I’ve been looking at the diycarbon XCR29 but I don’t like all of the geo. I’m wondering if there’s something a bit more modern. I’d like a HTA 66-68 at 100-120mm fork, STA 73 or steeper, reach around 450-470 depending on angles. Chainstay 430-435 or so. I’d like to build a fast carbon hardtail to ride local xc trails and races, some gravel or bikepacking. I’ve thought of going steel for a similar price but it would be fun to have this bike be light

This is pretty much a carbon copy of the epic ht but I'm not sure if anyone has built one or has any feedback on spcycle.

Og-Evkin CF-052 is also the same geometry. I just ordered one in 17". The seller told me they stopped making them. I had the last 17".
-
On mtb-news.de there is stories of cracking sp-m05 frames from normal use.
I would be cautious with that one.
A shame that the cf-052 is discontinued. A boost version would be awesome.

Damn. I saw one guy on here in an old thread say the sp-m05 lasted him a long time but I have no clue how big he was or how hard he rides.

I'm a big fan of my Airwolf YFM-026. Others have had issues but I've had no problems.
I use mine to ride to work, to race CX and for some pretty hard riding on Vancouver's North Shore and in Squamish, BC.

There is a guy on the German forum who said he rode more than 100k km on an an sp-m05. When asked about weight and terrain it was "woodland and meadows" whatever that means. One guy took it to a technical singletrack with rocks and roots, it cracked the same day. Another guy cracked his frame in the same place, just in front of brake mount. Both had size L. Spcycle reply was that it probably a production fault.
The Og-evkin cf-052 is an FM699 in disguise as per other threads here on chinertown.

I purchased one of these frames last year, and am slowly building it up this winter. Mine is lightweight for sure. So far, my biggest problem was that the BSA BB cups wouldn't thread into the bottom bracket threads, and I had to carefully chase the threads before the BB cups would thread into the frame.
Edit: I have the rest of the parts on order from Aliexpress, to build the wheels along with other parts I still require to assemble the bike. Biggest frustration is that I want to use a PNW Coast dropper and missed out on a sale they had last month, and now they are all listed for sale a full price.
I wish one of the Chinese companies would produce a decent suspension dropper.

If you wanna get a cheap dropper (keeping in mind that most of the parts for your build are from Ali) - take a look to ExaForm 900i. This thing is extremely cheap, comes with up to 170mm of travel and seems to be nearly the same as KS Rage-i. See attached files - they all were located on KS official site (no direct links to them though, but they can be googled easily). Still I have only one ride with my 900i 170mm, but it seems to perform well.

Just building up one of the SPcycle M-05 frames at the moment too, size M. Painted turquoise it weighed 1,000gr on the nose stripped of all small parts. Finishing is actually rather good so I would be disappointed if it did crack in front of the rear brake mount, I guess we'll have to see. Building up with Elite Wheels 30mm IW, Thunder Burt/Racing Ralph 2.35s, Elita One post, WCS riser bar, Uno stem, Romin Pro, Fovno Ghost granks, XT 12 spd cassette & chain, SLX mech and shifter, Rockshox SID Select SL, Deore brakeset, XTR SPDs. Looks ace, should be quick and around 9kg / £1250 outlay. Will post some photos when finished.

Sono 2 anni che giro su questo telaio e non ho avuto nessun problema. Preso appena uscito da AWST

My SP-M size L build finished yesterday. 8600 gram with pedals and a little cheating (no sealant in the tubes) .
The main goal of the build is to test a frame length before buying Carbonda FS.

SP M-05 build almost done...just need to bleed the rear brake and trim the front hose. Came in at 8.9kg including Stans and cage, which I'm quite pleased with given the size and weight of the tyres.

I don't like clones, for what they represent, but these took a great looking frame as a model

I just read on the german forums how sp-cycle treats customers with broken frames. By ignoring it completely and not replying.
I think it is really hard to trust an spcycle frame given how they act.

Hello from Germany,
sorry for my poor english.
I ordered the SP-M05 frame in march 2022.
Size M weight 1022gr.
Meanwhile i rode 7070km / 150000 meter altitude difference ( STRAVA) without any problems.
The bike weights 8,9 kg including pedals.
The main usage is cross country and marathon.
I am 1,76m / 70kg.

Hello, Arno I think I recognize you from posts on mtb-news.de...
You have the size M sp-m05, where I think both the broken frames mentioned there was size L.
Maybe the fault is restricted to L.

Hello Larxxor,
yes both broken frames on mtb-news.de was size L.
My buddy Michael also own a SP-M05 Frame in size M (without any problem after 3500 km / 700000hm).
We startet our SP-M05 Project as rigid bikes.

I have the Airwolf version (YFM053) and am pretty happy with it.
