Yeah, with those angles and that long reach, it definitely looks like it's designed around short stems and flat bars.
I do wish they put a bit more stack on it.

17
I just use a flexible tape measure to measure from the bottom of the clamp to the tip of the drops. Isn't that what most people do?

18
@curvenut If you're like me, and you're looking for high stack / low reach, you may be better off with a gravel frame.

My next build will use the Yishun G075-D frameset. That's about the only frame that I can use with a negative stem angle.

I honestly don't see the point of that. The only reason brands like Specialized and Trek include rear suspension like that, is to create USPs to justify their crazy prices. A 27.2mm seatpost that's sufficiently exposed already flexes quite a lot.

@neobiker: Yishun is a really big OEM. If they create new models, those are initially open to OEM customers only, as they take up all the capacity anyway. Only when initial OEM demands die down, do they become open to retail customers.

@ENEP: Yeah, "stopwatch" is just bike computer :D It's just the standard carbon mount. Works fine, but it's easy to overtighten the little screws that hold in the adapter plate (for switching between Garmin, Wahoo, etc).

@xicsx: It's done by a local painter. It's not something Yishun can do.

@Goe @curvenut

Pic below. The build went smooth. I only struggled to get the Di2 cable through the chainstay, but that was because the guide tubes were removed before painting. Other than that, no issues whatsoever.

@neobiker For me, they usually reply after 1-2 days, expect during holidays. What exactly are you asking them about?

Component Deals & Selection / SRAM XPLR cassette
« on: June 20, 2023, 12:24:41 AM »
Does anyone know of any affordable cassettes compatible with SRAM XPLR (10-44 or 11-44t)?

I'm considering this groupset for a new bike, but would need an additional (cheaper) cassette to put on my Kickr.

jonathanf2: Can you recommend any Filipino cycling YouTubers?

@bennytalent: I didn't mean building your own :) You can just ask for the configuration you want. For hubs, you can ask for DT Swiss hubs, or go for their OEM hubs.

26
I don't think those exist.

I would recommend you look for bike with endurance or gravel geometry, so you can have lower reach and higher stack.

27
I would also enquire with Yishun for a build with their GRL rims: https://www.yishunbike.com/product-category/rims/rims-disc-brake/rims-disc-brake-grl-series/
I have a pair with DT 350 hubs and Sapim spokes. They were about €700 incl. shipping and PayPal fee.

Note that the 240 hub is extremely expensive, that's what many pros se :)
Now that DT Swiss' ratchet pattern has expired, I would definitely go for an OEM hub with a ratchet. They feel and sound identical to DT Swiss ones.

Yeah, just get it from Light Carbon / Yishun. It will be exactly the same (most likely, OEM customer can make changes if the order is large enough), but half the price, and no ugly branding.

29
You can also check out Yishun, which is the OEM behind Light Carbon. They offer a wider selection of frames. I've recently built-up their R086D race frame:

https://www.yishunbike.com/product/r086-daero-road/

Quality was excellent. The only downsides are that it's press-fit only, and they don't do painting on single-set orders, so you'd have to paint it yourself, or find an affordable painting service near you.

@patilean: I ordered a R086-D a few months ago. The price was €715 incl. prepaid tax shipping, extra spacers and derailleur hanger.

The quality was excellent, but do keep in mind that the stack measurement doesn't include the headset top cap, which is about 15mm.
