I asked Peter if they would be carrying a gravel frameset in the future after seeing this post https://ridinggravel.forumchitchat.com/post/chinese-carbon-gravel-build-carbonda-8254658?trail=75 (https://ridinggravel.forumchitchat.com/post/chinese-carbon-gravel-build-carbonda-8254658?trail=75). I've attached the picture Peter sent me. I'm not sure I'm that in to what Peter will be offering but I will wait to see what the real pictures look like.(http://i.imgur.com/r8lGNTsh.jpg)

Interesting.. I've gotta be honest, I've never even heard of a "gravel" bike. Mind filling me in on what the difference between regular cyclocross and gravel bikes would be?

With bike tech advancing and sometimes mix-matching, the terms can likewise get lost in translation. But from what I understand "gravel bikes" are supposed to still be pure roadies that can handle unpaved roads (gravel road not off-road). :-)Most often still full rigid but might sport a larger wheel 28-35mm. Cyclocross are pretty much road married to mtb and built to handle off-roads while still can be fast on un/paved roads. CX would most often have that suspension fork. But don't quote me on that, it's just how understand it.

@Sitar_Ned, Here is a short one :)
A gravel bike, is an endurance race bike( more relaxed position than a pure race bike ), usually with disc brakes and that allows big tires( ~40mm ).
And it is all the rage in the US... well it seems from here in Europe.
I'm planning to build a road bike early next year. But due to my long legs, the gravel geometry is perfect for me.
However I just commented to Peter, that this one wasn't that relaxed as I was expecting.

Hey Eskimomo thanks for posting that - I was wondering the same if Peter had anything coming.
I am in the market for the same type of frame, I have so far found there seem to be three models available.

CFR505 - http://www.carbonda.com/road/gravel/cfr505.html (http://www.carbonda.com/road/gravel/cfr505.html)
(same as frame XM/Peter plan to stock it looks?)
Not keen on BB86 personally, would want BSA. Is the seat post not standard as it comes with frame?

Again BB86 - but I emailed to ask if it comes in BSA. 100x12mm front axle.

These look identical, 100x15mm axle - not a problem but road frames seem to be going 12mm.
I have only just started looking, I have heard of all of the above except carbonda, will have to research the others for quality I guess.
Has anyone seen any other variants? I think the Chinese Carbon frames are only just waking up to these with flat mount brakes.

@whitecitadel, Thanks for sharing the links!
The CFR505 is not the same as Peter's frame, the geometry shows an insteresting higher stack, shorter reach, and a longer headtube.

thanks for filling me in tripledot and carbonazza. It's interesting to watch how the bike types segment into new categories based on rider needs. A bit confusing, but interesting.

Always fun to watch their video's :)
I would say: gravelbike with 2x11 (50/34, 11-28), that's what I'll go for.

Why not going for one these frames?
CS-286 - http://xmcarbonspeed.com/Productinfo.asp?f=1377
- not flat mount
Pro:
- front: 100x15mm, rear: 142x12mm
- BSA (and more)
CS- 065 - http://xmcarbonspeed.com/Productinfo.asp?f=1480
- Flat mount
Pro:
- BSA
Cons (is it ?):
- front: 100x12mm (harder to find any nice front wheels, not really sure about this, I'm into mtb wheels)
