Yishunbike R1058-D Hi All,

I have pulled the trigger on pre-ordering this [/https://www.yishunbike.com/product/r1058-dperformance-road/] .

Melinda tells me it is still in development but that it has passed their quality test and will be dispatched in 3-4 months. It's 1070g for a 54cm so is pretty light, they advertise a lighter version at a claimed 900g for 54cm which would put it in roughly the same category as a seka exceed for a third of the price. However, Melinda tells me this version did not pass the QA tests and anyway requires a minimum order of 10 units, I expect this version to be available next year. It lists something called 'One-piece 3D latex mandrel' aswell as one-piece molding which I assume is how they will achieve the lower weight, this feels like a new technology and evolution from EPS? Anyone know anything about it?

Yishun say: 'The newest latex 3D mandrel monocoque technology improves the strength by up to 30% when using the same material due to the smoother inner wall without wrinkles inside.'

'700c Full Carbon Performance Road Bike Frameset

– One-piece monocoque moulding

– One-piece 3D latex mandrel

– Fully internal cable routing design

– Max Tire 700*30C

– Max Chainring 55-42T'

Looks-wise I think it resembles an SL7 with slightly more relaxed geometry. The resemblance is not surprising after reading on their website that 'The R&D product chief manager had worked as one of the product managers in the Specialized OEM frame factory for 6 years and gained experienced skills in designing and producing carbon frames.' I'm guessing this would be Ten Tech Composites?

They also say that they OEM for '-several well-known brands around the world, such as RIBBLE, BERRIA, MENDIZ, MAGEMO, BOTTCCHIA, DEROSA, and so on…' which is encouraging.

On paper this should be a great frame, however it's obviously a bit of a gamble and the first frames in particular may have issues however it appears like they have solid quality control and testing aswell as warranty. You can pay 20% more to get a 5 year warranty which is a nice touch assuming it will be honoured if something doesnt go to plan so I have opted for this option.

Standard version without handlebar and 5 year warranty: 718usd, shipping 185usd, there are also different charges for payment methods. 5% paypal charge and 30usd bank transfer charge. Will update along the way if anyone is interested.

Fingers crossed!

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets I guess the saving grace of it being such a close to a 105 Di2 copy is that they've copied a time-proven design. It's not like they've created something from scratch leaving alot of room for error. My guess is that there may be problems with the app and firmware more than the physical units but that's just a guess. I'm also very interested in this but may wait for the second version, although er9 is tempting for the price

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
If you spec the ERX version to pair with Shimano Ultegra-level components (crank, chain, cassette, rotors) you are looking at around $1500 which is still cheaper than a complete 105 Di2 yet much lighter.

GC Performance latest video shows the ERX being comparable in weight to Sram eTap Red. And in general, Di2 is lighter than eTap.

That would be a great setup

Re: LTWOO ER9 & ERX - Electronic groepsets
Okay so without battery means you will still get the hollow tube shaped holder for actual batteries which are 14500 type. Any idea if the interface/wires are Shimano Di2 compatible, in case someone needs extra or longer ones? From the pictures the port does seem similar to Shimano's.

Trace Velo's youtube video of the Ltwoo RX (of which the ERX is the electronic version) says that (the RX at least) follows the shimano standard. So it's possible they would fit. At least the brake hoses, brake pads and brake parts can be interchanged with shimano parts. Personally I would swap out the brake calipers for shimano ones. The Ltwoo calipers are a slightly unusual shape to get around shimano patents and heavier as a result.

I saw a video with china cycling talking about Ltwoo, apparently it was set up by an ex-Sram engineer who then worked as a patent lawyer for 6 years so both knows sram tech well, their patents and how to get around them which I thought was quite interesting. The shifter hoods strongly resemble sram red shifters I think.

Re: Lightcarbon: New LCR017-D (or Yishun R1058-D) Hiya, I have ordered the Yishun R1058_D. It is different to the new lightcarbon, they have different geometry. Lightcarbon is the direct to consumer arm of yishun who are the OEM manufacturer, however you can sometimes order directly from Yishun. Apparently you can't always. I started a separate thread for the Yishun 1058D if you were interested, just search it. The model is there own design and mould, they have their own R&D department and are registered as a company in germany. You can get the frames with a 5 year warranty for 20% additional cost which I went for, all in it cost about 800gbp. The frame is a mix of T700 and T800 carbon, T800 on all high stress areas. Yishun are the OEM manufacturer for Ribble in the UK and Da Rosa in italy as well as some other small italian brand, the quality is supposed to be top notch. I am expecting delivery end of august/early september.

Re: Yishunbike R1058-D Ello, My R1058D has finally arrived. Size 59cm. They also said there was a month delay because of that mould issue. Ordered about 4 months ago. Ordered in gloss black. Ordered without handlebars (plan to order the lightcarbon superlight T1000 bar as it is the same price but lighter and they are all made in the same place anyway). Comes with thru axles, compression plug, headset, spacers, seatpost thingy. Quality is great, everything has been faced and masked when painting. BB is perfect. Theres a small amount of roughness in the headtube which I will sand, asked Melinda about this and she said it is ok. Plenty of clearance. Photos with a 28mm tyre.

Re: Yishunbike R1058-D @chughes  So I actually went through the same dilemma and wanted a 38cm bar assuming Lightcarbon made them as they do in the other bars but the superlight one only went down to a 40cm. I went on the hunt for a different bar and ended up settling on a random one on aliexpress with good reviews which has arrived. I'm really pleased with it, it's very very still, has the grip dimples on the tops like an EXS bar and was also the cheapest option. The reach and drop were good and it's only a -6 rather than -10 so fits well with the measurements from a bike fit I did. I'd recommend. I' m going to see if I can remove the weird logos somehow (acetone, heat gun/hairdryer) because the look a bit shit and the rest of the bar looks great and finishing is great.

In terms of ride and feel, it's not been built yet, I have been sourcing other parts and tools but will be building soon.

Re: Yishunbike R1058-D
Well, today I received the first pictures of my frame, paint job was done by Yishun and don't ask how I got them convinced to do so ;)
Unfortunately I am not able to upload the pictures as attachment, so here are the links to my drive.

Design was inspired by: Pinarello Dogma F Framekit 2023 Disc Electro Violett

I will share the complete build somewhere end of January when frame has arrived and I will share my first thoughts and more pictures while building as well.

Stay tuned!

Re: Yishunbike R1058-D Finished the build this week and took it out for the first spin today. Feels stiff and responsive without being uncomfortable. Fast on the flats . Really solid overall and pleased with it. The build went pretty smoothly, was a bit of a nightmare internally routing the handlebar however it wasn’t a Yishun one. There was a very small amount of paint overspray on the rear calliper mount that I sanded easily and was fine .
