Re: Advice on where to buy a frame - dengfu/ican/velobuild ?
Can guarantee that Velobuild is not using any T1000 carbon. Their frames are amongst the heaviest ones coming out of china!

We can guarantee we use T1000 - 1K carbon for our VB-R-177 and VB-R-218 frames  ;)

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
There seem to be electronic groupsets coming out of China now. Spotted this today. For MTB only (I wasn't able to find road group) but it won't be too long before Sensah drops their Empire electronic set. Or is it already out?
Anyway, I see two batteries, chargerm USB? cable, an interestingly shaped RD. Hope someone writes a review on one soon!

This pic looks awesome, did you take it?

Also looks like Seth over at Berm Peak did a short review on that electronic drivetrain two-or-so weeks back:

Re: Can I trust TaoBao TI Spring? Hmm, I suppose Taobao is a much more exclusive China and territory website, even if you can make an account I'm not sure if it'll let you order. Chances are that this vendor on taobao also sells on alibaba or aliexpress. Their store page has categories for many ti parts like car exhausts, motorcycle springs, and camping equipment, but the only items they have for sale are springs and ti bolts. I doubt they can actually make a good exhaust.

They also offer an anodising service, so I could have my shock in gold, blue, purple, or all the colours of the rainbow. I think raw titanium colour works best for my bike though. Not to mention they do engraving/etching too.

Their standard titanium spring costs about $60 USD, but they also have a beta titanium spring for about double the cost. They claim that it's much lighter, and they posted a picture of a spring weighing in at 120 grams. I was originally looking at the standard one but the beta one is pretty eye catching.

I'll probably order this in a few weeks. Will keep you guys updated on it.

I caved in and bought this GR9 gravel groupset for a gravel bike I'm currently building. I was debating between this and the Sensah SRX, but the LTwoo Shimano compatibility and cheaper price won me over. I can mix-n-match the LTwoo RD and shifters with my Shimano components. Since I don't have any SRAM gear, the Sensah SRX wouldn't be compatible with the rest of my gear. With the current sale, I was able to apply a promo code to reduce the price. I also purchased a lightweight 11-50t cassette to go with the GR9 groupset.

Re: Velobuild VB-R-218
In above diagram the cable for front derailleur is routed above the BB or below the BB? Or it doesn't matter

In the photo it's routed under the BB. If the 218 is anything like the 177, then the cable surely has to go under the BB. There's not really enough space to go over, the bend would probably be too tight anyway

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Placed an order for Shimano M6100 12s groupset with KMC chain and 11-46 cassette. Assuming Shimano components are genuine, felt like a good deal. The cassette is a weak link (Sunrace) but if it runs for a thousand or so miles I'll be happy. Overall not bad for $97~. Fingers crossed.

If the SunRace cassette is the weak link, then thats a pretty good deal. Their stuff is better than any chinese brand you'll find that's for sure.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc!
Any thoughts on Shimano derailleurs being sold on Aliexpress? Are they genuine or I am better off finding something locally on CL or OfferUp?
During this and previous year I've bought m7100, m6100 and m5120 RDs - not from exactly that seller you posted link to, but from one with high rates. A buddy of mine bought m8100 and m5100. All of these RDs were genuine.

Any thoughts on Shimano derailleurs being sold on Aliexpress? Are they genuine or I am better off finding something locally on CL or OfferUp? Looking to repurpose my donor bike into flatbar hybrid/gravel bike and about to pull trigger on this:

On similar note, Tektro brake pads. Saw in comments that people were wondering if they are genuine or good fakes - it was hard to guess.

For Shimano I usually go through 007 Bike Store or Anrancee cycling store, both have good reviews and geniune parts (from what I can tell, and what my LBS can tell)

Re: VeloBuild Headset Play Issue Using Separate Stem/Handlebar: Resolved.
An update on dust cap and headtube gap. Copying my response from GF002 thread -

————

Also an update on C ring and dust cap fitting about 1.7mm above the top of head tube - from a machinist friend I got my dust cap/base sanded off by a 0.6-0.7mm on the inside (outer part is untouched but the part that rests on C ring is now deeper by 0.7mm) this has solved the problem of unnecessarily large gap.

The dust cap now sits just about 1mm above head tube. Since it rotates, I didn’t want go any more deeper or add spacers. There is no headset play after tightening the top cap.

Anyone having same issue - this something that I won’t recommend doing at home with Dremel (like I originally thought and quickly abandoned ship).

This last part, thanks to Eucalyptus.

Very glad you got it sorted in the end! A friend with the right tools is always good to have, I have asked for help on many occasions from people better suited for the job  :) ;D
Thanks for the mention too, made my day!

As a matter of fact I actually just finished my headset dilemma today ! What a coincidence. I have shared it on Weightweenies with pictures of how it started and what the finished product looks like. It has been hours and hours of filing and trying to get the right fit with various parts.
