Re: Chinese cycling clothes
https://aliexpress.com/item/1005005922695020.html

Anyone? Willing to try or already tried? They look pretty good from pictures but at this price I'm a little hesitant
As somebody who has taken risks and bought AliExpress kit from unknown brands/shops, based on the shop/brands photos, I would not recommend it, unless you have money to throw away. Odds are you will end up with very cheap and nasty kit, with low grade polyester material, poor fit, sizing and other issues.
Been burnt enough times (a few kits worn once or I will never wear)  I take care with what I buy now, stick to the better brands (Specxel, YKYWbike, Darevie, Rion, Cheji, Santic) from reputable sellers.
If you are on a real tight budget you
with offers from Darevie and Rion on the 'super deals' and such, which end up not being much more expensive, and at least you know the brand and that the fabric is better, I'd say it's better to spend your money on those than on some risky new shirt/brand
you are not going to get better value for money kit wise anywhere

Re: What lube? https://zerofrictioncycling.com.au/ is the rabbit hole of looking after your drive train (ignore those other Australians, they are not nice people).

Guides on how to remove factory grease, how to immersive wax etc and well as test details on most the major chain lubes both oil and waxed based.

Personally I immersive wax, as it is cheaper in the long run (chain, cassette and chain rings last a lot and I mean a lot longer), quieter and cleaner too.

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress? Second what others have recommended
Uno alloy stems
RideNow TPU tubes (36g in use, 24g waiting to try)
YBN chains (all my bikes run waxed YBN chains, including run about ratbike)
Rhinowalk bags (gym, handlebar, top tube and seat roll in use, quality is excellent)
XXX copy bottle cages (no worse at scratching bottles than other brands and more reliable than other brands, ie don’t break or eject bottles)

To add
Uno alloy handlebars, both road and gravel and my flared gravel bar has seen abuse.
MZYRH flat pedals
Wellgo red cleats (exactly the same as Favero and Powertap cleats)
Zeray ZP-110 look keo compatible pedals
AOlikes headband, sits under your helmet and silicone gutter stops sweat getting in your eyes.
TPU folding flask - make your own gels 250ml worth and stick it in your back pocket
Generic HR bands for Garmin HR, a consumable product but lasts as long as gamins, cheaper and comes in a range of colours.
Generic alloy computer mount (Garmin or Wahoo) with GoPro mount underneath that mounts to your handlebar with hinge.
Deemount tubeless sealants injectors
Deemount side loading bottle cages
Cheji cycling kit (just need to be aware pricing fluctuates madly)

To avoid
Generic alloy computer mount that mounts to your stem with two bolts, cracked too many to recommend
Plastic computer mount with GoPro mount underneath that mounts to your handlebar, again cracked too many.
Replica/copies/cheap cycling kit, especially bibs with the multicoloured 5D pads.

Re: Powermeter pedals (Cycplus?) As far as pedal based power meters for accuracy, reliability and user servicing of bearings it is hard to go past Favero Assioma. I would not gamble on another brand like Cycplus, until they are proven for accuracy, reliability and bearing replacement, ie at least a year after their release.

Couple years back Favero had a Black Friday sale, got a Duo direct from Favero for the price of a Uno locally (Australia). So if you want a cheaper pedal based power meter you might be in luck.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
How is the sizing on the Cheji skinsuit? Did you follow the sizing chart?

Arrived today, tried on, not ridden in yet. Tempted to test in race tomorrow, except 40km ride to and from, I am a little unwilling to test new kit on rides of a 100+km.

Fit wise,
I am 184cm (6'1") 96cm chest (38") 82cm (32") waist and pretty solid legs, currently 78kg (170lbs) but usually a couple kg lighter.

According to Cheji fit charts I should be XL, everything I own from Cheji, bib shorts and jersey are L (Which are comparable to M in Rapha pro team). So I went L with skinsuit and are very happy with result. Good, tight but not uncomfortable race fit.

Quality wise it is good, stitching is flat. Only concern is the older style (as in a couple of years ago) two piece leg gripper. But otherwise looks great, even the design is growing on me.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes Update on the Cheji skinsuit

Wore it for today's TT, which meant 110km round trip.

As with previous experience with Cheji bibs and that chamois, started getting discomfort after over three hours in saddle. Still survived the slog home into the head/crosswind.

Otherwise very comfortable with no straps digging into my shoulders.

Sounds awesome. I'm gonna grab one. I'm 188cm/80kg, prob gonna go L, too. Which colour you grab?

What's your inseam mate? (just trying to compare torso length somehow) Is it long enough to not crush your nuts when in a riding position?

The blue to white to orange gradient fade.

86cm inseam

And it did not crush my nuts, two hours aero on the hoods and drops, two hours causal ride home on the tops and hoods.

Would you say the legs are long?
With the bibs, do they go above your belly button? Had a big issue with Chinese bibs where they are very short on the torso.
Not bibs but skinsuit. The bottom half finishes just below the belly button. TThe natural stop required a little effort.

