Re: My OG-Evkin CF-052 (FM699) build w/ 60% AliExpress parts Took some pictures today.
The OG-Evkin handlebar is also ordered now, along with some new grips. Ordered the handlebar from China, it's back in the spanish warehouse, but shipping is 33€ now.  :o
And I bought a Deore M6100 iSpec shifter for 15€ shipped on Ebay.

XS Ican P1 Build Hey there !

Since not a lot of people documented on building a p1 , I decided to start my own thread on it.

Little background, last year during the pandemic, my girlfriend really started enjoying Riding.

Now, with this issue of bike shortage, the only nice used bike we were able to get was a 2017 devinci spartan small.

This bike is a beast by the way, way overkill for the kind of riding my girlfriend does. The only issue with it is that my GF is 5" and that small is just way to big.

So many time I've seen her just "jump out of saddle to bail on something because she just can't dab on that bike or even sit over the top tube.

This year , she decided she like bike more then enough to treat herself with an XS size bike and with the bike shortage still going full speed, we opted to build an Ican P1 with most of the part from the Devinci.

Here's what the build will look like :

 - Ican P1 XS UD Matte
 - Fox Float DPS 200x51
 - RockShox Yari 150mm (might drop to 140mm if adding an angleset or offset bushing as the HTA of the P1 is kinda meh to me)
 - Mach1 Trucky 650B wheelset, 30mm inner width, 32h spokes, Tubeless ready, pretty budget friendly
 - DHR2 2.4wt / DHF 2.5wt
 - 11speed NX drivetrains w/ a 28T chainring from nsbillet (such a good way to upgrade an 11-42T cassette range to have a better granny gear for her)
 - Sram Level T brakes w/ 180mm rotor ( At 105lbs, she's even complaining that those are still too powerful...)
 - Devinci 45mm stem
 - Raceface Atlas bar
 - CrankBrother Stamp 1 pedals
 - PNW loam grips
 - Ks Lev Integra 100mm

So far so good , frame looks in good shape.

Now it's just a question of waiting on the parts we couldn't transfer from the donor to arrive than the fun begin :)

Cheers !

Re: XS Ican P1 Build Test fitted more parts tonight manly checking for rear tire clearance.

Max tire size is 27.5x2.8 even on a Xs frame. I’ve put my own rear wheel that has a 2.4wt on a 30mm inner width rim and there’s plenty of space left.

Frame standover is perfect for the wifey at 5” / 26” inseam.

More to come when parts arrive !

Re: XS Ican P1 Build So build is mostly done. Waiting on a new shifter cable as the old one is too short.

Internal routing is as worst as I remember, the guide don’t help at all imo is just a question of poking around and having a small small pair of tweezer to pull on cable to exit correctly.

I’m surprised on the quality of the wheels for the price. Velomine has really good deals for budget alloy rims. We’ll see later how they hold tubeless.

I’ve bought a Granite design aux water bottle but I’m not sure yet if a 500ml would fit, the frame is extra extra small afterall lol

We’ll report this weekend on the first ride how it went !

Cheers

Re: XS Ican P1 Build First ride report and here’s it what the girl had to say :

- the bike feel quick and really snappy
- it’s more nervous than the spartan ( that’s to be expected coming from a long low enduro to a less aggressive trail bike

I’ll probably slap a 9point8 slackR on it anyway since the hta need to come down anyway to be modernized!

Cheers

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! So I didn’t want to bother Eddy more but I’ve asked him if we’ll get a tracking # once frame are shipped and he confirmed that yes.

I think they are trying to fix an issue with the rear triangle as the video that Eddy attached to his last emails doesn’t show a rear triangle in it.

Oh well, your frame is somewhere in there, almost complete :)

Re: The shiney new AM831 Group Buy thread! Some people says and warns that to build a bike you need "hundreds of dollars of special tools". in my experience isn't like this: give that you have a normal tool set at home all I needed last time was the insert to lock the cassette, the insert for the bottom bracket and the cut chain tool: nothing else, total cost 30 usd maybe less.
You will need again these tools for bike maintenance.
(fork stem could be cutted with a hack saw and leveled with a file, star nut inserted with a screw driver and hammer; if you need to push in headset two washers and a long bolt)

Re: Welcome to Chinertown - Introduce Yourself! Hey all,

Stumbled across this site looking for 29er frames. Looks like a great site with lots of detailed info. Sometime in the fall I'm hoping to build up an xc 29er and just gathering info in the meantime. I've built up a franken-chiner so to speak last year. Wanted a carbon 29" bmx cruiser for fun and didn't want to just go buy an SE bike so I bought a BXT 046 frame and have been happy as can be with it since.  ;D Looking forward to the next build.
