Re: ICAN triaero A9
As an update after I showed them the headtube and asked for a refund, they agreed and asked for the frame to be shipped back. There was no pushback. Refund has not been issued yet as they haven't gotten the frame, but they did pay for a shipping label for me to send the frame back to Shenzhen.

I also found a new Trek Domane SLR frameset that was being sold for cheap so I decided to use that for the time being. In the spirit of this forum I'll go for Chinese carbon wheels

Hi, did you get your money back? What ultimately happened? I think it's a good case study of the serious, or lack thereof, of ICAN.

Re: Trusted road carbon bar If anyone is interested, I bought this in 38. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256802845939423.html? Havent installed them yet, but they're stiff AF, i can't bend them at all (off the bike). It's not integrated, but i wanted something i would trust my life with, so I figured a simpler design was likely to be safer. Paid USD41 (in 2021)
Years ago I bought https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2251801552845472.html? in 42. I've put thousands on km on it, mostly going up and down mountain passes, have had no issue at all. I chose that because that model seemed to be ubiquitous w lots of sales / feedback. Again, I avoided going for something exotic and untested. Paid GBP22 (in 2017)

Re: wheelset choices - 50-60mm deep, 1400-1500g, bitex/novatec, sub $650 I m late to the party, but i've bought 2 wheelsets from Farsports, and i liaise by email directly. You tell them what you want, they quote you. For 650usd, you can get Sapim CX ray spokes, nice tubeless ready rims and light Novatec hubs from them. I wouldn't look at their website too much, they're trying to sell more expensive stuff that virtually nobody needs (ceramic non sense, untested carbon spokes, DT swiss hubs and so on).

Re: Velobuild VB-R-168 Frame
Just received a size 52 frame in matte black with the separate bar and stem.  https://imgur.com/a/F90D6Bd

Shipped 8 days after the order was placed and shipping took 7 days to Pennsylvania.  Overall, I'm impressed for the price.  Frame with derailleur hanger is 1020 grams - about 100g more than what I would expect a genuine Tarmac frame and 200g more than the S-Works.  Not bad.  The rest of the components come in at very respectable weights.  The bar and stem are quite a bit lighter than the Tarmac system and I could save 100g with a lightweight seatpost from Aliexpress.

The frame and fork are clean from what I can see other than some imperfections in the paint work that I wouldn't expect to get through QC for a name brand frame. BB looks good and it remains to be seen whether the brake mounts will need faced.

That's great, pictures v promising!
Will be curious to hear about how you feel about ride quality, road feel, vs branded frames you've tried. Diabetic cycling and GC performance have both recently posted videos saying that the VB Pinarello clone rides "heavy" and wouldn't want them as main bikes, despite being light, stiff where you want it stiff, compliant where you want it compliant, tracking well, aero and so on.

Re: Carbonda Gravel CFR505 build

I was seeing it more like an iteration of the 505(that is just fine for many).
With a more modern look, bigger tires, inner hoses routing.
But ok, the Argonaut is on another level.

VB just released a GF-003 in the last day or 2, looks very interesting, haven't seen a complete bike yet.

Re: VeloBuild VB-R-168 Sizing My 5 cents.
I'm 184 with long legs. My wingspan is 184. I would buy a 54. I've geeked out heavily on that (I dont have a specialized dealer near me).
I have a supersix evo hi mod in 56: it's too big.
I have a giant propel L: it's too big.
I have a Cube peloton race 58: it's too big.
Apparently, I never learnt.
On all, I run short stems (80 or so, and would happily run even shorter).
The 168 in 56 would be pretty much the same size as the supersix and the giant: too big.
I do plan to run a c.100mm stem.
Bear in mind the one piece cockpit VB sells flares forward, somehow, so i'd say it's even more advisable to buy smaller than bigger.
Because i dont know how i'll fit exactly, i plan to buy the bar and stem combo, not the fully integrated thing. It's heavier, but gives me more options to dial in my fit. That's a huge thing I feel people forget with those fully integrated cockpits. Unless you know yourself really well, i don't think it's easy at all to size the frame & cockpit correctly.

Re: TFSA Carbon Frameset Build-Up Sub 400 for the frame is impressive. Ali shows me 470 + shipping right now, did you negotiate or you were just seeing a lower price at the time? (Ali also changes offers & prices per geography).

Re: Velobuild GF-002
Does anyone have a good ride review to share on the GF-002?  I have been reading some feedback on YouTube on VB's road bikes that they feel "sluggish" and am wondering if they are similar.

That guy sounds super happy, and his brother has a 168 who's also super happy.

And the owner of the DNR SHREDD paint job on this forum, i think, is also v happy with his.

I've never ridden a gravel bike and i m absolutely useless on a MTB, but I suspect that with the volume of air in the tyres, stiffness differences and the likes must be pretty hard to discern? So it's probably down to components, geometry and sizing quite a bit. Geometry must matter a great deal because a slack touring gravel is going to ride v different from an aggressive CX bike (I can imagine long moments of solitude going down rocky trails on a CX frame).

Re: Velobuild GF-003
Looks like a copy of the Wilier Jena
You're right!
Attaching a photo of the Wilier Jena and of the geometry chart.
Note that the GF-003 may be manufactured by SPCycle? (SP-G056). It looks like SPCycle is a bike manufacturer for 10 years (we know that Velobuild does not make frames, they source them and sell them).
https://chinertown.com/index.php?topic=3739.0
https://www.sp-cycle.com/spcycle-2023-new-gravel-frame-all-internal-cables-700x47c-t47-disc-gravel-bicycle-frame-t1000-carbon-gravel-bike-frameset-with-handlebar-p4398298.html

And btw, the GF-002 is the SP-G20.
https://www.sp-cycle.com/factory-direct-sales-2022-new-hidden-inner-cable-disc-gravel-frame-t1000-full-carbon-fiber-gravel-bike-frame-with-aero-handlebar-p3650571.html?currency=USD

So it looks like SPCycle makes the gravel bikes (GF-002 and GF-003) that Velobuild sells.
Note: SPCycle makes handlebars that flare out in the drops. I think VB sells the same handlebars for both road and gravel bikes?

Has anyone bought from SPCycle direct? How about warranty and such?
