29er / Re: Full Suspension Chinese Carbon 29er - Under $2,000 USD

Not yet.

That's why I usually just skip messing with Alibaba. Hard to tell which sellers are good and which ones suck. I ordered a sizable amount of moneys worth of kiosks from them about 3 years ago.. Was not the best buying experience. Maybe I just had bad luck, not sure, but I don't plan on buying through that website anytime soon.

2k would be a really good deal though, I'm like SN I tend to think that it's probably more than that.

Funny this topic came up.. I was just thinking about how I so badly wanted some mag wheels when I was a kid. I remember them being popular, but now they are basically extinct. You would think carbon fiber manufacturing could change that, no? I guess there's just no way around 26 spokes being lighter than three big composite spokes? What about two composite spokes though.. wonder if carbon is capable of that?

Either way mag wheels just look cool, and I would love to see some type of improved variation of the design.

That second build with the rigid fork is exactly, and I do mean exactly the bike I'm planning to build - from the tyres to the Ritchey grips, that's my planned build (hopefully by winter, which sucks but whatever).. I want it to basically look like the one below, which apparently a lot of people seem to like that color scheme - think I can do without the red hubs though:

26er & 27.5 (650b) / Re: Smallest Carbon HT Frame

I think it's somewhat surprising that custom options aren't available for these frames yet.

Hey Peter, can I ask how much they cost?

Look nice but one thing I noticed is they are the same weight as the 29er 30mm hookless. Shouldn't the 27.5 rim weigh less than the 29? Even if ever so slightly?

If I changed out my fork to a SID Worldcup, grips to foam, and tires to 520g Rocket Rons,  my bike would weight less than 18.7 lbs.

The added cost of the fork would have only been a few hundred dollars so it's not difficult to get below 19 lbs.  What would be interesting is to see a bike at or below 18 lbs while still being as durable as mine has been.

hmmm...good point, I suppose. I'm sure there's some sub 18 and maybe even 17 (?) pound bikes out there. Durability is of course to questionable for my 205 pound frame. Although itd probably be fine.

Really nice looking build there.

In my experience at 200 lbs yuo ight want to step up to the flow rims - for anybody may be trying to make that decision.

After The Ride / Re: Movies you've seeen lately

Ha! That pic is awesome!

Good movie lately? "Out of the furnace" with Christian Bale, and "12 years a slave". Both great movies that seem to be part of what is hopefully a new trend in hollywood where the big budget movies aren't all about explosions and car chases and happy endings but rather gritty, sometimes painful human emotions.

I've seen that thread. I agree that it's probably not with the extra money for most but yeah, that's the weight weenie game, no doubt. Lol. Still tho, 18.71 pounds is pretty freaking cool for a mtb.
