Lightcarbon LCG071-D Build Recently upgraded my primary gravel bike (CruX) to AXS components so I had this perfectly good sram force1 mechanical group just sitting around. Decided to purchase a Lightcarbon “monster” gravel frame with integrated bars. First off, all communications with Wendy at Lightcarbon were detailed, prompt, and informative. Took about 3 weeks from order date to having the frame at my doorstep in Michigan. Built the bike up completely with spare parts around my little bike mechanic area (had to buy bottom bracket and the 700x50c tires) The bike currently has red cannondale stickers on it as I had those laying around my shop and wanted to get an idea of how the red/black theme would look.  New custom red Lightcarbon decals are ordered and expected any day.

Have about 400 miles on the bike so far and absolutely love it. Crisp handling, stiff and responsive yet quite compliant on rough and loose/rocky gravel. My CruX is notably faster at similar watts, however, the Lightcarbon would be my choice for a ride lasting longer than 3-3.5 hours. Excited to get the bike on some single track soon.

Re: 2022 - Rotor recommendations?

The new Kactus look good. They're thickness is stated between 1.6 up to 2mm. Would be great if they're 2mm. Anyone tried them yet? Any rattles? How thick are they actually?

Saw these on AliX under the Onirii store.  Apparently they have stopped producing them altogether.
They can still be found under the Cactus brand, but I wonder what the story is behind why Onirii stopped making them…

looks like the onirii cd-01 and cd-02 were discontinued because they had some problems

Re: Groupset News
Anyone tried their hydraulic brifters with Shimano / Magura / Campag calipers yet?

The Onirii XR calipers work on both L-TWOO and ST-R785 brifters, so it should be fine

EDIT: RX brifters w/ BR-R785 calipers

Re: Onirii M2 and M4 hydraulic disc brakes Some feedback after using the brakes for a while. Did around 400km with them now and I'm very pleased. Packaging was very good. Some things to look out for: bolt that keeps your pads in place is strange dimension of torx. Combined with loctite or paint, the bolt was very tight when delivered, that made that I almost completely stripped 1 bolt when trying to swap my pads. Ordered some gold titanium bolts to replace anyway, so not that big of an issue. Same thing applies for the bolt that clamps down the brake on the handlebars. The clamp to hold the brake lever can be installed without removing your grips but it is a narrow fit. Installing is pretty straight forward. Lines are filled. Rear brake is not assembled but has plug in it so easy to install. I needed an extra hand to mount the clamp and the lever. You need to hold the leverhousing in place, hold and push together the clamp and then put the bolt through. So for that step I needed 5min assistance. On the rear the caliper is completely outward and touching my frame. The disc rubs just a bit in the beginning. This means that 1 side doens't move all that much. But I guess this is frame specific (Bergamont revox team) because I had the same thing with the sram brakes.

Now over to my findings of performance: They are way better than my sram Level TLM/ULT. Didn't swap my lightweight rotors to compare and it's a world of difference. The lever travel is easy to set so my short fingers can reach the levers. They are very snappy when releasing. They have a lot of stopping always. Did rides in dry and very wet/muddy situations and they never failed or gave the impression that they lacked power. I'm very happy with these brakes because they didn't break the bank, shaved 100gr of my bike and have infinite more bite and power than my sram brakes. Will keep riding them to get a more long term view but for now it seems that I will get another set to put on my XC bike.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
Once again it’s good to see that VB at least stand behind their warranty.
But I must say, all the issues in this thread do not fill me with confidence. Not sure I would buy from VB again, to be honest.

The price is pretty good if you are building a bike for the first time on your own.
The bike itself rides quite well & is very light

These are the areas on which Velobuild should focus (IMO)  & I sent this to Chris as feedback

1. Adhesive bonds on the BB inserts.  If using Vibratite then let it cure for 3+ hours

2. No paint on threads  (BB & brake mounts)

3. Make sure mounts are faced correctly & the threads are chased

4. Correct sized bolts to be included with each order

5. No missing parts

Re: Elves Falath EVO 2023 I'm really intrigued. The assumption with the UCI approval besides safety and testing, is that Elves really wants to make this their flagship frameset to compete with the likes of Winspace and Yoeleo. I'm hesitant to also mention SEKA because this new Elves Falath weighs about 400g heavier. Not a deal breaker for me since overall system weight is drastically more important. And it is an aero frame.

Still scratching my head though over the geometry (3XL), particularly the reach since it's a racing frame. My 2022 Allez Sprint (size 56) has a reach of 398mm and I'm running a 130mm stem. This setup is practically identical to my Winspace 1500 (size L) with 125mm (effectively 140mm) integrated bars.

Hoping Elves offers an integrated bar with a 130mm stem.

Re: BXT-Gravel-135 How's the frame holding up so far? I think I'm going to get this frame and build it up more as a heavy duty road bike (regular slicks instead of gravel tires). Also I'm curious on weight? BXT frameset weights seem a bit heavier than other gravel carbon frames, so I'm trying to get a ballpark weight once fully built. I'm just waiting for another sale to pop-up on AliExpress!

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218 I’ve ridden mine for around 1500km / 930 miles now and no issues. I think it’s solid. Also, the repaired seat post clamping area holds up totally fine. That’s why out of pure laziness I haven’t bothered to build up the replacement frame. It’s hanging on my wall.

I’ve been using this bike on the trainer as well for several weeks now including sprints and FTP tests and the likes. It holds up fine. If anything it’s actually quieter than my Ridley before.

I got a superlight monobloc cassette from SROAD on order plus a set of Bontrager Speed Stop pro brakes. That will shed almost another 200g from this build.
