Title: Dt swiss x12 and the ip256 frame
Post by: Sjon7283 on October 29, 2014, 05:09:34 PM
Today i converted my dtswiss hubs from 9mm qr to 12x142. I also recieved my dt swiss x12 axle. Is anyone familiar with this axle? Is there a end bolt? (Note: i have not recieved my frame yet, so i couldn't check it out)

I have the DT Swiss axle.
There is an end bolt.

You may have bought only the axle.
I saw on bike24.com they do sell them together or separately.

He mentions the x12...I am assuming that means the syntace x12 style which won't work here as these use shimano e-thru style
dtswiss makes both versions.

Sjon7283, I'm afraid you have to return/exchange the DT Swiss axle you got. brmeyer135, is right.

The E-thru is the one needed for the dropouts that come with the 256 frame, and has an end bolt.
While the X12, based on syntace design, expects a thread integrated in the dropout.

Hello guys, i'm considdering a more lightweigt rear axle. As already mentioned in this thread, it had to be a e-thru Shimano type axle. Carbon-ti has a Nice alternative. Anyone uses a lightweigt rear axle?

I've researched it, but haven't used the lighter weight rear axles.. Ultimately, I came to the conclusion that extra $$$ just isn't worth the negligible performance/weight gain. Of course, if you're counting grams and don't mind spending an extra $30 or so then it is a higher quality component. I just decided my budget was better spent on other things in the build.

The Venture is.  And the axle they sell is. So I suspect it probably is too.
