I'd probably go with the 30mm wide DSS-HR930C you mentioned in your last post.  That's a good middle of the road width and can work with lots of different tires from 2.1 up to 3.0 in width.

It's interesting to me how it seems as though 50% of those that try an oval chainring say they feel there is an improvement in pedaling performance and 50% say they really don't notice much of a difference and end up going back to a round chainring.

Nice looking chainring though, what the retail on that ring?  Out of curiosity, I wonder if they make a Boost compatible ring.

My suggestion would be a Trek Stache (or equivalent 29+ Chiner frame) with front suspension.  However, I am biased as I own two of them.

Typically people who are 5'-8" with a 30" inseam would ride a med (17") frame.

Very good article. Thanks!

By the way, do you know why my DT Swiss rear hub lost its total silence?
Is it just grease? Do you put it often?

I would assume it just needs to be re-greased or have the correct grease.  DT Swiss makes special star ratchet grease that is a particular viscosity which gives the star ratchet just the right amount of sound.  Once I used Park Tools grease and the hub got very quiet.  If the freehub is very noisy I would assume that it's just dry and needs lubricant.

Some good info on freehub bodies.  You can see why I think DT Swiss makes a good design, especially for the money.  However, if money was not an issue, Chris King hubs are truly amazing and I can see why they are so expensive.

I really enjoy riding my Stache 9.8, the Line Pro Carbon wheels are very good, so far I've not had any problems with them.

It is 20.7 lbs complete with pedals and a bottle cage. The rims are 27mm internal. Really makes a 2.25 tire have a wide footprint. I also have a set of xx1 cranks I am about to throw on it. You still have your bike Carbon_dude?

No sold it about a year ago, changed over to plus tire bikes.  A plus bike is not as fun climbing uphill, but is twice as fun the other 50% of my ride, the grip is great and the ride comfort is what I'm all about these days.

Reminds me of my -057 I built a few years back.  Mine had an XX1 groupset and carbon wheels, weighed 19.5 lbs, it was a fun bike.

Welcome!  Don't bother with Nextie wheels, the wheels that Peter sells are cheaper and just as good.

Talk to Peter at xmcarbonspeed.com, I thought there was a new Chiner carbon frame that was going to be available.

I'm probably not going to use fox suspension so no twinlock levers. As for tires I'm looking at a Maxxis Minion DHF 29x2.5 in the front and a 29x2.3 Minion SS in the rear. I hope the 2.3 clears and peter was just being conservative.

Rockshox also has a twin pop-lock option if you went RS suspension front and rear.

I'd say a medium, 17.5" frame.
