Re: Velobuild custom frame painting and decals
I think the Chameleon paint jobs are priced at a 3 colour paint job on their site. No I didn't get a quote on the decals. Got the impression they could be included with the paint job but not sure

I just checked out your build in the other thread. Looks great!   Exactly what I am looking for, but with a dark red base instead of purple

I like the Milhouse touch.

Here was Chris' answer:

Chameleon paint one color 70usd ,20usd more than regular colors
One color chameleon and one regular is ok ,80usd painting cost

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame Anything clamping on carbon: incrementally increase torque up to max. The goal is to make sure it’s tight. You may not need to go up to max torque for that.

On my seatpost, for example, I’m around 4Nm with some carbon paste on the post (take a look at the recent canyon aeroad threads of why perhaps that’s not always a good idea, depending on the design). Go very easy on bottle cages / computer mounts (rivnuts in carbon). Use loctite so that you can stay under 2Nm without risking losing a bottle cage mid ride :-)

Any clamp with multiple bolts: make sure to tighten both bolts evenly and gradually.

Otherwise, I follow these torque specs: https://www.bikeride.com/torque-specifications/

Re: Recommendations for a carbon saddle? I have this one on my road, gravel and MTB :

It is 83g, solid and surprisingly comfy.
Well... if you ride regularly and with bibs.

Not a big investment to try in any case.
And... I buy them second hand if you're not happy  ;D

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
You got it. I shoved the battery and wireless transmitter both in the seatpost without issue. The cockpit is so clean that my junction box sticks out like a sore thumb now. In retrospect I would have spend the extra money for an internal handlebar junction A.

Build is 97% complete as I'm just missing a couple of parts but took it for my first 70k ride this am! Felt awesome. Definitely a better fit for me personally. The bars weren't as flexible as I thought although they aren't suuper stiff. I also liked the curved shape of them and wasn't sure about them at first. Climbs well, very responsive. Overall very happy so far.

Lovely build! I like the personalization you did!

What size tires have you fitted?

Re: TanTan TT-X21 frame Hello everyone!

My TT-X21 bike is finally completed, It's missing the handlebar tape and some adjustments... But overall it's done, I road tested it yesterday (just a 1 km ride to check if nothing falls or breaks).

I will try to post a video soon about the process..

Re: Forum name?
Is Chinatown offensive?
Although I don't really know what "Chiner" is supposed to mean in this context though..

It comes from 29er I think.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame I found this seatpost cover on ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/384280172714
Thanks a lot! Not sure about the 3k or 12k, not really my field of expertise :).

Managed to find the correct bearing based on measurements of the one that was supplied, seems to be a standard 1,5" bearing.

OD: 52mm
ID: 40mm
Thickness: 7mm
Angle: 45/45

Furthermore I quickly test fitted the SL7 seatpost cover, fits perfectly:

Re: Velobuild VB-R-177 Finally finished my build. Very happy with the result!
First of all, everything from velobuild was excellent. There was only one slight problem with one of the holes for the front brake caliper - it was too short, so I had to use a shorter screw.
The internal cable routing was "interesting". Had three attempts but the cables were crossing over inside the head tube and were seizing up.
Got it in the end though.
Wasn't doing a weight weenie build at all, but the final bike as pictured is 7.5kg so 7.2kg without pedals. Happy with that!
It's one by, with a 42t SRAM chainring on a 105 crankset (wanted to keep this as I have an xcadey power meter). The rear derailleur is SRAM rival medium cage. Cassette is sroad 10-36. Brakes are juin tech F1 with SRAM rotors. Tyres are Goodyear F1 tubeless 28mm. There's loads of space there so looks like you'd get 32mm in with no problems. Shifters are SRAM force 11.
Wheels are from elite on AliExpress. 47mm deep.
Went for brown on black with the saddle, bar tape and tyres.
