I'm not sure that was the issue, but I had taped the front brake hose to the fork (as you always see people doing). On my second attempt, I removed that tape and just let the cable hang free, and now the issue seems to be resolved.

I'm building up my first bike with cables routed through the headset and stem/handlebar. My setup is as follows:

- This is 105 Di2, so only brake hoses, no shift or Di2 cables.
- Front brake hose is routed through the fork, and taped to the fork where it exits, then goes up through the headset and spacers (always keeping left), going through the left shifter.
- Rear brake hose is routed through the frame, then goes up through the headset and spacers (always keeping right), going through the right shifter.

My problem is that with this setup, my handlebars always pull right, rather strongly, so I plan to redo my setup, to figure out what's causing the handlebars to pull right.

Any tips on how to achieve proper balance?

My aero frame came with a battery holder for a round seat post, which doesn't fit the aero seat post (the seat post is too narrow).

If I only fit one side of the battery holder, I can squeeze it in. It seems tight enough, but I'm not sure if that's safe to do. What do you think? Should there have been a more specific battery mount for my seat post, or does that not matter, as long as the battery doesn't fall out?

If you need to send 44 emails before you place an order, I also consider that being entitled. No company has time to answer 44 emails from a potential customer. That probably puts them at a net loss for that order.

I've dealt with many companies in my life, and Carbonda ranks among the top when it comes to response times, and being helpful/informative.

I once tried to ask Specialized what hubs they were using in their "DT Swiss" wheels, because I needed to order a different freehub body. It took me weeks of jumping through hoops and going through many different channels, before I got a useful answer (they were using Novatec hubs btw).

There's also Chinese OEMs who sell those low-weight, super fragile frames if you like living on the edge and weigh less than 90 kgs ;)

I use ESI silicone tape. It doesn't stick to your frame, but sticks to itself. It's super easy to apply and remove, and leaves no residue.

I've now ordered an AliExpress version (about half the price of ESI), to inspect the quality:

Yeah. I already have a local distributor for some Chinese factories, but I don't see the point of paying 30% more just to have my frame slightly faster.

My bad, I was comparing to the reach of the handlebar-only version. But yeah, as you said, the stem bolts are different, so it's not the same part.

Hi ENEP,

We seem to have a similar body type. Keep in mind that high stack + low reach = upright position, so not usually found on an aero frame, rather a gravel or endurance frame. In your case, you definitely need to find something with a lower reach, as an 80mm stem is way too short for you to put on an aero frame. Aero frames generally have a short wheelbase and steep head tube angle, which you need to pair with a longer stem, or you end up with an extremely twitchy bike.

I've briefly tried the Carbonda 1056 for it's lower reach/higher stack (it's an endurance frame), but the wheelbase was already too short for my 90mm stem and 40cm handlebars. I'm currently on a Carbonda 696, which is a good fit for me.

For my next build, I'm going for a Yishun G075-D, which is about the only frame that has a short enough reach for me not to have to flip my stem up (which isn't possible with integrated cables). Here's an example build from a local brand (that charges way too much):

@some guy: That's not the same handlebar. The reach is quite different.

This appears to be the same as "The One", but unbranded?

Thanks. Do you have a link to Alibaba?

Does anyone know how wide the clamping area is on the handlebar-only version? I've tried asking the seller (ThinkRider), but they have no idea what I'm asking and I'm getting nonsensical responses (I assume the automatic translation is off).

44
Same here. I'm interested in them because of the very low reach, but I only see two stores selling them, and they cost almost as much as western brands.

@helmat: Which stem are you using? Is that a Carbonda part?
