Re: First Road Bike Build
Hey guys. I’m curious what is your view on expanders/compression plugs. Yishun provided one(see picture), but I’m unsure if it’s any good or enough, if I want to use spacers. What would you suggest?

Doesn't matter if you want to use spacers, they do not add pressure to the steerer tube, so they don't have to be countered by expander. Expander is used to prevent the stem from crushing the steerer tube. Unless you plan to put expanders above the stem of course, but I don't think it serves any real purpose

Re: TFSA JH-15 and JH-10 - lightweight and aero disc frames
The JH-10 looks absolutely sick, and advertised 950g is incredibly light for a frameset, and like others have said, it looks fast in all the right places--deep tubes, fairly narrow headset clean lines, shields the water bottles.

BUT as Patty and others have pointed out, the geometry is not great. 72.3 degree seat tube but no zero-setback option for the seat post? Not great. Narrowest bar is 380mm with a max stem length of 90mm? Not great. The 582mm stack for a 56 is wild to me--my Seka which is supposedly "endurance" geometry has a 571mm stack. I support it--it supports very new school "tall and long" bike fits that I like. But damn it's tall bike.

Seka Exceed isn't endurance geometry, it's just not a stupid long and low geometry, which suits only a small minority of riders. Also, sizes have always been inconsistent across different brands, there's no universal size M or size 54, that's why you should always go by geometry chart rather than listed frame size.

Size 52 JH-10 has 540mm stack, 385mm reach and 550mm top tube, which is quite in line with other aero bikes in most common size (M/54).

I.e. size M 2023 Giant Propel - 388mm reach, 545mm stack, 550mm effective top tube, 73° seat angle

Size 54 Trek Madone gen 7 - 386mm reach, 541mm stack, 543mm effective top tube, 73.7° seat angle.

Size 54 Teammachine R - 387mm reach, 548mm stack, 552mm effective top tube, 73.5° seat angle.

Size 54 Scott Foil RC - 389mm reach, 548mm stack, 550mm effevtive top tube, 73.6° seat angle.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D) Unless the bike is dedicated aero bike, square-ish down tube is fine. Cannondale SuperSix Evo 4 has square downtube as well, yet with Cannondale's own 50mm wheels and 2 piece handlebar it is on par or better with quite a few dedicated aero bikes.

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
how much have you guys actually paid for ER9? I'm seeing 475 which imo is still not that good of a deal

Around 450€ with tax (thanks to the declared value of 70€  ;D ), also paid roughly 160€ for crankset, 70-ish for Ultegra 11 speed cassette and also bought Sram rotors.

It might look expensive compared to 105 Di2, but 105 groupset costs 1000€ + I'd have to sell stock crank and buy new one (because Shimano doesn't pair 165mm crank arms with their groupsets), replace rotors with Sram or Hope (don't trust Shimano Shite tech rotors), running costs of 12 speed group are higher too

Re: Wheels upgrade
I have ICAN Aero 50 and Elite SLT (not edge). The Elitewheels is a proven, well loved brand and Edge is a fantastic wheelset by all means if you read reviews. However between SLT and Aero 50, the Aero is simply better in the way it rolls and sound it makes. The SLT hubs are incredibly loud. And I guess Edge also has those loud hubs. Aero's are almost silent comparatively and I love it for that reason. They have also stayed true for the longest time compared to any other wheelset I have had.

Very light, accelerate reasonably well and keep up the speed exceedingly well. Don't think you will unhappy with either. From my experience, in future if I am to choose between ICAN and Elite I think I will go with ICAN.

SLT wheelset has pawl hub, Edge has ratchet hub.

P.S. Sound is subjective, for me the louder the hub, the better. Serves as a bell for unaware people and an alarm clock for the neighbours   8)

Re: Puncture proof Continental Gatorskin tyres any good? They are good against flats, but they're terrible for riding - heavy, slow and a massive pain to put on. Pirelli Cinturato Velo, GP5000 All Season are better choices.
