Title: 2015 Trek Stache 29+
Post by: Carbon_Dude on April 21, 2015, 09:02:31 PM
Not a Fatbike, not even carbon, but I'm digging this new bike from Trek.  3" wide tires, 1x drivetrain, and the high chainstay allow it to be compatible with a belt drive if you wanted to build something up with this frame.

I've always liked the Stache since it came out a few years ago.

That looks pretty cool, and for a second I thought Trek was trying to revive the elevated chainstays fad from the early 90s. That'd be funny.

Actually, things come around several times in biking (and most everything else) so this might be the first hint of the elevated chainstays making a comeback. :D

I admit the elevated chainstay does look a bit funky, but it does provide functionality of allowing for a 3 inch plus wide tire, and belt drive compatibility although not usually something mountain bikers usually have a need for.

Oh, there's a bunch of reasons to go with the elevated chainstays, which is why it was quite the fad (https://www.google.com/search?q=elevated+chainstays&espv=2&tbm=isch) for a while.

If elevated chainstays come back in favor, the very lucrative chainstay protector market would collapse entirely :)

That can be arranged.

That can be arranged.

To be more specific, cmh, we'll be updateding the forum software to the latest version as soon as it's released and a like button, mobile compatibility (site scales to your phone or tablet automatically), and a few other features will be added.

Soon as it's available, it'll be added.

Sweet! Just as long as it's not one of those things that when I view it on mobile it comes up with a popup every.freaking.time. asking if I wanna add the tapatalk app. :D *rages*

Haha, no, definitely not. I know exactly what you're talking about and it highly annoys me as well. Especially when it asks every time I visit the site! It will be seamless, as it will actually be part of the forum software and not a third party solution.

I have been looking at the new stache, but sadly it is priced out of my range for a second ride.

Yes, the frame has been discussed in many threads here and on MTBR.com for over a month now, however, nobody has reported they have purchased one, not to mention how it rides.

Still would like to take a Trek Stache 27+ or 29+ out for a demo ride.
