Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston)
As I was working my way through Taobao listings and Bilibili videos, I noticed that Onirii only really came up in the 3rd and 4th generation designs. Mentions of IIIPRO tended to come up in earlier searches so I'm assuming that they're no longer in the picture or are simply less involved as far as current production goes. I would also say that you really have to use Taobao and Bilibili to find the newest and best components from China. For example the new VFV Deep-V seatpost and the super high end EXS bits can only be found for sale on Taobao. Only outdated lower end stuff tends to end up being advertised to international buyers on Aliexpress, Shopee, Lazada, etc.

Just found the Onirii BR-05 calipers listed on Aliā€¦ certainly worth a try for the next project.
The design looks well thought through which should work well with todays internal routed cables.

Re: Fovno Crank sets Finally we've got Fovno Phantom Pro Crankset (http://www.fovno.com/product/cranksets/phantom-pro-crankset%ef%bc%8829mm-spindle%ef%bc%89/) on Aliexpress:
https://aliexpress.ru/item/1005003003956669.html

It's DUB compatible and probably wouldn't have problems with alu bolts (as almost all other Fovno's cranks with 24mm spindle)

Re: Fake eeBrakes G4 I read 'assembled' in US like 'yes we buy them from China but it's none of your business'.

1 leaf spring + 2 circlips is rocket science now, therefore they demand premiums, lol.

Re: Fake eeBrakes G4 I decided to give the center mount version of these G4 counterfeits a try.  I was pleasantly surprised with their looks but these are not the bees knees.

Compared to R8000 brakes (tested on two bikes with similar setups, differing only by their brake calipers) the springs are firmer and require more grip strength but I imagine this would benefit frames with serpentine cable routing.  With Shimano pads, the braking is not quite as good but it's close.  Also unlike R8000, there is a little slop in the right side pivot, the side with the cable pinch bolt.  Somehow, this results in no squeal even with zero toe, but maybe this is more a result of the Shimano pads.

I happen to have them set up with spacers for narrow, 22mm rims but I can confirm that they will accommodate rims up to 30mm by rearranging or removing the four 2mm spacers these come with.

These will not fit on frames with dropped seat stays because of the amount of space required by the linkage and cable routing.  By my measurement, there needs to be at least 53mm of clearance between the brake mount and the seat tube.

There is one really weird thing about these brakes and that's the centering mechanism.  It's tool free, which is quite nice, but because of its design, only one arm spreads when opening the quick release.  This could be a problem with tires that balloon much wider than the rims.  See the second photo.

These weigh 101g for the front and 96g for the rear, without pads (that didn't arrive -- not the first time missing items from an Ali seller).  I paid $178.11 with tax and shipping to the US from a seller called F1Z BIKE SHOP, and they took 20 days to arrive.

If the real ee brakes are identical except for the badge and shoe fixing bolts, I have to assume that they have all the same characteristics.  Thus, other than the looks and weight savings, they're not better than R8000.

Re: Fake eeBrakes G4 I have taken apart my calipers to grease the pivots and the centre mounting bolt is actually titanium, which is nice.

If you want unbranded brakes, just remove the logo, it's a simple alloy cap held in place by an o-ring.

edit: forgot to mention that mine came without pads as well but they were advertised without pads.
edit 2: shite spelling lol

Re: Pulled the trigger on the Elite Wheel DRIVE wheelset They arrived!

The set on the box I opened came in at 1,287g
It came with rim tape, levers, and a pair of cycling socks.
Valves were missing though. I've let the factory know

Its hard to capture the finish in a photo, but its somwhere between a leathery? and fibrous look to it.  However, it's subtle and hard to catch on some angles.  At some angles and lighting, it just looks glossy black.  In photos it just appears roughly textured, but in person it clearly looks smooth and slick

The hubs appear well-machined, and are titanium colored.
The hub body though, could benefit from a bite guard

They stickers for storefronts and a couple hideous 3XL polo shirts for the dealer (me)

Re: Speeder SC-R48
The geometry of the Streamline and Soar models in their 2019 catalog seem to match up with the T1500 and SLC 2.0

I do hope that they have some provisions for internal routing of mechanical groupsets. IIRC the T1500 only supported internal routing with electronic groupsets.

T1500 owner here.

I've spoken to several mechanics who have successfully ran fully routed mechanical groupsets for the T1500. The only reason I didn't do this personally was both for serviceability...and because I am absolutely sick of running fully routed mechanical groupsets this year LoL.

EDIT: I ran the hydraulic lines internally, but kept the shift cables outer. I really do wish more brands offered provisions for both options like Winspace. You can run both cables internally but it's tight. And honestly it's no more or less difficult to route internally than on a Velobuild, Dengfu, or Yoeleo.

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) I ordered the ZRACE branded BR-005 brakes for my new build.
Paired with Sensah SRX brifters and Jagwire compressionless break housings the break feeling is really good.
So far I have done about 150km with some Swiss "hills" where the breaks were put to the test successfully.

Honestly these breaks feel as good as the Juintech F1's I have on my other gravel bike, so far so good at a great price!
Long term experience will show if they are worth their money.

Here the front:

and the rear wheel:

Re: Juin Tech GT-F brake calipers (dual piston) I wish I could give you some long term experience but for that I did not do enough rides...

Comparing the BR-005 with the Juintech F1's:
The initial bite and break power feels very similar. I did not experience any fading on longer descents.
A 1:1 comparison is difficult since I am using different Brifters: Sensah SRX vs. Shimano 105.
The BR-005 are combined with Shimano rotors, while I am using light Oniiri rotors with the Juintech F1's.

I will try some A vs. B comparisons when I find time.
In the meantime I will try to get some more rides on the new bike.  :-)