When I put then on, thought the legs were long, but photo (which I have not got of phone) has them sitting at about the same length as M MAAP and S Pedal Mafia bibs I wore last week.

Re: Chinese cycling clothes
Pretty sure the elastic interface pad is fake. It's really entirely different from the dhb bibs I have, yet it's supposedly the same model elastic interface pad used in both. Completely different density, nowhere near as comfortable, seems sweatier, meh whatever, the quality of the bibs seem ok but I'm certain the pad is just a regular chinese crappy pad with some fake branding.
The Elastic Interface pad, I have in my YKYWbike and Cheji bibs is the real thing, Paris HP, https://www.elasticinterface.com/cycling-pad/crossover/ which was the same pad in my older DHB Aeron bibs. The newer DHB Aeron bibs have a custom Elastic Interface pad (which is what you can do if you order enough pads from Elastic Interface (like DHB, Assos, Rapha and many more brands).

That said, the Paris HP is older entry level pad. There are much better Elastic Interface pads available, but much more expensive. Think of the Paris HP as the Tiagra of Elastic Interface range. So Chinese brands like YKYWbike, Cheji and Rion are using a cheaper name pad to sell the products as premium.

I do like the Paris HP pad, it works well for me.

Re: MTB Cranks - Suggestions? Been testing less expensive short cranks on my road bikes. My experience so far.

Goldix - needed to clean up the three direct mount points with a dremel to fit my direct mount Sigeyi power meter. The Goldix direct mount chainring was fine, but the direct mount PM and another spider did not fit out of the box. Done over 1000km no issues since then.

Cruz Bikes - shimano style crank attachment, needed to open the right crank arm to attach to crank. Unwilling to use my PM until tested and taken on and off the bike a couple of times. Not actually used yet.

Zrace - after emails with Sigeyi, had to take to crank with dremel, to stop base of left crank arm resting on PM. Not used, but of the three cranks so far, probably the best construction. Not used yet.

I have a Senicx on the way courtesy of 11.11 sale would of also got a Fovno (heard good things about this brand), but was cheaper before 11.11, so waiting.

Depending on how the 160mm Cruz Bike goes, looking at trying a 155 or 160mm Cruz Bike with GXP style mounting for both crank arms https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005890453077.html

Re: Best and worst overall quality/value components/tools/gear from AliExpress?
I have these. Two pairs which I've been using for >2yrs
they're really good for the price and solved my issues with shoes, I definitely needed arch support and the 'common' insoles I've tried didn't work. Found these on Ali, bought one and another after around 3 months to have as spare (they actually went out of stock for a year or so, came back some months ago)

my experience is that they work really well, but the plastic on the arches is not the best, it starts to soften after some time. So like I started with the no.3 arch but it turned to a 2 effectively, so I had to change to a 4 to keep the support as it should.
Also the glue between the plastic part below and the foam is not good, if you get any water in it'll detach. But easily solved just glued back together

other than that, is really nice, and for sure worth the price. A fraction of the real one, but of reasonable quality, and the customization is worth it.
I have owned a pair of G8 Performance 2620 insoles for over 3 years and 30,000km. Happy with them, but not the price for replacements as they do wear out. So when I  saw these copies I purchased a couple of pairs.

They look almost identical to the G8s, so much the arch supports looks and feels the same and are interchangeable. Which is good news as the arch supports do degrade over time (a comment BikeFit James made about the G8 on YouTube, I have experienced with my G8 and
but the plastic on the arches is not the best, it starts to soften after some time.
The difference is in the sole, 2620 are available in 4 sizes, the copy is one size, looks based on a large (I have a med 2620) and can be trimmed to any size between 41 and 46.
The sole looks to be made of similar but slightly different material
The heel and footbed attachment points sit flush with the original, the copy  they protrude a little from the sole.
Very happy with my  purchase and will make good use of them.

Re: sentyeh HRD 1x11 compatibility
Was thinking something along these lines too. I was looking at the wolf tooth that claims to be compatible with a range of chains. Any aliexpress chainrings that known to be good or maybe I should just switch to a ali crankset all together.
chain compatibility is either SRAM 12 speed (and their are some caveats, ie some SRAM 12 speed are not compatible with others) or everybody else ie 9,10,11 and every non SRAM 12 speed chain has the same pitch and roller size, the only  difference is width via plate thickness.

Modern SRAM cranks use an eight bolt direct mount, older SRAM cranks and most AliExpress cranks use a three bolt direct mount. So plenty  of three bolt direct mount chain rings on AliExpress, there are eight bolt bolt direct mount chain rings available, but tend to be premium brands.

Other alternative is buy a direct mount power meter spider, they are available in both three and eight bolt models. Then pick a chain ring that matches your BCD or just buy a Magene P505 crank and nottt the SRAM.
