Hi,
Has anyone here bought the WCB-M-109 frame from Workswell?

hello Alcaid
I'm interested in making a new build with a FS 27.5 frame, and this one .... looks to be a good option for me
it looks like the Specialized Camber....
the only "detail" that blocks me is the BB, only BB92 is available, and that means using a Shimano BBraket which I would avoid - I real prefer SRAM ones
SRAM GXP uses 22mm on one side and 24mm on the other side, so .... the bb92 does not fit :-(
is there someone here who would have a solution to mount a SRAM BB on a frame with a BB92?
thank you in advance
-
No experience with this particular frame but I have 2 others from WW and I would definitely get another if they had what I wanted. I say go for it.

Put "gxp bb92" into your favorite search engine and you will get what you need. SRAM makes a BB92 GXP bottom bracket.
-
thank you bxcc
I found one :)
In fact I did some search on my favorite resaler websites... and I did not pay attention enough on a comment/property for 2 of the results - I got it now
I have no reason not to got for it now :)
I plan to pruchase it by end of the year, I' ll give some new about it when it will be on its way
-
I ordered the frame a few days ago, looking forward to receiving it :)
-
Hello Alcaid
I'm looking froward getting nes from about it :-)
My build is compledted on the paper (my project is to try to be under 10,5kg (fully equiped, and on the paper... it works) ;D, but I'm still hesitating for the frame size. This one has a shorter top tube compared to others for 17,5" It's just 1cm... but it can make a big difference in terms of position/comfort
so... my big question remains 17'5 "or 19"....
we'll see, I plan to place an order bu end of the year
What is your frame size?
have you found any build example with this frame on the web? I could not find any , so yours will the one ;)
I hope you'll share some pics when you get it
cheers
-
Hi,
not found anyone using this frame before
I ordered the 19" size, I typically use smaller frames (17.5-18") but crunching the geometry numbers the 19" works best for me
Supposed to ship out from Workswell tomorrow! :)
-
Excellent :)
did they had it in stock?
for the size, I think I'll do the same as you: take a 19"whereas I usually take smaller ones
can you share with us your plans for the build? or maybe you've not yet completed your equipment list
I could see you also hace a CS-196.... we'll get twins ;D
-
Frame was not in stock. Payed August 10th, supposed to ship out today August 31st (no confirmation received yet though)
Got all parts ready to assemble, not made a list yet ;)
-
Bad news - my frame didn't pass the QC. They needed to produce a new frame. Asked for the new shipping date.
On another note it's a good thing to see they have thorough QC control before shipping out a frame.
-
Expected to ship September 15th.... :-\
-
Having a frame not in stock in a month or so from China, that is not that bad.
-
That's even quite fast.
I allready experienced longer delays to get a well known brand bike not available in the shop stock but in the region stock place...
I'm really looking forward reading your feedback abou the frame and seeing your pics :-)
-
Having a frame not in stock in a month or so from China, that is not that bad.
To me it felt like they told a little child in mid December that Christmas is delayed 15 days ;D Will be worth the wait I'm sure!
-
August 10th - paid for the frame
August 31st - 1st promised ship date - delayed
September 15th - 2nd promised ship date - delayed
September 19th - 3rd promised ship date - delayed
Now supposed to ship "end of month"
I really miss dealing with Peter / XMCarbonSpeed, but he didn't have the frame I wanted this time :(
-
sad news Alcaid :(
but ... patience will pay ;) (i hope so)
-
This puts Workswell on my black list. I hate this kind of communication where they wait till the deadline to give you another one.
-

Here we go again....
We are at the end of the month and still no confirmed ship date... Maybe it will ship out October 8th, but date is not confirmed....
-
Any news Alcaid about the shipment?
I'm surprized about the delays you got... I could see some vey good comments about Workswell ...
-
I'm surprised too. My experience with Workswell was great.
There is may be a cultural difference about not wanting to disappoint, loosing face or something when something goes wrong, that we do not understand.
As we prefer generally to address issues directly and clearly, this is hard.
-
Frame is finally ready and being shipped this weekend. At least I have a tracking number now but no activity on it yet.
-
excellent news ;)
I imagine how eager you could be now to receive it
looking forward receiving pics about it and about your build too
-
Finally received the frame this week, updates will follow :)
-
I was just about asking you if you had some news
so it' s indeed Good news ;)
-
Hello Alcaid
any "out of the box"comment about your frame?
working hard on the build ?
-
Bike is built, just haven't had the time to ride it and take any good pictures yet :-\
-
I always get emotional when seeing a squeaky clean cassette, derailleur, chain and chainring. Nice colors :)
-
looks good ;)
what is your opion about the frame ?
is it at the level of your expectations?
what is your frame size? and can you put a picture with the bike completly viewable?
-

-
Not sure why, but these pictures look like happiness :)
How does it ride?
-
oh yeeeess - what a beautiful build....
what is size is your frame: 17.5 or 19 ?
regards
-
19"
My first FS so I really don't have much to compare it against I'm afraid
-
thanks Alcaid
did you checked the frame weight when you received it?
I got an update today .... mine should be finished in 25 days :-)
-
My 19" frame was 2220gr, with "dummy" rear shock and rear axle
-
thanks Alcaid
I've ordered a 19"too
what do you mean by "dummy" rear shock - do you mean the plastic part used for transportation?
if so, the weight wouldn't be in line with the given weight - I was told 2070gr without shock... we'll see
for my order, 25 days left does not let me any chance to get it for Christmass, but that's life.. it will arrive soon or later :-)
patience... patience :-)
I'll post some pics when I'll receive it
my build is already done.. on the paper, and if I can get all parts I want for a good price (Christmass time should help :-) ) it should be some kind of light FS bike (under 10.5kg with pedals)
we'll see ;)
-
By "dummy" I meant the transport plastic part yes, same for the rear axle. Forgot to remove those before putting the frame on the scale ::)
-
I was too curious so I signed up and had to ask, what are your thoughts for Cross country terrain with the bike geometry?
Also what is your height? Thanks mate.
-
Frame is perfect for XC!
I am 177cm / 5' 10"
-

