Re: Recommendations for cockpit parts +1 on og-evkin: very happy with the HB-002. I’ve used it for a year now without issues.
Also really like my kalloy uno 7 stem (bought more recently for my gravel bike). Super light, great finish and looks very nice IMO.

Oh, I forgot to add I’d also recommend RXL SL: I have two carbon seat posts from them, a fork and a saddle. So far so good (over the past year).

Re: Carbonda Cfr 1056 The way I approached this is to look for similar geos here: https://geometrygeeks.bike/compare/canyon-endurace-cf-sl-disc-8-0-2020-m,carbonda-cfr-1056-2020-m,giant-defy-advanced-pro-2-2020-m,specialized-roubaix-pro-2020-54,merida-scultura-endurance-5000-2021-51/ (This is for medium, but it's just to look for comparables. Also, you can actually search by numbers for a small fee.)

Then I went to the websites of those manufacturers and entered my measurements to get a recommendation (My size would be an S for my 172cm height / 80cm inseam). If you'd like to get more visual about it, you can import those numbers (manually) into bikegeocalc.com

Re: Budget (Aluminium) Wheelset? Fwiw, I have a similar goal for my road bike build for next year. Being lazy, I attached a screenshot from my spreadsheet (prices are mostly from bike24 with 7.7% Swiss VAT). Apparently ZTTO has some new road specific hubs coming with the old DT ratchet mechanism. (There’s another thread somewhere. ZTTO R2 54t)

Re: ZTTO BB92 BB86 threaded bottom brackets. Yep, just decided to do that as well! ;D Haven’t made up my mind if I’m going to tolerate the imperfection ::) on my midlife crisis bike / 40th bday gift to self (my yoeleo r11 is being painted, should ship out before the lunar new year!)

Re: Difference in quality between ~600$ and ~1200$ frames?
In the case of Yoeleo for example, they don't actually make any frames (see https://www.miraclecycling.com/ for example).
Interesting! I ordered an R11 from Yoeleo, aka -- apparently! -- the Miracle CR015...

How did you figure this out? Before ordering (on Dec 22 -- still waiting...), I did a lot of googling and geometry comparisons to find out who they are reselling for, but failed. I'm very curious how much cheaper it would be to buy direct from Miracle (I paid USD $1056, incl. handlebar, thru axles etc and shipping)

To stay on topic, my reason for buying from a brand is that they have more skin in the game than some anonymous reseller. Even if the same factory produces the frames, their quality will vary and some extra inspection before painting & shipping can save an expensive roundtrip back to china. Or maybe not...

Re: Difference in quality between ~600$ and ~1200$ frames? Agreed, it's a tax I've chosen to pay. I'd say it's more about convenience than anguish, but hey ;)

I think I paid an additional 100 USD compared to e.g. Carbonda's CFR-1056 + integrated handlebar: someone said they paid 800 USD for the frame, painted & shipped. Add 150 USD for integrated handlebar (e.g. og-evkin on aliexpress) = 950 USD.

I'm ok with the extra cost, if only they'd ship the damn thing already  :'( (Or at least give me a straight answer on what's going on -- they said it was being painted a week before the CNY break).

One day I will paint my frame :)
Highly recommend spray.bike. Had some great results with it, very easy to use.

Re: Difference in quality between ~600$ and ~1200$ frames? Based on my experience so far, I would buy from them again.  I guess a lot of these resellers depend on the same factories and I’m sure those are all slammed right now, so I’m not surprised or upset about delays. Looking at other experience reports around here, the only vendor where you can track your order through the various production phases  is light bicycle.

My sales rep’s replies have been prompt and clear. They weren’t always able to answer my technical questions, though (e.g. the flat mount bolt length for the rear brake). I’m a bit worried about getting the right torque spec for the various bolts where it matters, to be honest. I haven’t asked yet.

Re: building wheel with straight pull hub: d411/412 spoke hole offset? The build went well! Only 0.5g over my target weight  8)  (see attached pic -- no rim tape/valves yet)

I would say the straightpull hubs were easier to build with than a regular hub, but it took me a while to figure out the key spokes visually. After that, pretty smooth!

Yoeleo R11 - di2 "budget" build Finally! After about 6 months of planning and waiting, today I finally got to take my R11 for a short spin. Feels great! Still waiting for a di2 cable, a grommet for the RD cable exit, and some flatmount bolts before I can tape the handlebars and go on a longer ride. In the meantime, here's my full build spec. (Most of these parts were ordered in Dec 2020.)

I really wanted to try Di2 (a 900 CHF upgrade over plain 105 in my case), but I set a goal of minimizing the budget, so it's mostly 105 spec otherwise. Notably, cranks were unavailable, so I decided to try the CVR Hardrock ones. One worry is that the ZTTO thread together BB is 94mm wide from bearing seal to bearing seal (a Shimano BB86 BB is 92mm, and a BSA68 one is 90mm). This means there's about 5mm of the crank's spline interface that's not mated to the spindle, because the latter is too short. The bolts on the NDS crank do tighten onto the spindle, so I'm hoping it's ok.

The other gotcha was that the 2021 frame does not have a mounting hole for the Di2 RS910 junction in the downtube, unlike the 2020 one shown in the photos. I had to improvise a bit with my cable lengths, and ended up wedging my WU111 (BT junction) in the handlebars...  ::)  Otherwise, I'm happy with Yoeleo: it took exactly 3 months from my order on Dec 23 to shipment on Mar 23, and another 2 weeks to Switzerland using EMS Express. (I paid with Transferwise, btw -- the wire transfer took only a day to arrive.)

Uncut, the seatpost is 390mm, which means the BB center to saddle rail ranges from 655mm - 790mm (minimum insertion: 100mm, max insertion into frame: 235mm, which is 255mm above center of BB). My saddle height is about 700mm and my saddle has a stack height of 50mm, so I ended up shortening the seatpost to 350mm to avoid bottoming out.

The first section details everything that came in the box with the frame.

Ready to ride, the bike weighs 8.4kg and the total cost (including all taxes, shipping etc) was a bit under 3300 CHF.

Happy to answer questions! I'll definitely follow up once I get some more serious kms on the bike -- super excited!
