Component Deals & Selection / Tubeless road/gravel tyres
« on: September 09, 2023, 02:55:05 AM »
Any recommendations on road/gravel tubeless tyres around 36mm, without too much profile, that aren't leaky af?

I'm currently running Challenge Strada Biancha tyres. I was happy with them at first (very comfortable) but the sidewalls are so leaky that they pretty much lose all air within 48h. I was hoping this would improve over time (with sealant), but even after several months of use, I can still see sealant coming out of the sidewalls. I've had similar issues with other tubeless tyres, so I'm considering ditching tubeless unless I can find a tyre that actually holds its pressure for more than a few days.

Maintenance, Mechanics, & Tools / Removing decals
« on: July 06, 2023, 10:07:21 AM »
Any tips on removing decals from carbon handlebars? I've bought an EC90 MTB handlebar that fits me well, but the decals look cheap, and I'd prefer an all-matte-black look.

Component Deals & Selection / SRAM XPLR cassette
« on: June 20, 2023, 12:24:41 AM »
Does anyone know of any affordable cassettes compatible with SRAM XPLR (10-44 or 11-44t)?

I'm considering this groupset for a new bike, but would need an additional (cheaper) cassette to put on my Kickr.

I'm building up my first bike with cables routed through the headset and stem/handlebar. My setup is as follows:

- This is 105 Di2, so only brake hoses, no shift or Di2 cables.
- Front brake hose is routed through the fork, and taped to the fork where it exits, then goes up through the headset and spacers (always keeping left), going through the left shifter.
- Rear brake hose is routed through the frame, then goes up through the headset and spacers (always keeping right), going through the right shifter.

My problem is that with this setup, my handlebars always pull right, rather strongly, so I plan to redo my setup, to figure out what's causing the handlebars to pull right.

Any tips on how to achieve proper balance?

My aero frame came with a battery holder for a round seat post, which doesn't fit the aero seat post (the seat post is too narrow).

If I only fit one side of the battery holder, I can squeeze it in. It seems tight enough, but I'm not sure if that's safe to do. What do you think? Should there have been a more specific battery mount for my seat post, or does that not matter, as long as the battery doesn't fall out?

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Sunshine 14-32 cassettes
« on: March 07, 2023, 06:10:12 AM »
Has anyone seen 14-32t or 14-34t 12-speed Shimano cassettes on AliExpress?

I've seen them sold in Western stores at around €80-100, but cannot find them on AliExpress

Does anyone have any experience with this groupset?

I'm considering it for a hybrid flat-bar gravel setup (road 1x crankset with this rear derailleur).

I'm considering them for a flat-bar gravel setup. They seem quite pricey, but unfortunately, the cheaper Shimano stuff is sold out everywhere here.

Does anyone know of a good and up-to-date time trial frame (with disc brakes) that's UCI-legal (so not just for triathlon)?

They look promising, and I'm especially excited to see a 48-32 combination, but they actually cost *more* than e.g. a Praxis Zayante Carbon crankset.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / What's this frame?
« on: September 28, 2022, 10:34:33 AM »
Does anyone know which frame this is? It's sold by a local bike store under their own brand, so I suspect it's an open mould, but it doesn't look familiar.

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering what are your experiences with these hubs, and how they compare to a budget DT Swiss 370?

After The Ride / What is this paint job?
« on: May 28, 2022, 07:25:36 AM »
Does anyone know how to describe the paint job used on Tarmac SL 7 pro bikes (Quick Step and SD Works)? It looks like a chameleon, but the effect is very different in real life.

Here's a video of the Quick Step bike: https://share.icloud.com/photos/049BcgE-TOHzm7lRSsUds_iQA

Metal Frames / Tsunami frames
« on: May 02, 2022, 03:06:18 PM »
Does anyone have any experiences with Tsunami bikes? I'm interested in the GR02 gravel frame in particular.

There's a few YouTube videos that showcase this frame. It looks good on the surface, but as always, the website isn't very confidence-inspiring. The text is stolen from another brand (Niner), and there's two conflicting geometry charts.

Road Bike Frames, Wheels & Components / Frames for hybrid bikes
« on: March 21, 2022, 07:41:06 AM »
Does anyone have any experiences with hybrid builds (road frame with flat bar)? I'm looking for a suitable frame:

- very high stack
- slightly longer reach
- slacker head tube angle (preferable 70-71 degrees).
