Re: Advice on new road bike frame! Fully internal cable routing + disc So I just got my frame in from velobuild and it looks great. I'm very excited to build this up and start riding.

I can confirm it fits a 28c tire maybe even a 32c but I only had a 28 and 35 to check. The 35 was just slightly too big and there was a bit of room still left with the 28c. This was on a 25mm rim.

Oh also, the frame can support a 160mm rotor on the back but I needed to use an adapter. So maybe the new 168 fits a 160mm right out of the box. I attached a pic of the one I used.

Re: Velo Build R-099 Build My VeloBuild arrived last week and I just got it built up. Its great, the construction seems really good. everything was precise and in the right places. There were definitely a couple little details that had been overlooked. For example, it would have been really helpful to have a shift cable race under the bottom bracket but instead it was just a hole. Which means that you have to remove the BB to replace the front shift cable. But this is at the end of the day a little thing. Overall, really good experience. Excited to get a sense of how it rides after getting a couple 100 miles on it.

Re: Difference in quality between ~600$ and ~1200$ frames? Ended up ordering the Velobuild 186 and a set of 38's. Will post a review and thoughts on how it compares to my 2017 sworks tarmac disc. Hopefully there will be more parts available in the coming months.

Re: Velo Build R-099 Build
Great looking build. How does it ride so far?

Rides reallyyy well. Still fiddling with the disc rotor alignment and derailleur indexing a little but that is to be expected. Teething. Only thing that has sucked are those TT pro tyres. Two punctures in 100mi??

Re: Velobuild VB-R-186 For anyone else who doesn't know, I just realized that the R-168 has identical geometry to the SL7.

Re: ZTTO chains Recently ordered ZTTO regular silver chain, 11 speed, brand is SUMC. Performance is OK with shimano crank + cassette, shifting into bigger cogs is occasionally a bit slower than ultegra chain. I stripped the factory grease with paint thinner and used Squirt wax lube, and the chain holds onto the wax fine.

Re: Electronic devices Here are my current tools:

Strava(subscriber) has a great route generation tool on mobile.
Strava have their heatmap, all tracks/roads people went to. A gold mine.

But then I send them to Komoot, for review/rework.
Komoot has precises terrain info and types. eg: avoid main roads, cobbles, or maximize single tracks for MTB(but manual), etc.
And start to have many points of interest referenced by the community.
If they had the quick finger mapping of Strava, I would just ditch out Strava.

I then use the Karoo 2 to record my rides and navigation.
After using the Wahoo Bolt for a few years.
Karoo has a neater navigation, touchscreen, real colors.

Unfortunately they just compete with other bike computers.
Same poor in-ride interface, with ungraphical pages with numbers.
They could do real breakthrough interfaces with such hardware.
It is Android below, we are in 2021...
It has only ~7h autonomy, with bluetooth off and minimal lightning to be visible a sunny day.

It has some other quirks:
rerouting is pitiful
the karoo connects to wifi, but you need to go through an odd web page to load a track
the powermeter is lost when you pause

BUT... I love it.
Their support is amazing.
For instance they are currently fixing the power meter issue, and I'm sure it will come soon in one of their regular update.
