Great! keep us posted. Which frame are you running and what tires are planning on going with?

70mm is going to be tight if doable at all. The 2.8 Trailblazer is 66mm wide on a 29mm internal rim. I'm going to try it on the 062 frame once it arrives. My rims are 29 internal.

They charge $80 shipping on most frames so I wanted to grab it before the free shipping option went away.

Well I finally decided to order the frame. I ordered it today August 8th. Hopefully it doesn't take too long.

18.5" frame
UD Matte
BSA bb
full carbon fork with 15mm axle

There is a 5% "sale" going on and this one had free shipping. The fork was an extra $48 so I figured I would give a shot. The total was $445.55. That seems pretty reasonable for a carbon frame and fork.

So what's the safety record on these forks? I'm not really looking forward to losing my front end on a hard hit.

Timeline:
August 8th (sat AM) - Ordered frame and fork on ebay
August 10th (mon AM) - they emailed me requesting phone number for shipping documents
August 14th (fri AM) - got an email with a tracking number
August 17th (mon PM) - emailed them on tracking website
August 18th (tues AM) - replied with website http://www.17track.net/en/
August 18th (tues AM) - tracking numbers are now active
August 22nd (sat AM) - received bike and frame. 2 weeks from order to arrival

So far everything seems to be on track and accounted for

Wheels and specifically tires definitely need to be factored in when determining actual BB height over the ground. Here is some reading material on the topic.

That 256 frame with 27.5+ tires seems like an awesome idea to me. Standard 27.5 tires would mostly likely change it for the worse though.

Component Deals & Selection / Re: Chain Guard & Guide Set

That all depends on your usage and previous results. I run a N/W chainring with a M820 Saint derailleur and without any guides or guards. If you're smashing your chainring or dropping chain regularly, then sure. Otherwise they don't much.

I've had great luck with the $20 1200 lumen bike lights that i got from Amazon. Pretty much disposable at that price. My wife gets these birthday candles for the kids that look like flowers and almost burn the house down with all the sparks that they shoot out.

Most of the parts are taken from my main bike as I swap to XT 11spd. Brakes, cassette, rear derailleur, shifter, handlebars and stem are all items that I've upgraded over the past two years. Mainly need, frame, fork, headset, crankset and grips to come in under my $1000 goal. I'm over analyzing this frame decision which is taking awhile.

bxcc, very nice video.  I lived in New Hampshire many years ago so I have a bit of a feel of what the terrain is like in New England.  However, I didn't ride a mountain bikes back then, just some hiking.

Please let me know how long of a descent that was, I was surprised all 12 minutes were purely downhill.  What was the change in elevation and what  was your max speed?

Thanks again, I enjoyed riding along with you.

Thanks. That trail is in Carrabassett Valley (next to Sugarloaf USA ski area). The town has been dumping some serious money into the trail network. The riding there is amazing. Maybe not CO or UT amazing but pretty great for east coast riding.

The descent was roughly 2.7 miles with 675ft of elevation loss. It isn't super steep but there is much more smiling than pedaling happening on that trail. The 1,000 foot climb over 4.5 miles is what kills me. Maybe the 34t ring and 11-36 cassette isn't the best gearing choice???  :o

Last Saturdays ride. Take it easy on me, I'm new to the GoPro/Youtube scene. No fancy editing.

I measure mine at 2.8".  with my 1.9" Thunder Burt tire, my calipers show .4" clearance on each side of the tire at the widest point. hope this helps.
Jason

Thank you Sir.

Where do you want measurement at?

Where the widest part of the tire sits. Thanks

Is there any way a 062 owner could get a CS width measurement for me? I may be purchasing my second choice later tonight but would prefer the 062 if the stays are wide enough. Thanks in advance!

You're probably better off getting a Kona Honzo or a Canfield Yelli Screamy...they are not carbon...but have the geometry you are looking for.

Geo > frame material

I agree.
Now the Canfield EPO, now that looks like a fun carbon bike. But the $1700 price tag takes some of the fun out of it.
