Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hi, Chuck from Silicon Valley checking in. About a month ago I got a Light Bicycle carbon rim from an acquaintance and built a front wheel for my MTB. I just ordered a TanTan FM10 frame and some carbon rims to go with it - I fell for a low price I got from the AliExpress app. Looking to build a modern "all mountain" bike. Thanks for all your build reports!

Some actual AliExpress MTB component weights Here are a few components for my upcoming Seraph/TanTan FM10 build which arrived today from AliExpress stores. See photos.

Goldix GDX370 Boost 110x15mm front hub for 6 bolt disc, 32 holes: 147g

Goldix GDX370 Boost 148x12mm rear hub for 6 bolt disc, 32 holes, HG freehub w/ 36t star ratchet: 257g

Sensah CRX Pro 11-speed shifter and cable core: 136g

Sensah CRX Pro 11-speed MTB rear derailleur: 319g

ZTTO 11-50t 11 speed cassette: 598g

ZTTO zero stack headset for tapered steerer, w/ star fangled nut: 120g

ZRACE Hardrock Dub crankset w/ direct mount 32t chainring: 641g

ZRACE BB92/DUB bottom bracket: 107g

The ZTTO/Sensah groupset came with a ZTTO chain, but at 116 links it's not going to be long enough for the FM10, so I left it out of this gallery. I'll put it on my 2007 vintage Chumba XCL 26er instead.

Re: Elite Wheels ENT : confusing information from alibaba and elite website There is a relationship between inside rim width and maximum tire size. Schwalbe has a chart which has the ERTRO official recommendations plus Schwalbe's own suggestions: https://www.schwalbe.com/en/reifenmasse

But according to the chart, you can use up to a 34mm wide tire on a rim as narrow as 15mm internal width.

The Elite Wheels recommendation for 28mm max may be more for aerodynamic reasons, since the widest rim on that page is 29mm external. Wider tires would definitely work, but wouldn't be as streamlined.

Re: What left side crank power meter for Sensah empire 2x11 with Zrace cranks? Ride that BB until it wears out. Then replace it with something better. There are lots of choices, Shimano is far from the only game in town.

Re: Airwolf YFM-026 - 1 month in The usual solution is a crown race spacer. Search this site and you'll see a few different ones mentioned.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts I think you will have to run the shifter cable housing the full length of the frame.

Re: FM1001 / FM1156 - 135mm frame
Thanks! Yeah, I'm in the east bay. Those were taken at Pena Adobe which is my home trail. Where in the Bay are you?

Sunnyvale. I do most of my MTBing in the parks and preserves along Skyline Blvd. down here. I used to go to Henry W. Coe State Park a lot, but I need to build my endurance back for that place after years of not riding MTB.

Re: Carbonda fm936 Thoughts
However, while tightening the hardware using a torque wrench, I stripped out the head of Torx screw for the rocker pivot.  I'm sure it was partly my technique, but perhaps the screw wasn't the highest quality.

Perhaps?! If you stripped a Torx head without overtorquing the bolt, the bolt was clearly defective, either in manufacture or (my bet) material choice. That just shouldn't happen.

SVChucko's Seraph/TanTan FM10 build At long last, the FM10 frame I ordered in mid-September arrived at my Silicon Valley home, just in time for the holidays! Merry Christmas to me!

The box was in pretty good shape considering it had been in transit for 3 months.

I went over the frame with a fine tooth comb once I got it unpacked. There was some minor cosmetic damage to the pre-installed upper headset bearing race - but as I will explain later, that won't matter. Some minor paint chipping around one of the rear end pivot bolts, and the rough end of the bottom bracket tube, were about the only things I could complain about.

I was disappointed that there aren't any strings strung through the cable holes. That'll make things tricky when I put it together.

Here are some pictures to get it started.
