Re: Subcompact cranksets
In the Prowheel catalog there is this crankset with 46/30 chainring http://www.pro-wheel.com.tw/main/?product=dma-cr100a-tt but in Aliexpress now is not available https://it.aliexpress.com/store/910333149?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.4ea07d12NsEAvh March 29, 2021, 06:56:56 AM |

Re: Forum name?
For what it's worth, I live in South-East Asia and of Chinese descend. I was never offended by the name ChinerTown. And having been a member in this forum for several years now, I've seen a number of Chinese (both cyclists/enthusiasts and vendors/suppliers) joining this group but it is only now that I see someone considered the forum name as offensive for being racists. Is this a product of the American woke generation of over complicating things and finding faults in pretty much everything? If so, we don't really need those BS here. June 23, 2021, 12:11:21 AM |

Re: Aluminium Gravel Frame
Sonder sells the Camino AL frame for $360 USD. It's not that much cheaper than an unbranded carbon frame, although it has massive tire clearance and a progressive geometry.

Multiple storefronts for the same vendor
Anyone who's been shopping for Chinese bikes and parts will start to recognize that the same companies own several storefronts under different names. As an aid to the newcomer to Chinertown, here are a few of the ones I've noticed. Additions and corrections welcomed.

Re: Chinese forks
Pity as the Chinese have decent alternatives to just about every other component, can't fathom that they haven't cracked a half decent fork. Most chinese carbon and aluminium parts are fine, but most of their mechanical stuff is lowest end big brand stuff at a lower price point at best imo. January 19, 2022, 03:39:50 PM |

Re: Titanium Gravel bike: PYTitans build thread
Thats a great looking build! Did you have to source your own fork or was that part of the deal with PYTitans? Paint job on it looks fantastic. I chose a different fork from the Aliexpress seller Cwind: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003127524864.html The quality was not as good as I hoped, I had to clean up the threads and the contact area for the flat mount calipers. But with some elbow grease the problems were solved. I decided to give a home made paint job a go and used the "marble" look. Automotive "Blue metallic" spray paint and a plastic foil were used to transfer the pattern to the fork. The original matte black was sanded slightly with 800 grit sandpaper in preparation of the paint job. To finish the surface I gave it two coats of clear 1k automotive grade lacquer. Here is a video where I got the idea for the paint job: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PuX8LNhLNTI" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> Maybe a full frame paint job in the future.... GR044 Post Build
Frame: Seraph GR044 54cm with accessory mount fork Stem & Handlebar: Integrated 100mm x 420mm (incuded) Bar tape: Wolf Tooth Components Supple Handlebar Tape Shifters: SRAM HRD Rival AXS Derailleur: SRAM GX AXS Bottom Bracket: SRAM DUB BB386 Wide Road PressFit Crankset: SRAM Rival 1 AXS Wide - 170mm 40t chainring Chain: SRAM GX Eagle Cassette: SRAM NX Eagle 11-50T Saddle: San Marco Aspide Dynamic Supercomfort Saddle Pedals: Shimano PD-M520 Wheels: 700c Campagnolo Shirocco BT12 Rotors: SRAM Centerline CL 160mm F/R Tires: WTB Venture 700x40 Barfly spoon mount for bike computer Waiting for Rockshox Reverb AXS XPLR 75mm dropper to be available to replace the included seat post. Quick build to replace my son's old college commuter that turned into a drop bar gravel conversion. It went pretty smooth, there isn't a lot of room in the handlebar for cables and we only had the two. I can imagine it might be rough to get shifter cables in there as well. Otherwise it looks really nice with nearly no visible cables. Used supplied headset bearings, they were pretty good. The cover and spacers are an oddly fitting alloy two piece design. Carbon would have looked nicer but it is fine. Soooo many mounts on this frame - Three bottle cages, bolt-on bento box, accessory mounts on the fork, and full fender mount points front and rear. It looks well thought out, I'm jealous. Kinda crap picture, it was taken for him while waiting for him to bring over the old bike to move pedals. If anyone is interested I'll take more (better) pictures the next time we ride or whenever the dropper arrives, whichever comes first... January 22, 2022, 07:11:30 PM |

Re: Carbon defect - serious or not.
looks to me like the frame has had some post production sanding and one layer of UD carbon has been sanded through. You can see orbital sander marks in the image too. January 24, 2022, 11:39:36 AM |
