Title: BB heads spinning
Post by: nick_n_ii on September 27, 2015, 11:16:59 AM
Ok very noob question.

Can someone explain BBs to me. I don't really understand one from another.

BSA, BB30, press fit, threaded, threadless????

Non-threaded here: http://problemsolversbike.com/files/tech/Bottom_Bracket_Standards_Reference.pdf
Add BSA that is threaded, 73mm wide and for 24mm spindle and you have mostly everything covered.

Thanks that does help.

Now the one thing on that list I have a question on is it says 68mm road and 73mm mountain. But why than do some FS frames have the 68mm?

I seriously doubt it. Well, there was 68mm BSA as well in MTB, but nowadays most manufacturers stick to 73mm with modern design. Anyway, shorter crank spindle or some shims can solve it.
