Re: Looking For A Chiner Road Bike Frame - SWORKS Tarmac
Well I got my VeloBuild VB-R-068 Frame set a few weeks ago......today I went racing on it, it was bloody awesome!
I got the matt black 54cm frame (I'm 1.8m / 5'11") and the fit was great. I stripped the matt black back to raw carbon on the forks and left the frame. Wet saned the whole frame and did my own custom paint job (Courtesy of Martin Grey's Etoe Youtube channel) and the result was awesome. From AliExpress I got the saddle, wheelset (50mm x 25mm carbon rims) Ultegra Crankset and brakes, Carbon bars with integral stem, Bar tape, shifter cable set, BB109 Ceramic Bottom bracket and from NZ online off Facebook (Bikeshelf) second hand near new Ultegra shifters and derailleurs. After about 40 hours work doing the custom paint job I put this all together and came in at a very nice 7.7kg ready to race.

I did see a review that said it was not very exciting/responsive but I have to disagree....it was agile and a real rocket ship on the downhills...very stable at 61+ Kph. I did however have to make a 3mm washer for the headset to work properly and pack the outer ring of the top headset bearing with ptfe thread tape to give it a nice snug fit.

Chris@velobuild was awesome to deal with and replied same day to all emails I sent him, I cant recommend this frame and Velobuild website more highly. Very impressed overall.

How did you strip the fork back to raw carbon and why did you only do it on the fork ? Also what grit did you use for the wet sanding. Nice job btw!

Re: Ican p9 build 29er build
Awesome build!

Mind giving an idea of the total cost?

I am trying to start something similar with the P9 frame but keep the build around $2k USD

New and used items, prices are in Aud.

Frame - 1000aud new
fork -700aud new
rearshock - 400used
wheels - 300 used
tyres - 150 new p.s using the michelin enduros and they are bloody sick!!!
groupset - 400 new
brakes - 350 new
dropper- 150 new
handle bar/stem - 150 new
total = 3600 aud = 2600usd

can easily hit around the 2k mark with more used items or different tier items.

I am 188 CM and 95KG weight, would you recommend to go XL?

I saw the P9 sold somewhere in XL size but definitely not on ICAN's website.

Never seen a XL frame for the p9. Think Large was the biggest size they have and reach is 462. Id say that it would be a tad small for you seeing as medium bikes these days are at 460-470.

Re: Chinese Santa Cruz/AM831 Has anyone figured the supplier which bbr purchased it from? i've spoken to afew vendors with no response. Not sure as to why bbr would hide the retailer which he purchased it from(has every right to do whatever he wants). Allowing more people to purchase the frame would inevitably fix those "kinks" and help out the chinertown community in purchasing decisions?

Re: Chinese SC/AM831 Group Buy Posted in the other thread as well. Sent a message to topfire. Production is starting after chinese new year for larger sizes. Price is 680usd so not as good as the inital 499usd price. 10pcs less $30 50pcs less$50.

Re: Chinese SC/AM831 Group Buy
Thanks for the info. Not sure if it's worth the effort for a $50 dollar discount? Open to the opinions of the group.

Pretty disappointing how the original seller just bailed out of the deal.

At this rate, it would be best for individual purchases. Hopefully there's updates from people who have already bought the frame.

Re: ICAN P9 build Bike is so good downhill especially with a coil! only thing I was unsure about with the p9 was the fork offet. There was 2 documents with different offset though you'll enjoy the bike regardless.

Re: The Shiny New AM831 Group Buy (A) Thread!

I have most parts except for a few still trickling in and was told about a week ago it was heading to paint so hopefully will ship soon. I can try to document the build with pictures if anyone is interested? We are the first ones building it up and can hopefully help each other out if anyone has problems.

Would be good if you and anyone else who bought the frame document the build process to see if there's any flaws etc. Also would this frame fit a coil?
