Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I Finally received the second to the last 11-11 sale Item I purchased on November 9th.  An EDS rear derailleur kit.  Appears to be of high quality.  It will be a while before I pick which bike to run it on.

Re: LightCarbon 918?
You chose to make your first post an attack on the members of the forum b/c there isn't a review that meets your expectations?

Maybe spend some time researching geometry and suspension, those will tell you most of the story for any frame. After that, as with reviews anywhere, negative reviews will be more likely than positive so the lack of posts is a good sign, compared to the AM831 that has dozens of pages across multiple posts b/c of its issues.

It's a carbon frame from a reputable supplier. There's maybe a handful of members that have enough name brand frames and Chinese frames to make any meaningful conclusion from riding this one. Do you actually gain anything from some big brand review that says this frame is light, nimble, handles great, climbs well, descends like a brick? It's all subjective, and most reviews are paid, so what is it that you're expecting a random forum member to provide you here?

I didn't read ShaneW's first post as an attack at all. I have found the majority of the threads about a given frame lack information regarding how the frame actually rides/handles.   I am still newer on the forum, and when I started reading some of the threads on many frame discussed here, I felt like I wasted many hours reading page after page of almost worthless comments, just to glean some good posts regarding how a given frame handles, or its manufacturing quality and many other details I was hoping to find, that I didn't find.  (Primary example is the thread on the Carbona 909. 40 pages, 365 posts as of today, where after reading every post, i found only 6 posts regarding how the frame handles/rides.)
If I use myself as an example, I would be able to very well describe how any given road bike or gravel bike frame handles, but for other classes/types of frames, like full suspension mtb frames, I haven't ridden large enough of a variety of FS bikes to be able to provide a good review.   Therefore I hoped to find good information on how discussed Chinese frames handle, but I have found this information lacking, or I have been unable find it.
Is this because most of us are not die hard riders, that only have limited experience riding a lot of different rides, or do all the bikes handle good enough that it isn't worth commenting about, because they meet the purchaser's/rider's expectations.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! Simply amazing.  My $15.49 USD all carbon, padded, 132 gram saddle arrived today.   Appears to be of good quality.   (I can't believe that for years, I purchased Sella Italia Flight series saddles for over $100 each.)    Can't wait to put it on one of my rides and test how it feels on the sit spots.

Re: Interesting Aliexpress finds! - good deals, interesting stuff, new products etc! I couldn't stand not having any parts on order from Ali express.    Ordered a few parts for a future build.

Re: New Lexon spirit I received a message from Lexon asking me to take a look at their updated Spirit frame. They claim that the  Problems are fixed, and new lower price.   Looks like they will sell the frame without a shock for about $1K, and they have added a second rear shock option by X-fusion. (I Know nothing about this brand)

Time to pull the trigger? and be able to order and receive by spring?

Re: Gravel Bars (Carbon vs Alloy) (Flared vs Regular) When I first built my Seraph gravel bike, in 2019,  I used a pair of regular carbon Easton EC90 drop bars I had laying around on the bike.   When I started riding some organized gravel grinders, I saw that the majority of the riders were riding flared drop carbon bars.   I have past-injury wrist issues, and I was finding that with regular drops bars, my hand positions on the drops was literally painful.
I ordered a pair of ZNIINO flared carbon bars.   They really helped with the majority of my wrist pain.  I've been riding them on the gravel bike for about 3500 miles.
Since then, I ordered 3 more pairs over the past 2 years.  I installed them on my 29er hardtail bike packer,  and on 2 of my road bikes.

I am considering trying out a pair of these bars, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

Re: Gravel Bars (Carbon vs Alloy) (Flared vs Regular) I might add, I've been a die hard roady for 45+ years.   Never in my life would I have thought that I might use any bar other than a regular drop bar.  Unfortunately pain is a motivator to try something new, otherwise I would still be using regular drop bars.   From my perspective, I have found that flared bars give a wider, more stable position in the drops, which comes in handy on rough terrain and when descending.  On my 29er hardtail, with flared drop bars, I have been able to coast at full speed down 8+% grade, very rough/washboarded forest roads.   (Over time I rode these descents on flat bars, regular drop bars, full rigid bikes, full suspension bike, with flat bars.)   My fastest descent times are on my 29er hardtail with flared dropper bars.  My FS ride with flat bars is the next fastest.
In the past, my buddies used to be significantly faster than me on these descents.   Last year, they were asking how I had become so much faster.
I believe that is is the stability of the flared bars and being able to tuck on the drops in a more wider more comfortable aero position than either flat bars or regular drop bars.

Re: Gravel Bars (Carbon vs Alloy) (Flared vs Regular)
Did you put a wider handlebar on your 29er than you do for a gravel or road bike?
On all the bikes, I went with the 2nd widest ZNIINO bars that I could find, or were available, back when I purchased them:  440/575 bars.
On my mountain bikes I run 780s, but the center of my hand positions on the drops is about 620mm, and when I have my hands rotated on the flared drops, my relative hand positions are only around  20 to 25mm in closer on the flared drop bars.  Therefore steering leverage on the bars isn't that much different, but I get to descend in a tucked position, giving me a lower CG.  But, shifting can be more complex because I use a bar end shifter on the 29er.
I hope to remedy some of this because I purchased an EDS electric shifting system for this 29er.  (To be installed when the snow farts melting.)

Re: IIIPRO E4 4-Piston Hydraulic MTB Brakes - Are they to be trusted? I purchased a set of these during the 11-11 sale and put them on my latest hardtail build.   To date, I have only ridden the bike on flat asphalt.   They worked great during my test rides, but I haven't hit the mountains yet due to winter snow.  (Therefore they haven't been put to any real braking challenges.)

I want to purchase a second set, but the prices are significantly higher than what I paid for mine.  ($80 with free shipping.)   Now, most Aliexpress stores  are selling them for $98 to $116.  I hope the price drops back down before spring.

From my perspective, they were easy to install and set up on the bike.  They have a good firm feel to them with good modulation.   As I've found out over the years,  the rotors and pads make a significant difference on all of the disc brake systems I have on my bikes.
