Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
how come the frame is vastly available with BSA now? back then PF was the only option. As I still haven't started to build up the bike, I don't know if this is going to be a problem or now, but I don't think it will

I am coming up on 2,000 miles on my build with PF bb, using DUB no less, and have zero issues with creaking or bearing wear.  BSA is not guarantee of a good bb, and PF is not a guarantee of a bad one.  Carbonda's manufacturing seems to be good enough for either standard.  I'm also using PF on my CFR505 with 10,000 miles on it, again zero issue.

Re: XCADEY XPower-S Power Meter €219 I believe DC Rainmaker and GPLama both commented that the XCADEY was accurate enough but needed an offset value added to produce the correct numbers.  This would be very difficult to do if you don't have another way of measuring power to compare.

I recently purchased the Sigeyi in SRAM 3 bolt boost and have not had any issues.  It seems accurate compared to expected numbers for an effort vs my P2M on my groad bike.  So far I've refused pulling out the smart trainer this year so don't have a direct comparison.

I would double check the BCD of the 46/30 rings.  Most 110bcd won't accept an inner ring smaller than 33 teeth.  Also, L/R balance from a spider based pm is just an estimate.

Re: Difference in quality between ~600$ and ~1200$ frames?
Agreed, it's a tax I've chosen to pay. I'd say it's more about convenience than anguish, but hey ;)

I think I paid an additional 100 USD compared to e.g. Carbonda's CFR-1056 + integrated handlebar: someone said they paid 800 USD for the frame, painted & shipped. Add 150 USD for integrated handlebar (e.g. og-evkin on aliexpress) = 950 USD.

I'm ok with the extra cost, if only they'd ship the damn thing already  :'( (Or at least give me a straight answer on what's going on -- they said it was being painted a week before the CNY break).

So you're saying its not actually more convenient and you aren't receiving a higher level of customer service?  Good thing they have a fancier website to accept your higher payment

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread!
I know, right, but definitely don't come with a hanger.

As an aside, Miracle only included the frame, nothing else. So I guess be happy we get a BB, headset and set clamp?

I don't see including a BB as a plus.  Assuming just a generic 24mm BSA?  A large part of the MTB community uses SRAM...give me a derailleur hanger, not a BB

Re: Carbonda FM936 Sizing My experience is similar to Julian.  I'm 6'2" on a size large with a 60mm stem and it feels long at times.  I'm slightly more leg than arm and the already stretched wheelbase feels a little long for me in tight, twisty single track and the front wheel feels too far in front of me when pointing down.  I'd highly consider a medium if I order another but have learned to handle the large.

Re: AM831 vs others??? To start with you should decide what trails you enjoy and what type of riding you want to focus on. I would not build a bike for downhill once or twice a year that you will otherwise ride on singletrack.  The three frames you listed all fit different categories, with a little overlap on the 936/909.

AM831: all mountain, 150mm travel, should be great on descents but still climb alright
FM936: 'down country', 120mm travel, aggressive cross country and light trail
FM909: modern cross country but still 100mm travel, likely fastest on singletrack

Personally I'm on the FM936 b/c the terrain here is relatively flat with occasional elevation and it works great for all of it.  I've ridden this bike in CO and UT, including the Whole Enchilada, and survived but those areas would be better with more travel.  If I lived in the mountains I would definitely consider the AM831.

Re: BXT-MTB-097 build That groupset is using a SunRace 12 speed cassette that is compatible with standard HG freehubs so you don't need a special 12 speed hub on the wheels.

140mm of travel on the fork is really going to throw off the geometry and handing of that frame.  It is pretty standard cross country oriented geo that is a little dated compared to some, but you could probably get away with a 120mm.  It was meant for a 100mm fork though.

Re: BXT-MTB-097 build From the description on the 007 page "SunRace CSMZ90 Cassette Sprocket 11-51T
(Compatible with :9/10/11 speed HUB.)"
Also, straight from SunRace: https://www.sunrace.com/en/products/detail/csmz90
So wheels should be good as is.

I'm not an expert on geometry and fork lengths, just familiar with certain frame designs and their intended use case.  This frame is meant as a 100/100 XC bike, but if the total length isn't that much different maybe it would be fine?  Still seems odd to have that much difference in travel between the front and rear.

For brakes, 160/160 is usually seen on racey XC builds, but a lot even come with a 180 front now.  I'm running 180/160 on my FM936.

Re: Winspace G2 Gravel/Road Help (1st build) 1. Are you set on this frame? It is very expensive as far as Chinese frames go. It is new and unproven, but likely fine. And personally I find it unattractive with the super dropped chain stays, 'mullet' paint job, and countless mounting bolts.

2. Nothing wrong with saving money using Sensah. However, 50/34 with 11-32 may not be enough gear for touring and I've seen some crazy steep climbs in Thailand too.

3. For handlebar I'd suggest looking at the FSA Adventure, same price range but it's got a nice flair in the drops.

4. I would probably pick a different tire. The GP5K is great for speed but I think there are better options for endurance/touring.

Re: Lexon or Carbonda (or....)
Why are you not considering two new entries ?

https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005003198785730.html

And

http://www.carbonda.com/mountain/full-suspension/130.html

That newer Lexon frame is interesting, but super short reach and front-center if the geo chart is accurate. Also says 100mm rear travel in the details but one of the images shows 110mm rear travel.

The 909 is not in production yet. Supposed to start next week if there hasn't been any further delay, but still might have to wait for particular sizes to be made depending on Patch64's timeframe.
