Is that a problem you guys have seen before, or are you just being proactive? My S-Works Tarmac had exposed bare cable routed under the bottom bracket and I never had any issues in the 2 years I owned it.

Why are you drilling out the cable stop? Just run bare wire through the frame, it's a lot easier.

I've done Jagwire on all three of my road bikes with no issues, FWIW.

I used from 400 grit sandpaper and just cleaned out the bottom "cup" of the head tube, and now the bearing goes in with slight pressure. Thanks for letting me know that it should go in easy!

The bearing OD is pretty much right on 52.0mm. The ID of the head tube is between 51.7 and 51.9, although it's tough to measure with calipers. I'll try cleaning up the inner surface and see if it drops in.

I was poking around last night and dry fitting components together. Quick question for the guys who have built 256's, did your headset bearings drop right in, or did you need to press them in? The top (NECO) bearing drops right in, but the bottom won't. I'm leery about just pressing it in, so I thought I'd ask here before doing something dumb. Other options are to clean up the bottom "cup" in the frame or putting the bearing in the freezer for a bit to shrink it before greasing and installing.

Can I just replace them with any flat head screw of the right size, or are they supposed to be weak so they will break before the carbon breaks?

A few more updates. I picked up a cheap wheelset. I wanted something on the cheap side but still decent quality and wide. I found the WTB i25 rim with SLX hubs for $170 new at Jenson. 25mm inner width. A bit on the heavy side, and the hubs are centerlock so I'll need adapters, but will work while I learn how to do this MTB stuff. I've still got to pick up a cassette, chain, and seatpost.

A couple more weight updates:

Frame - 17.5 BB30 = 1111g

Rear axle - 74g

Rear wheel - WTB i25 ST - 1207g

Front Wheel - WTB i25 ST - 1052g

Chain ring - Wolf Tooth 32t- 48g

Saddle- Selle Royal Seta (spare road saddle that came with my Cervelo) - 298g

I just got my 256 this afternoon, and these screws were the first thing I looked at. Lo and behold, one of mine was half tightened. I brought it home and tried to tighten it more, and the head stripped. Awesome.

I'm in SE Michigan, and we just got a little bit the last few days. They got 3 or 4 inches on the west side of the state. I like the snow, but I've never ridden in it on purpose. Hopefully I can get this built before it gets too deep!

No, there were no cable guide hoses in the frame. Upon a first quick inspection, everything looks really good. A few little dimples here and there, but I think you'll get that from any frame mfg. Excited to get started.

I'm glad you got your shipment! Mine should be here today, they tried to deliver it on Saturday but my office was closed. The USPS tracking site has been updating well. The EMS site hasn't updated since it left China.

If that may help you, I'm at day 14 for some smaller parts, and it is still indicating "Xiamen de!spatch" something.
The EMS tracking may have some issues right now. It was even down this morning(Europe).
Do not worry. All people(but one if I remember well) got their things in the end.

FYI-I emailed Peter today to see if he could check into the status for me. He just responded and said that all EMS shipments are running about 10-25 days behind, so it sounds like there's still some waiting for both of us.  :(

Ok thanks, that gives me some peace of mind (unless both of our shipments are lost!!!  ;D).

Yeah, I'm just anxious to get everything. Everything else I've ordered is in, and the thing I ordered first is still pending. I also had it shipped to my office, so I kinda want to know when it's coming so I don't have to hassle the shipping and receiving guy to bring it to my cube. Maybe I just need to go on a week long vacation and not worry about it.
