Re: VB-R-066 D Build
Yeah, I had to drive an hour and a half to go pick up the groupset but was worth it. I haven't found another used hydraulic groupset anywhere since for a decent price. I did have to spend $70 on (2) 160mm rotors & a $20 shim kit for the rear brake caliper (previous owner used 140mm rotors). Oh, and a bottom bracket was $35 from Amazon. So, probably $650 total.42cm handlebars look very odd on such a small bike, makes the front end look very out of proportion imo. August 01, 2022, 06:04:10 AM |

Re: Word of warning when it comes to Velobuild (VB068 in particular)
wow that sounds nasty. Good thing you've recovered. After the first crash I made sure they were tight each time I went out. With the two wheelsets it happened on it was two different skewers; whatever comes with a pair of shimano rs 81 c50's and a pair of lightbicycle, definitely not lightweight. I've since used the shimano rs 81 c50's with the same skewers on my commuter bike with 3000km over some really bad roads and the same problem has not occured. I remember when I first had a look at the frame, I looked at the dropouts thinking they were more shallow than my other bikes, could definitely be a factor. March 23, 2023, 04:27:31 PM |

Re: Are AliEx/open mold carbon bikes common in your area?
In my area (Bris, Australia) I've seen 1 winspace but aside from that nothing. It is basically 60% sworks/specialized, 30% giant, 5% cervelo s5's and then 5% random brands canyons/scott/focus On fb marketplace i've seen some lightbicycle wheels but not in person. March 26, 2023, 08:31:39 PM |

Re: SES AR Road Handlebar from Aliexpress
I like that they have a decent looking aluminum bar option at a reasonable price. The 75mm reach makes it something I'd be interested in as well. But, $275 puts the carbon option out of consideration when there would be so many other brands to look at in that price range.I agree with you on the prime carbon are a bit pricy at $275 the aluminum is very reasonably priced however. In terms of aliexpress carbon bars, i've watched a lot of vids involving full china builds & read a lot forum posts and overall people have a positive time when it comes to their builds, however the one component in the builds that frequently have issues is the carbon bars. They are either incredibly flexy to the point that aluminum is far better, develop cracks after a month of normal use, or have holes that are so poorly drilled they cause issues with build and require some work from the customer. Like all cheaper carbon parts there's always a risk to gain you are willing to take, for me at least, the 200g saving isn't worth the potential broken bones from carbon handlebars snapping on me. Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Looking at the Sensah shifting mechanism, the shift lever extends further inward compared to Shimano shift levers, hence the looser hoods. Who knows if they were forced to design it that way due to skirting around patents?I don't think they really care about patents i'll be honest. The indexing on sensah is a real pain compared to shimano imo, you really need to get it dialed in perfectly or it performs like trash. I prefer the hoods shape on sensah, it is a lot more comfortable when i get aero on the hoods and I like the shifting mechanism, but the end product still has a long way to go imo to get the shifting performance that shimano has. The FD is pure trash compared to Shimano, i'm heavily considering just dropping the fd and just running 1x on my sensah setup. March 29, 2023, 07:51:06 PM |

They also have this one for even cheaper ($359) https://www.the-house.com/frstrmb49zz-framed-bikesThat logo font is so damn ugly, i'd prefer just a non painted frame over that. April 03, 2023, 12:05:14 AM |

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
I'm currently using three 24mm alloy spindle cranksets, two are carbon and one is hollowed alloy. The cranksets I'm using all use the 2 pinch bolt setup similar to Shimano, but like I said they use the smaller M5 bolts (4mm hex) that aren't as strong as M6 (5mm hex) bolts that Shimano uses. The cranksets I have all use direct mount/GXP (3 torx bolts) chainrings while using the hollow tech style non-drive side, so they're a hybrid of Shimano and SRAM.From what I've seen is that lots of parts from aliexpress have no issues hitting the "lightweight" criteria, the issue is longevity of the parts. It's very easy to cut material from a product when you haven't actually tested it to be safe. April 18, 2023, 08:08:02 PM |

Re: Yishunbike R1058-D
If they OEM for Ribble does that mean they could potentially create the same frame+handlebars as the Ribble Ultra SL R?

Re: Carbon Road Bike Wheelset 700C Princeton Disc Brake Clincher Wheels UD Glos
I would not advise purchasing copies, the manufacturers are less concerned about creating a solid product that is enjoyable to ride and more about creating something that looks like what it is trying to copy.
