So, the first pair of clamps is almost done. Now they have to harden 24 h. Can't wait how they work out  ;D

The very first pair I made this weekend, I used for testing. Bent, smashed and broke them. Gives me a little confidence to really mount them  :o 8)
Also tried to build a seatpostclamp.. Don't really know, if this is able to clamp the post tight enough.. but we will see.

Has someone from this forum tried something like this before?

Nice One!

Who runs full housing for the rear derailleur? Doesn't really make sense to me, since it's protected inside the frame?! Outside form the shifter to the front cable stop and from the rear cable stop to the derailleur. For the internal routing and protection of the derailleur cable I use Jagwire Slick-Lube Liner. This is how it looks around the BB. The Liner also protects the cable guide from rubbing.

What you have is a direct mount derailleur, but that would need another derailleur hanger.

Shimano therefore build an "adaptor", which is the one in the link, to mount shimano derailleurs to Sram derailleur hangers. Makes it easier for the customer to switch between the brands  ;)

How did you route the hose from the front brake? Is it final?

Looks very nice! Great work  ;)

And still lots of potential to build it more lightweight! The syntace seatpost, handlebars, and of course the tires.. For me they were difficult to seal too. I changed them for Schwalbes. Lot easier and lighter..
You could also run a 11-speed chain on that 10-speed cassette to save some grams.
What do you use as chainstay protector? Looks interesting!

For what purpose did you build the bike? Do you think the range of the cassette will be enough?
I ran the exact same setup last racing season and found that it is to hard on long distances, especially in steep climbs.

Here we go  ;)

And this is the bike:

Built for long distance marathon and CC races.

For the weight and to see if I can build (small) carbon parts by myself.  ;)

The brake hose really doesn't fit in the hole? Or is there any plug at the end of the hose? If so, I would remove this instead of drilling the hole wider. But that should work as well...

I thought it would be better to start my own thread about my bike..

As I said, I ordered some screws for both brakes.. Another 18 grams lighter now  :D

In the next days I await some Carbon fiber rovings to build clamps for the brake levers. My father will help me out a little bit on this, cause I don't have much experience with that.

That's frame is light  :o Looks good so far! What seatpost and saddle do you have there?

WOW!
That is one nice looking ride! :o

I have to get some pictures of my whip up soon!

Thanks  ;)
Next changes will concern the brakes. I ordered some lighter screws.. and I will try to build carbon brake lever clamps on my own  8)

You should take a look at the manuals on the shimano webpage: http://si.shimano.com/#seriesList/3
Maybe they explain how you can route the brake hose through the frame. With my Magura's it was/is very easy, did not have to bleed the brake.

Do you want to have your bike light or do you have your focus on performance and durability? How about weighing the parts seperatly, so we can see where you could reduce weight?
I could imagine, that for example the brake rotors are heavy..

Is it going to be a 2x or a 1x setup?

Little Update from my bike. I had to remove the remote control on that fork, because the Pushloc failed after 4 hours of racing (1 hour in heavy rain).
I switched to XTR shifting, since the XX1 derailleur was creaking. So no more Gripshift  ;) With that I changed the grips from Extralite (7 grams) to heavier Ritchey WCS True Grip (44 grams), cause I have problems with my left hand. They will hopefully provide a better (painfree) ride.
The weight did not change pretty much.. it's about 8,54 kg (=18.83 lbs).

What do you think about the chain length? Don't really know how short it can be with the 1x11 setup...
Nice clean bike!

About the chain length. I think it's a little bit to long, but if you can show us a picture when the chain is on the smallest cog, we can give a better advise.

Maybe better to create a new topic about your bike and your questions. This topic is intended to be for pictures (and specs) only.

What bike model is this ?

Finally some pictures about the chainlength..

What do you think?

That's the final setup. Got the new saddle from China and covered it by myself with a piece of leather. The saddle weighs 137 grams now (114 without the leather).
I had to use another seatpost, cause the Bontrager XXX Lite could not clamp it tight enough. Bought an aluminum one with yoke clamping from Grade5. This is almost the same as KCNC's TiProLite.

The weight dropped to 8.61 kg (=18.98 lbs)

Looks quite good so far! :-)

Will you shorten the front brake hose? To me it seems pretty long.. Or do you wait until you habe your final cockpit-setup?
