Re: Chinese SC/AM831 Group Buy
Eddy told me that the frame will be available in three month...
;D ;D to me it doesn´t really matter how long they will take to get it ready. important is that its good quality and durable !

same here!

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! Eddie is charging $540 right now. I doubt we will hit 50 now, but 30 is possible. $540 is still a great deal in my opinion.

A few people have responded to my messages. I'm glad it helped some people. I could do a thread on mtbr and pinkbike forums if you guys want me to to drum up more buys.

I haven't placed my order yet. I'm ready but can't decide on a color. That's the only thing I'm waiting on.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! Bbr has a small frame already and says his hits. I PMed him a few minutes ago. I'm not sure if larger frames will have the same issue. He said a product like this will fix the problem:

https://www.reverse-components.com/en/products/05%C2%B0-angle-spacer-tapered-forks

Luckily I already have one and was thinking of putting it on there anyway to take the head angle down to 65 degrees.

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread!
This is my first build. I have a rear shock all ready to go but is there any way to know what shock mounting hardware we will need? Or do we need to wait to get the frame to measure it all?

I have noted 8*20 / 8*30 but I can’t remember from where I got that.

Someone might want to 2x check

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Anybody else posting their build pictures?
Somebody else must have built by now!

BTW, I did a couple of rides on this bike (40km, 1200m of elevation in total) and I'm pretty impressed:
  - relatively efficient on the way up
  - handles well on steep downhill
  - it is easier to handle in tight spots than my LCFS947 (Lightcarbon), even though the geometries are very close.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
Have you tried such bearings already? I've read pretty bad reviews saying that they started rattling after a while.

You really have to make sure you use the right axle.  They come with three different sizes and if you go with one that is too loose it will start to wear fast.  Grease them up when you service the shock and check if the larger axle(s) fit, it isn't that bad but you can make a mess if you use a standard bushing removal tool. Roller bearings are a more robust solution but I haven't found any smaller than 30mm.

If you're not one to tear the bike down and grease pivots and bearings every year then it might be safer to stick to bushings.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! Concerning rear shock bearings I vote against: the relative movements between parts is of a few degrees and very slow: there is absolutely no need for bearings, bushing is the best solution IMHO.
Bearings will be more expensive and prone to failures due to corrosion, mud etc etc.
Consider that the shock has a damper, that it's made to dissipate energy through movement in a viscous fluid (oil); some more friction in the bushing is absolutely insignificant.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!
This is out of control. I thought this thread was about the frame, and shipping etc. Wow. Admin?
What posts in this thread are not about the frame? Haven't seen that many...

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread! There was some talk a few pages back regarding what a mud guard for the shock. I had designed and printed myself one a few weeks back that seems to work well. It's held on via a zip and i've attached it for anyone that has a 3d printer.
