base on the pedal you use, I believe you when you say the bike was not ridden "seriously" when it broke ... ;-)

but if the seat post went pass the section where it broke, that means the seat tube has room for the post to "move around", and enough so that it cracked site tube.

nice built.

I guess the only thing I can think of about reversing the rear shock body installation is that more sprung mass, cause the body is shock is more part of the moving element. I don't even know if that's going to be noticeable. :)

Wondering what size is your frame? I noticed that the 041 has seat stay reinforcement for some sizes.

Thanks for the info guys.  That's a tad sad as I will have to change my intended color scheme.  Allow me to suffer you a few more queries.

Does painting your frame void the warranty?

Re fiber grip, I've seen some folks recommends electrical tape.  Are these better options?

I think electrical tape are just there to mark the position of the seatpost, not there to grip the seatpost itself

Anyone bought a Chiner frame with a Chiner seatpost to go with it?
Ever painted the seatpost too?  Did it still fit after painting?

I really wouldn't paint the seatpost, because the paint will scratch off. And for carbon fiber parts that shouldn't move, you should put fiber grip on it anyway to prevent it from slipping, which in turn will wear out the paint.

Thanks for the info. They do have good prices. I guess i am being caution because eBay sellers are not famous for backing up their products, especially when the term "warranty" is not mentioned. :p

I am looking at the 057, so I will probably in the same boat for frame and component shopping soon

Thanks stocake92.  It's actually a legit company, much like XMiPlay, Yeoleo, etc.  The warranty is there.  So far, my short communication with the representative had been good.  Based on my readings and understang, it looks like they are trying to take advantage of the fact that the other companies (the usual Chiner suppliers known here) have yet to make a reputation in Philippines.  Thus the promo.  I'm actually considering it.

But before I make that decision, I'd like some tips from you guys.  What are the usual questions (technical frame details) that I need to ask them?  If it helps, I'm planning on using Shimano XT MT8000 (2x11) groupset, no particular fork in mind yet but it's going to be 100-120mm travel.

Thanks.

thanks for the info and link.

sounds like the clearance was real tight. But maybe it will do if 2.25 to 2.35 29" rear tire would fit

29er / 057 tire clearance for 2.25" or plus tires?
« on: June 08, 2016, 04:21:55 PM »
I am wondering how wide of rear tires and rims are people running with 057?

Will it have clearance issue with wide rims + tires?

Anybody tries 27.5+ on 057 frame?

Thanks

On eBay, there are carbon 29er HT frame for as low as $280 ... but they don't mention anything about warranty :p

The thing is that for purchase like this, I would prefer "some kind of" customer service and warranty, just in case if something didn't come out right, or misaligned, etc.

Peter from xmiplay has good rep here, I haven't purchased anything from him yet. But if I am going for a 057 frame, I would probably go with him (the company)
