Title: What kind of fork for the beloved 057 :-)
Post by: villywonka on August 12, 2016, 04:02:23 AM
Does anyone have like clear/obvious choice of fork that does not cost an leg and arm? And which serves me well with minor to medium maintenance?

Cheers

Villwonka

My goto 29er fork at a moderate price would be a Rockshox Reba.

ill second the reba for sure, but those new fox step casts are crazy light and they have some entry level ones that are pretty reasonable.  Have heard anything on maintenance intervals yet though.

What are the new ones from Fox called - I get kind of confused with all the names, letter and numbers on them. Does not really tell me much - except looking at the price give me some kind of clue of what is going on...  ;D

Consider the look you want for your bike( white, black, colored).
And the price you want to pay for it( compare multiple web shops to have an idea bike24.com (http://bike24.com), r2-bike.com (http://r2-bike.com), bike-components.de (http://bike-components.de) or bike-discount.de (http://bike-discount.de) ).
If you take a Rockshox, a Fox, a DT Swiss you'll be fine and will get what you pay for.

More exotic options exist too:
I run a Lauf, that I had for the price of a good rigid fork, and there is no maintenance at all and I love it.
I tried a Lefty before, which is a pleasure to ride, but very expensive and I got my share of maintenance issues with it.

Peter will treat you right. It's hard to be patient though.

If you like green, this fork is a pretty sweet bargain.

I also would say Reba as well.   If money is not an issue, I would go Fox Step Cast Factory 32.  Sub 3lbs shock!  Half the field of the XC riders in the olympics had them installed.

I love my 2016 reba with ML15 and no remote.
Around 1600g.
