Re: Is 50mm of spacers above the headset dust cap safe on carbon steerer tubes?
expanders of that length

I think I have seen 80 and 90 mm expanders from Chinese vendors (Ali/Ebay). Maybe there's even 100(?)
Google says there is also a 91 mm one from Colnago.

[Gravelised MTB vs. Dedicated gravel frame]

I tend to agree on the bb-height aspect. But, apart from other geometric differences, sideways crank clearance may still be an issue for some people (as in: low Q wanted). Or maybe not so much, with everything going comically wide nowadays (I guess they just make better hip and knee joints these days so stance on a bike just isn't an issue any more). Sorry for the rambling and being off-topic.

However, I find that gravel fully a very interesting find and think they might be on to something. Maybe gravel becoming the new old mountain bikes ...

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Not a new thing, but I didn't find anything on it here: I like the GUB 1166 cf saddle.

It's an actual full-size saddle like in the old days (roughly 280*145 mm). It's not super light, but with 160 g still ok.

I'm not a bike fitting person, but I'd say this kind of shape is quite versatile as far as use cases go (and maybe asses, too). On the one end, you can slide back, sit rather upright(ish) and have almost all the weight on you sit bones - it even has very very subtle convex bits towards the back (roughly where the rails terminate in the shell, but wider). So, you could kind of sit on it like you would on an SQLab, however, it's nowhere near as(s) painful. But you can also slide forward quite a bit or roll your hip somewhat if you want to get your upper body really low (and still have some space for you soft tissue stuff to not be crushed)  ... and, while probably not THE perfect saddle to go really low, it can still do that fine.

As with most of these cheap carbon saddles, the shell isn't too forgiving. But the padding is quite good for a semi-lightweight saddle.

I paid close to 50 bucks; should be quite a bit cheaper for non-EU countries.

I'm light on my material and have no long-term experience, so, I can't say anything about longevity.

I've never owned a 3D printed saddle before, so I can't compare the comfort to other name brands. I've yet to put a proper ride in with it

I have yet to find a problem for this solution. Did you buy it for the looks? Serious question (because that, I would totally get).

Going off on a tangent, I feel like "3D printing" is used way too much for marketing buzz these days, as if it was some super awesome bordering-on-magic rocket technology stuff and better at everything, just by default.

Re: Carbon spokes or CX Ray? Sorry in advance, I'm not purposely trying to be a pita, but what is this responsiveness thing?
I mean, it surely is not about transferring rotation from the propelled hub to the rim. I'll go out on a limb and just say windup isn't really a thing in cross-laced bicycle wheels (unless you do some crazy shit like trials).
Is it about the wheel responding to the ground as best it could? According to some, wheels with a bit of self-steer (aka sideways flex) would actually fare better in that regard.
Or is it about the wheel reporting road roughness back to the rider (not that anybody would want that)? While overall stiffness would help a little in theory, it's mostly down to the tires.
Or is it just about the wheels feeling, like, reeeaaaaally good when accelerating, go woosh and give you a fat grin? Just go a fair bit lighter than what you had before.

Re: 32C tyre clearance on this bike? From the picture it seems the chainstays get quite a bit tighter towards the spokes. It's probably just perspective. But to make really really sure, check that width, too. Having to ease up on the tire pressure in order to mount the rear wheel would be one thing (not the end of the world, but borderline annoying), but a wide rim not passing through would be a real bummer. Again, probably no issue at all ... just for peace of mind.

Re: Carbon spokes or CX Ray?
Carbon by it's very nature is not very good at stretching. The fibers have very good tensile strength and will stretch very little before they break. That's why carbon makes for stiff frames.
I feel you're mixing up material properties here. Strength and stiffness are different things, and so is elongation at break. Carbon fibres are strong and have comparatively little elongation at break, true, but neither is what makes carbon frames stiff.

Re: Recommendations needed on carbon fork cutting tool Don't tell anyone. I use a pipe cutter to mark* a straight cut line and then freehand away with a medium to fine(ish) metal blade.

*Wheel just barely touching, no crunchy noises ...

I don't like these blatant copies. That's one step too far..
It's OK to call them counterfeits.

Re: Track drop handlebars with mini horns - where to find Not what you asked for, but maybe an option, if you're OK with DIYing: I've seen people use gutted/modded/cut dropbar brake lever housings for exactly that purpose. There should also be a few off-the-shelf options.

Might be a little heavier and not look as rad, though. But of you use bar tape, it's probably good enough for the style police.
