Any update on the paint issues or did you just leave it?

I just kind of left it. I'm worn out about the whole situation and just took the loss.

VB seems to use the same RD hanger and mount for all of their frames. A 168 owner bought a direct RD hanger from this link which includes the external mount as well https://chinertown.com/index.php/topic,3147.msg53129.html#msg53129
Thanks! I'll give it a try.

I did my first ride on my Velobuild CX-002 last weekend and halfway through it, i started noticing that my rear wheel was feeling loose and moving sideways. It turns out that the plastic cap that holds together the rear derailleur hanger and the axle with a tiny bolt fell off at some point. It could have been a catastrophic failure but luckily, i caught it just in time.

I already asked Chris at Velobuild for a replacement but since it's being shipped from China, it's going to be a while before I receive it. Is there anything I can do as a temporary fix? Or maybe get a similar part from a different frame manufacturer somewhere in the U.S.?

Pictures fore reference:

To be honest, i haven't experienced any headset play and I'm cognizant that this is something that happened to many people here. Yes, it's an impractical design but i guess if you have the correct fit since the beginning it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Lifesaver! Thank you!

I have a feeling this is not going to be possible but for anyone that has ordered a Velobuild frame with separate stem: Is there a way to put spacers on top of it? I don't want to commit to cutting the fork entirely but I guess this is a design flaw or they seriously expect you to get your stack height 100% correct at first or with all the spacers under the stem. Picture for reference:

Just a quick update on this: I did eventually receive the stem even though it took a really long time. The tracking they provided started providing information around 15 days after they told me they had shipped it but had to wait a really long time before receiving it. My shipping address is in California, US but I guess they labeled it wrong because it got shipped to Canada before it got shipped back to California  ::)

Thanks, it's good to have that datapoint so i guess I'll wait. It's been almost two months since i initially paid for the frame so i sure does feel like a long time...

I ordered a CX-002 frame and received it over two weeks ago. Unfortunately, they shipped an incorrect stem length which I can't use so I contacted them the same day I received the package and ever since then it's been hell to try to get a replacement. They are extremely slow at responding emails and keep making excuses for not sending the replacement. A couple of days ago they provided an epacket tracking number which doesn't provide any information at all. Most of the tracking sites say it's an invalid number and USPS says the label was created but not dispatched.

I can't finish the build without the stem since I have to do all of the internal cable routing and all of the available integrated stems in the market are over $250 USD.

They also did the painting wrong and totally not like what they show in the pictures but at this point I don't even want to start arguing about that until i get the correct stem.

Is it fair to open up a Paypal dispute at the moment? Will it get me anywhere?

Cyclocross Frames, Wheels & Components / Re: True CX frame (not gravel)
« on: September 18, 2023, 09:27:47 PM »
I just ordered the tantan gr045! It has the exact same geo as the new Blue norcross. I believe tantan is the same mfg blue uses for their production bikes.

This is an interesting cross bike with long reach and 70 hta and longer front center than most cx bikes. I think its a great mix modern and classic cx geo.

Ordered from tantan's alibaba store. Will report back when I receive the frame.

I'm really tempted to get one too since I've been drooling over the Norcross for a long time! Did they tell you how long they're going to take shipping your frame? Tha Alibaba page says it could be delivered by November... ::)

Just to add one more data point to this conversation; I got my R12 at the end of last year and it's been a flurry of issues with it since then:
  • They didn't include a cable stop for mechanical front derailleurs, which they later shipped and delayed my build
  • The handlebar/stem was failing to secure properly to the steerer tube which caused it to loosen up while riding (Scary sh*t!). I've built quite a few bikes and I was pretty confident that this wasn't human error, I later took it to a shop and they confirmed it. It was a long back and forth with Yoeleo's customer support that took months! They kept sending small parts for me to try out like the compression plug, steerer tube adapter, and stem bolts which didn't fully fixed the issue, the handlebar still loosened up but not as frequently.
  • Since they were dragging their feet and refusing to replace the handlebar I had to take the loss and bought a handlebar from a different brand. I still had to buy an ST1 stem from them (which they offered at a slight discount   ::)) because the integrated cabling system doesn't play nicely with anything else
  • The bike works fine now which proves my point that there was an issue with that particular handlebar/stem. They still refuse to accept that.
  • I also discovered that the clamp that holds the saddle together was wearing out internally; The notches that help keep the saddle from rotating had all but disappeared. I asked them to send a replacement along with the other small parts they they were sending and they told me they would but they never did. When I confronted them about it, they blatantly lied and told me that they did ship it. At this point, I just gave up...

What a massive waste of time and money! I'm so profoundly disappointed because I had previously bought a couple of wheelsets from them and they are really good.

I've got a fork from them recently and the quality was surprisingly good at a reasonable price so now I'm thinking about getting a wheelset which start at around $279 plus shipping which is a great price. Any thoughts or experiences with their wheelsets?
Thanks!

The second option is the same fork that comes on the Rinasclta Granite/Airwolf YFR 066/CWind whatever/etc. I'd love to build a steel all road bike around one of those.

Thanks, I'm leaning towards the second option as I've heard so much about the Rinasclta here. Have you purchased from this seller before?

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Internally routed road fork?
« on: April 17, 2023, 07:27:37 PM »
Hi, I'm looking for a carbon road fork with tire clearance of around 32-35mm and internal routing. Any recommendations? I've looked Ebay and Aliexpress but for some reason I only keep finding externally routed forks.
Thanks for your help

I have an Alpha 35 disc wheelset from Ican that I really like with my shimano bike but now I want to take it to a bike with a Campagnolo groupset. Unfortunately, after talking to their customer service, they don't have a campy freehub body for that wheelset and aren't interested in selling one to me so I'm trying to figure out if there's a compatible freehub body from Aliexpress that will fit. Does Ican make their own hubs or just rebrand them from another source? Where can I find it? Also, how whould I go about actually changing the body? The hub doesn't seem to have any cones that I can loosen to extract the freehub.
Thanks for the help.
