I am currently riding a cs-057 but really like the Dengfu fm-218 which is essentially a cs-256 with different seat stays. If looking at full suspension the m06 looks good too!

Cane creek currently make a zerostack headset. I bought a 40's series as the 057 had a longer head tube than my previous bike and I was worried about my cut fork not being long enough. In the end plenty of room and I even had to add a spacer. My previous bike had a 120mm headtube length vs 125mm for 057.

I went from a fsa headet to zerostack series 40 and gained about 7.5mm which should be enough for you.

The fox sc is a great fork and very light!

The 057 frame had a longer headtube than my previous bike but I was able to use a zero stack can creek headset which left me having to use a short spacer. My previous headset was an Fsa which was a bit taller. Could be worth looking at.

29+ & 27+ / Re: CS-496 Build / 27.5+

Sweet looking ride and good weight as well. What size are the nobby nic's are they the 2.8 or 3.0 width? They look like they have a lot of volume!

I am interested in the difference the shorter chainstays make at 430mm. The 062 looks like a very capable bike. It has been pretty bullet proof too. I am not aware of any failures which is pretty key and it is also lighter than my 057.

I'm not sure that the 062 has a lot more tire clearance than 057. Activ3 could not use 2.8 650b + on 29mm internal width wheel. Patrick C was using a wider rim. 34mm internal width and the 2.8 tire rubbed the frame.

062 looks like a great bike though. Light and good value. I needed a frame to take a 31.6 seat post so went with the 057. Workswell have a new frame with wcb-m-120 with 69.5 head tube angle, 31.6 seat post and bb92 which is ok but my current fa bb30 crank won't fit!

You can try red fulcrum hp wheel set from bike discount. 192 euro give or take. 19mm internal width which is ok for xc. 1751 grams and 28 spokes. 192 euro should be around 300 Aus dollars plus shipping. come with adaptor for 15mm front thru axle and you can convert rear to 12x142. I'm not sure what sort of riding you do or your weight but these would be OK initially.

It looks like the IS52/30 is for a straight steerer and I have a tapered steerer so the IS52/40 it is then.

I am a bit of a newb and will stick with the 1S52/40 as recommended.

For starters.. When ordering this frame, you're given the option of purchasing the headset with the frame which at first seems ideal.. There's the standard Neko headset that costs about $15, and some vendors give the option to upgrade to a FSA headset that goes for about $25.

Form my research, I recommend passing on both options and buying the Cane Creek 40 series headset that can be found here: http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=39924  and here:  http://www.universalcycles.com/shopping/product_details.php?id=39947

In case those link destinations change.. That's the "Cane Creek 40-Series IS42 Integrated Upper" and the "Cane Creek 40 IS52 1.5" Integrated Lower As"

It seems that some guys are running into some issues with both the Neko and FSA headsets, in that special shims may be required to make the headset fit properly. Now perhaps this problem only affects a small portion of users.. really not sure.. but either way - both of the cheaper headset options seem to wear out prematurely.

Of course, make your own decision, but personally, I read too many negative things about the headsets to want to put it on my super pimp carbon frame.. The Cane Creek for me 100%.

Hi Sitar_Ned

Is there any difference between the Cane Creek IS52/30 and the IS52/40 lower . I presume it's to do with the height of the part? Is it preferable to use the IS52/40? I am a terrible weight weenie at times and was wondering if the IS52/30 would work.

Thanks.

Good price for a saddle. Any idea how much they charge for postage?

Hi Carbonazza the wheels look great. Good work on building them! I have never done anything like that and I will probably get some one else to build my bike for me.

It's great that many of the members chinertown build their own bikes and some like yourself build wheels.

I have asked Peter for some prices for carbon wheel sets. I weigh around 185 pounds at the moment and probably 190 pounds with all my gear. Would you recommend 32 spokes over 28 spokes? I ride cross country mainly with some light trail riding. I am not into jumping etc and I am not particularly aggressive.

Component Deals & Selection / Fulcrum Red hp 29er wheels
« on: June 30, 2016, 07:11:50 PM »
Bike Discount in Germany have Fulcrum Red HP 29 and 27.5 wheel sets priced pretty competitively. They come with an adaptor for a 15mm thru axle for the front hub however you do need to buy an adapter for the rear hub to convert to 12mm thru axle.

The prices are in euros exclusive of VAT and are approximately 192 Euro to 210 Euro depending on configuration. XD Driver is approximately 200 Euro.

I am not associated with Bike Discount or fulcrum. Just keen to pass on what looks like a good deal for a wheelset or back up wheel set.

Wheelset weight is 1751 grams for 29er. 19mm internal width and 28 spokes. Hubs are 20mm axle.

Cost in US dollars is approximately $213 to $233 USD.

Not sure how much postage is sorry.

Thanks Carbon_Dude. You are right. My wife will also be happy because she did not think it was a great idea either! I guess I was wanting to dip my toes in the plus sized tire waters but I see Peter sells a 29+ frame.
