with the front cover of the AXO power meter.
It may damage the sealing of the cover after a long-time usage.

Re: How do yall feel about the value of open mold road bikes vs mainstream brands?
Part of the biggie for me is paint- I do want a bike that just looks good. So Im leaning towards a Chiner build. Though I may stick with big brand components.
If you want custom paint, a Chiner frame + paint is probably the cheapest option, unless you want to paint it yourself.

On the other hand, you can vinyl wrap any frame. Cost for this is 250AUD (bit more for custom), adds less than 100gram and can be removed

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Plus the wahoo insert interfaced much worse than the garmin one.... For my wahoo.
Just fitted my OG-Evkin mount today, snapped in my wahoo with a satisfying click, was solid for my short ride, took the wahoo out and this was the result

a close up of the damaged tab

also not happy with the spacers between stem and mount they deform below 5nm. (happened with the cheap alloy ones, which have other problems)

Re: cycplus vs rockbros little electric pump things
How many tires can you pump up with one of these? If I have a leaky tubeless tire on my gravel bike that won’t seal, will I be able to top the air up multiple times till I get home? Or will it die on me out on the road after one or two top ups?
In theory two 25m road tyres to 80 psi, so depending on the volume of your tyres and preferred pressure, a few top ups.

I have the "Airbank" Branded one, again the cheapest available at the time. Used it first time in anger today when a friend had puncture and replaced their tube at coffee stop. Impress a few people by the size and pressure it pumped tyre to, not so impressed by the noise it makes.