It's what I thought.. but wanted to be sure
Thank you Alcaid ;-)
-
How much was the price for the frame? I wanna buy the pike rct3. Which size is better 150mm or 160mm?
-
Hello The1ne
I guess you did not read the frame specs with enough attention- a 100mm fork is required!
it's a XC/Marathon frame, not DH
;)
-
Do you think a Q156 XX1 crankset would fit on this frame?
-
Any usual Q factor will be fine.
What matter is the size of your chain ring.
32 teeth is normal, so you will never have issues around that size.
You may get in trouble with some frames if you use a 38 or higher.

Thanks for the feedback. So I guess Q156 is nothing out of the ordinary?
-
No, it is very common.
-
My turn to start the build with this WCB-M-109 frame
I've almost received all parts - the 3 last are on the way to home
if I have no problem with the parcel shipping and if I have time... the build should be done by next week-end ;D
I will Post some pics when it's done
-
hi
the build is complete, bike is tested and approuved ;D
Globally the frame quality is very good - cable routing entrance are great and give a better level than those I have on my other Chiner bike (it's similar to wellknown brands)
here it is: (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/311q8WJJfGSe1iPO_T00DEjdwxsYI4fPrLfKjdBORLyI1DE5HRR5gac60a74H2V55sY4LS4d0um7mBBipmbV13xLdiivEp6XLroAVfX2iPFH6D87-x_x5y_iCAiug-qM1JHCZpwRkB0qVW2AVhmQKkzt7trPSNVemfFQmGQ5gXaWwWRlr6trYRtBdx0kCJfPOZIvJyEoTnuCz-cufBYBqRz_uq4_FflSf1btoCTV_3WVrJSiioSxzkyEhoWy6E7IgSMCv__jVxVZ7DOmLio4nRzGoxDOyT8YMJ6sIgfWLD6q4orT3Nby7h2KJshIvfJ11p7ns9rgy3niXwdTPHI4b97V1Bd5hQ3hNP6Smix66C1wQznECP_ED5rOGUmisJEpg1bSg-oHGxpn5Jlh08rJ0iMTHwsV5gGQXBdzkv0-ptLtYIKDyRxsU5VkdYcSUGkKrAcMxgoPgqRst-8_dbNS-5I_zIGd51lHQalIQKRu4BFOWvw1VTqZzkeLrqmQcZt50jHipkjtdKqPLAnhwaQO4FQieEEC0m-Nh95UAZX8_R_ObswN_l7TjDH9l26SaSPQjIW5GmIojaaRE6oQ3HSRidmvHQaZbUE1hfXPOTXYw8UMxcBZP_WcXqCpk1a5P4rVf0jw8W-rFjiuWztSBM2PsoZkaWXPJD2Pgd8j3pY8=w907-h680-no)
I have not checked its weight yet but (after having verified most of the parts) it should weight 10kg (only :D)
A few comments about the build:
- I started by having a (small) problem with the head tube. The parts used for screws (cable entrance ) are a little too long - they touched the fork pivot so I had to file them a little

- Brakes hose and cable for speed lever were easy to install
- Restriction about Crank Set - I installed a SRAM Eagle but I currently use it with 11 speed (I'll move to 12 speed later)
The crank set was mounted with a 32 teeth ring... and fortunately for me because there is no so much clearance between the frame and the ring. I fear that using a 34 teeth ring is not possible (not a problem for today... but my wish to move to 12 speed + a 34 teeth ring.... is not sure to become real one day ....)

- no problem regarding the tire clearance... I use a 2.1"tire and I still have some space>>> I think 27.5 + tire could even fit

I did a 66km ride with it and I'm really happy about the build - Lightweight, really comfortable, and a good position (I still need to adjust the handlebar to have it perfect ;D )
it took me a lot of time to get all parts (5 months) but it was necessary to get good deals all of them.... so patience pays :-)
Now I need to train myself to enjoy more and more rides with it ;)
-
Nice feedback. Glad you got your new bike put together and are enjoying it.
-
Thank you Carbon_Dude ;)
I have done some more rides since my last post, and specially this week-end in a rocky area with a lot off hills... and I really appreciated my Full Suspension bike ;D (easy for climbs and very stable for downhill tracks)
I found that I need to a little more pressure in the fork and shox for this kind of ride - but the behavior is already almost perfect
The shox RS Monarch RT3 is a good choice - I hesitated to buy a Fox one... but RS is really less expensive and does a good job
more I ride more I'm happy of the frame/components choices ( will I take my hartail again ???? :D)

Hola yo tengo este mismo marco pero en 29" y es cierto que el plato de 34T no entra, yo lo tengo montado y tuve que quitar la chapa metálica para montarlo, mi intencion es montar 36T pero me parece que no voy a poder.
un saludo
-
thank you for the feedback
I think I'll do the same when I'll take a 34 ring
