Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Hi to all , I'm new to the forum and this thread , In fact it was this thread that lead me to join the forum but unfortunately I discovered this thread two weeks after I received my 831 frame and so you know the problems i have found whilst building and riding my new frame , I bought the frame from the Tideace store on Ali express. I to was told i was getting the upgraded version but received the unmoded one , Then found the fork issue and was told that is no problem no one else has complained and the fork wont be in that position in normal use so i filed a dispute with Ali express and got £158.00 refund
I'm now trying to deal with the flex problem and have been offered the modified rear triangle and bolt for $220 plus shipping and paint which with the money I got refunded works out ok I guess
In the meantime I have contacted JJJ to see if i can join in on the bolt order as a fix for now, Thanks to all the people who have been working on a solution for the rear triangle problem , Cheers, Promoto

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Ride it its not that bad, The mane issue is the bearings moving in and out of the seat stays when that is fixed its just the flex in the seat stays.
I had a Foes AM frame that flexed the same and I didn't notice until I followed a buddy who was riding my bike , I checked it over thinking the bearing had worn out and found it to be flex in the rear triangle, I rode that bike for years and it was never a problem

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Any one else running a rock shox super deluxe rear shock on there 831 and having trouble setting it up, I tried every setting and it still felt dead and unresponsive so I fitted the Meg Neg air can and the difference is night and day , Now it holds up in berms , pumps through undulating terrain and jumps.
I can still play with the set up but it feels great with 2 bands in the negative chamber and 1 bottomless token in the positive full open on comp and 8 clicks from closed on the rebound, Small bump is good , mid stroke support is great and ive not bottomed it out but it does get full travel.
hope this helps some one if there struggling with set up of there deluxe or super deluxe

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! After around 50 trail miles I have had to park the 831 , The movement of the bearings in the seat stays has become excessive so for fear of making the bearing housing oval or enlarged I've stopped riding it until JJJ's bolts are ready or the replacement rear triangle turns up.
The few miles I have done so far have been very impressive , Once the rear shock was set up the rear gives that endless travel feeling and the ride is fantastic , Its definitely more at home at speed and descending , Really stable over jumps and high speed corners but not so good in slow twisty single track where it feels a bit big and clumsy . I have fitted the Meg neg air chamber to the Rockshox super delux shock that I'm using and whilst it transforms the ride performance on the back it has made pedal bob worse when climbing so for long climbs I use the lock out
Just thought I would leave a quik   update on my impressions of the frame so far

Re: Tideace 2022 FS-AM831 Groupbuy C order with new Triangle
Of course, feel free to contact me eddy@haidelibicycle.com

Its only the first frames that have the flex issue , The new frames with the upgraded rear triangle are great

Re: AM831 - The flex-fix I have both the JJJ fix and the new modified rear triangle, Having ridden the JJJ fix for a good few trail miles and then fitted the new triangle I would say if you have the JJJ fix there is no benefit to fitting the modified rear triangle, It is no stiffer than the standard triangle with the JJJ bolts and bearing fitted.
The bearings that are fitted to the frame are low quality so if your fitting JJJ bolt fix while you have it all apart it would pay to replace all the bearings with good quality ones then the bike is as good as it can be which is pretty impressive in my opinion

Re: AM831 - The flex-fix I replaced all the bearings on mine when I fitted the new rear triangle and its been fine , The original bearings are low quality and some of them were already feeling notchy after only a few rides. I've now covered almost 300 miles of local trails and bike park trails without any issues.
I have converted to a mullet set up which i really like
